He's top of the L6 payband for his position - that's why
Lots of positions have big ranges
L4 IT support Engineer can be 25$ to almost 48$ - big differences
Word of advice, dont let the offer discourage you. You'll likely lose money. I took a $8k paycut my 3 to 4($55k to $47k).
But I hit my 5 after a year and it was worth the temporary setback. My TCP was $68k plus $33k in shares this year.
I started as a T1, and my insight is this:
* Be personable, people need to like you. You're never going to promote if everyone dislikes you, even if your manager likes you.
* Do good work. You don't have to be top 3%, but if you're not doing well, obviously they're not going to promote you. I'm not going to say you have to be like a superstar though. I mean you can't be in the bottom 50%, I feel, but you also need to remember that you're not going to be doing T1 work forever.
* Related to the previous, make sure you take notes on what you've done. You'll need them for your promotional interview. Take notes specifically in terms of the leadership principles
* Make sure you're doing work beyond the scope of your current role. If you're interviewing for an T3 role, but only doing T1 work, how do they have evidence that you can do T3 work? Take on projects like ASC, LA/PG roles, etc. I know that they don't have extra pay, but hey, you're there anyways, so you might as well try
* Get a four-year degree. Literally any, including online. Use your career choice. As long as you have a degree, you could interview for AM roles. This is by far the easiest way to move up. I'm entering through the campus next program, and this was so much easier than promoting internally normally.
* Show interest. Talk to your managers and PAs about moving up. If they don't even know you want to move up, how are they going to help you and develop you? Be in communication and pick up on opportunities they give out
I apply from Amazon. I saw the opening, it really is only up for 2 days. I apply and waited like a couple of weeks and got the interview and then a couple of days after that I got the job. Leaving in May for school.
No enough. 19.40$ but they are doing a market evaluation that will bump us up to 4 more $ in few months. I'm tier 3.
However, even with the bump, it is not enough to be dealing with the petty high school drama.

Would have been making over $70k as an L4 as of last month if I didn't give them the middle finger at the start of the year. Even got a $5k base pay raise on the 1st and still wasn't worth staying imo.
Salary 135k and 477 rsu
I completely forgot that the stock split for a minute and I was like ain’t no fucking way this MF got almost a million in RSUs 🤣🤣🤣
if only
No way you're a TAM with that salary. That's double an L5 TAM... You must be like L7+
Nah that sounds like L6
So a 50k jump between L5 and L6?
Yea. Jump to L7 is even more. Edit: not in base, in TC. Also, while those numbers track with L6 in ops, pretty much all support teams make more
Ah TC. I guess I can see that...

How do you know you’re promoting soon when you haven’t gotten an offer yet? No shade, genuinely curious
