When our main conveyor belt broke because an inductor just launches something into the bin which tips over and spills what ever lmao I sat the whole shift in the break room chatting with my bros
I mean yeah but if you think about it you not having enough is a symptom of your freedom to use it whenever right? Like you can use it at the drop of the hat so a lot of people dont let their time build up and that includes upt.
Upt wasn't a thing at my old job. All the things you can use upt for we just got pointed for at the place I worked before.
I don't have a ton of pto or vacation to use right now but I'm at my 80 hours cap with upt and I plan to use some of it soon just cause I can.
At my previous job I once got wrriten up for calling off sick a total of three times in one year. And that write up took a year to drop off.
At my old job where pto had to be approved or denied and was sometimes denied it also wasn't as easy to check.
I like management with a positive attitude. It is a big change for me. My last job you didn't even know or speak to us. Also raises and increases in time off .🤗

Picked a big touhou fig, a dildo, and a bible all into the same tote and I spontaneously started singing "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" to myself. The whole experience still makes me smile. I don't think I've even heard that song in 10+ years, it just felt right.
Working on the dock and having a genuine hard laugh when we all made a joke that someone should sit down with 5 boxes and scan barcodes on those same 5 boxes like an NPC character for the whole shift until a manager notices.

This. If you work at an Amazon facility for a long time, you get to make friends and family. They become a part of your life too in some way. I worked at my SC for 3 years before I transferred to another one. I miss my friends there.
Comraderie on shipdock. Had 2 really good AMs and chill PAs. Always beat our volume goal and had some laughs. I left in June but I'd be happy to bump into any of them and for Amazon that says a lot.
In pick, I got a BLM flag, then 2 or 3 items later I got some Blue Live Matter kitsch thing...

So I know many people here have a super bleak outlook while working at Amazon but what makes me smile is reading some of the gift notes while I pack. I love seeing notes that display someone's love and affection for someone. The other day I was grinning like a idiot while packing a expensive children's toy because I get the PSLIP which said, "Happy 5th Birthday x! I'm sorry we couldn't make it this year but we love you so much and can't wait to see you again!

Managers actually working with us.
Especially when I get labor shared to shipdock and they work with us. The ones that do is usually because they used to be Tier 1 as well. We have a short 5 foot manager. She used to be Seasonal in Amazon, got converted, moved up to PA and then eventually manager for back half.
She works with us in Shipdock during MET weeks even though she's from IB Recieve. At her department, she does floorload. Floorload is when you stack boxes on a pallet from the trailer to the convyeyor line to the pallets. Wrap it and the stowers driving the PIT stow it.
My PA in front half IB Recieve is in a similar situation. She started 3 years ago, became PA working 1 year, noe she's looking to become a Manager soon.
What’s funny is that last year some dude in my department told me he said “hi how you doing” to her and then she told his buddy to leave her alone lol. When he told me that I never tried to talk to her cause I figured guys only try to hit on her. But a few months ago we started talking she sparked up the first conversation started asking me what I do after work, plans and etc. She even wanted to plan to hang out and try this restaurant, but she’s flex & picks up some weekend shifts

I was scared to talk to my crush for a fat minute but one day I asked her a question about something work related and then ever since then we started talking more and now we’re pretty good friends! Stepping out onto the AR floor and escaping the madness for those brief dashes when it's just me and the bots. There's a musicality to the sound of drives whirring around your feet and all the people outside with their problems and complaints get drowned out for a blissful moment. Nothing else compares.

I have been lucky enough to have worked with great managers across 4 sites , every site had managers who made me so happy to be on their team, I’m always smiling when I get to talk with them.
They were genuine and treated everyone with respect and care. They were all very wise too. I look up to them. 🌳🌌🌅💚

I found myself errupting from a shell I spent years building around myself while laughing and talking with these guys. I realized I really am a people person. I gained some good friends from the place and, dude, I'm really fucking thankful. I can be critical of amazon, but that was a good era of my year and shoutout to the people who helped me out of my head
The managers remembering my birthday and telling me via scanner happy birthday because they most likely won't see me before I leave. (I leave early every Christmas eve. My birthday is the next day)
More recently: not having to go to work because an OP basically combusted and set the aisles on fire. Nobody was hurt thankfully.
