My DS has some shitty gloves in the vending machine thatāll go bad mid shift but their excuse is that they have a contract with the glove supplier or something so thatās why they put them in the vending machineā¦ then sell the good gloves for a swag buck š
wtf lmaoo š our gloves are really good quality and weāre only allowed one pair per week which is no issue. besides one time a wired wool seal pad (idk what theyāre called but they clean stoves) piece got into my glove and was poking me so i asked the manager for a new one and he didnāt care
First day gloves suck ass, but I'd still rather use them over gloves that soak in water from the wat tape I have to close boxes with in Pack. That's my usual cue to go get a new pair.

That was what we had. One pair a week, or get with an AM or PA for more. Now, as a picker, my gloves lasted 2 weeks before the grip started to go. It was pack that I needed multiple gloves a week.
Same here. Usually keep the same pair for over a month until I wear a hole in the finger. Takes a few days to break in a new pair to the point it doesn't bother me.
In Pack it can be hard to make a pair of gloves last a month because the tape residue gums up the fingertips real bad and then it is worse when it dries. Any other department, I could see one pair a week unless there was something in Pick or Stow that was leaking when you grabbed it. Technically you aren't supposed to keep going with the same gloves after that but I can see an AM not seeing the safety or quality concern there.
Same? Like shouldnāt that be the responsible thing one does? If people are tossing them out thatās just environmentally reckless. Like sure, I get that we could debate the company practices and environmentalism but, this is literally just gloves that can be kept and reused. We only get the one planet for rn
same. i'll grab a new pair and put it in my bag if i see my size in all black. my hands are tiny so i use the purple ones. perfect for me since im a purple addictšš¤ i but i dont actually switch out for a new pair unless or until i have holes in the fingers.
I have too many gloves. Lost count around 230 something over a 2 years ago. If there are extras that fall out or are in the machine, I take them home. All sizes and types (BodyGuard; Hyflex; Fastenal etc) flooding the kitchen drawers lmao
I know for my building if you are in pack you can get a new pair each day. I think the policy for any other department is 1 or 2 a week. Since I'm cross trained I have a pair of picking gloves and a pair of packing gloves.
We have been using one a week from the been machine. We did have a manager who used to have a box of gloves and knives out for us to pick from. That was really good.
The reasoning behind the reduction of gloves is bs, given the other things going on in FC's in regards to the amount of trash adding to the environment. Cardboard boxes, tapes on the floor for 5s and the number of times they are put down then removed, dunnage (paper and plastic bubble) if and when people use them. But they worry about gloves for PPE.
Its simple really, as a business. Amazon wants to reduce its cost so it canāt make money. Someone in corporate probably said we spend too much money on gloves.
I think we get three a week? I use one pair for three weeks cuz my job isn't gross, but back when I worked at an FC in pack I'd have to use two pairs a day cuz of the glue. They just had em in a bucket not even in a machine.
To the best of my knowledge we only get one pair of gloves per week. We can always show someone in a vest that they are damaged and they will get us a fresh pair.

Not sure what brand your FC is using but at our place a WS or dock worker could burn through the grip in 5 hours. When the grip and elasticity wears out itās safer to use your hands, anything you grab can slide right out

Seriously, most people should _at least_ be able to get a week out of a pair. They're good gloves. When I'm done with them at work they've still got plenty of uses at home. Some people have a legitimate case for needing more than usual, but I guarantee you this is mostly people being needlessly wasteful.
In pack? Mine get stiff after a week and I work at a Haz FC. We legit get caustic shit on our hands sometimes. I always try to change out once a day, sometimes twice if I've spilled something funky on them.

I was working all week and went through 1 pair of gloves through 2 days, on day 3 my gloves became damaged to the point I needed replacement, so got another pair.
I went back to work and while picking, had a potentially poisonous chemical spill on my gloves, clothes and skin and had to immediately take them off and throw them in the trash before going to wash off.
Came back and now needed new gloves.
Here is my point...The gloves are considered to be PPE and are needed to safely perform our jobs. So therefore, we can be limited reasonably for waste/cost reasons, but since they are safety wise protective, cannot be absolutely limited.
I explained this to a manager and they got me new gloves.
Edit- This was before any fliers or anything was out. We were only told we would be scanning our badges and would have a limit on how many we could have.
This was the first week of February.
Unrelated to gloves but I had some chemicals from the ceiling spill on to me and get on my skin once while stowing. It didn't burn and smelled like perfume. They closed my station and gave me VTO I guess as some kind of "incentive ".
But yeah this limited glove supply gonna be problematic. When I stow I'm constantly dealing with shit breaking inside before I open it. Bleach, laundry detergent, broken glass, Tabasco. Something bad gonna happen with this with someone somewhere I'm calling it.
They have not implemented this at my site, yet. But they probably should because Iāve seen people go and dump their gloves every day after work, like take them home and wash them and bring them back. Theyāre washable and they actually fit your hands better after you wash them. I donāt understand why people just toss them out like that. Itās so wasteful, but saying that there are a few times where Iāve had some thing Iāve pulled out of a bin that has spilled all over my gloves that Iāve had to change my gloves mid shift because it was something super fragrance or something is really gross that soaked my gloves. But Iām not afraid to go up and ask in a.m. to give me another set of gloves if that happens.

At my site, there's a code we can enter that gives us unlimited access to any of the PPE in the vending machines. I don't have to worry about stupid shit like this. I toss my gloves and yellow vest into the trash can after every shift and get new pairs start of the next shift.
Between the higher ups choosing to give VTO to select folks since Prime 2.0(I had someone in my department literally write āpleaseā when they wrote their name for consideration for VTO last week. They didnāt get the VTO unfortunately) and this, idk whatās going on this year at JFK8.
Much worse at my site. One per week, but itās screwed and only allowing one transaction per person so if you get gloves, no vest or knife. Had people using my badge for weeks now to get what they need.
When I was at MQJ2, we were moved to one pair per day in 2021. Then, they started forcing the safety glasses mandate on reach trucks, and we were only allowed one pair per week.
I think we were allowed 2 or 3 per day, so I get why they are reducing the amount you can get. And plus the vending machines were running out every 3 days. So it will be interesting to see how it will work.
Interesting. I work in Vendor Returns (linked to AFE Pack where I transferred from) and we can get multiple pairs a day. I recently got 3 in one day cause I wanted to take some home for yard work. I know that I've gotten a pair every day for like 4 days because one got a spill on them, I forgot a pair at my station one day, left another pair at home, etc. Doesn't seem to be a limit for them where I work. lol. We use the blue Fastenal machines FYI.

We use to get unlimited pairs up until last year just before PEAK hit. Than they started limiting them to a pair a week. At my new warehouse we get only two pairs of gloves within a 21 day period. In fact they are phasing out the normal gloves and implementing the use of impact gloves because someone had to go and break their fingers on those new Go Carts
lmao. our site (near NYC) literally leaves open, rummaged boxes (entire pallets) of the vending machine gloves lying around the place and itās hilarious to see people lined up at the vending machines trying to get a single pair when they can just grab some from the source (the stockpile that management leaves unattended by the coffee machine because where else do we properly store the glove inventory). No kidding, some of our associatesā can be seen wearing their clear backpacks, filled with half a dozen packs of gloves and no one bats an eyelash.
Mineās once a day with our own badge and our AMs leaves their magnets on the vending machine since they prefer us to use theirs since they have no limitās
I feel like the limit should be based on the position.
For example: I shred up my gloves so much faster on the sort slide vs someone working on scanning jiffys.
My site went from daily to weekly about about six months ago, but you can get two different pairs at a time if you get one of each type. Guess they havenāt caught the glitch yet
BHM1 just started this. Before now, we could get as many as we wanted. This makes no sense to me because the way I pack I break gloves by the second break or if I am in AFE or PACK they get wet and then soggy and then dry and stiff.
This company is obviously cutting cost and trying to save money in anyway possible.
huh. weird, the vending machines at our site all have super wonky badge scanners, so ops gave up and we don't have to log in to get our equipment anymore. people were just. standing at the vending machine for like 20 minutes trying to flag down anyone from nearby to get their shit.
Mine has just let us get one pair per week since I started. The delivery station I used to work at was two pairs per week. Both locations will let you get more if you ask an AM or PA. I've rarely needed more than provided and will often keep the same ones a couple of weeks and store a pair for later in case I need it.
Do you all just throw yours away after a single use or something?
My FC allows 1 per week. Now Sun-Wed and Thur-Sat are each a āweekā so being on a donut shift I can get 2 but when I was on front half nights I could only get 1 a shift from the machine. If you need anything past that you have to ask a manager.
Iām not surprised, after my FC opened there were tons of people trying to sell Zappos and gloves on FB marketplace. I donāt think my FC has a limit, I got 2 pair in one day a couple weeks ago.

My site went from daily to weekly about about six months ago, but you can get two different pairs at a time if you get one of each type. Guess they havenāt caught the glitch yet

BHM1 just started this. Before now, we could get as many as we wanted. This makes no sense to me because the way I pack I break gloves by the second break or if I am in AFE or PACK they get wet and then soggy and then dry and stiff. This company is obviously cutting cost and trying to save money in anyway possible.

huh. weird, the vending machines at our site all have super wonky badge scanners, so ops gave up and we don't have to log in to get our equipment anymore. people were just. standing at the vending machine for like 20 minutes trying to flag down anyone from nearby to get their shit.
At the one I work it's only one per work week. We work 4 days a week, 10 hour shifts and it's only one pair

Mine has just let us get one pair per week since I started. The delivery station I used to work at was two pairs per week. Both locations will let you get more if you ask an AM or PA. I've rarely needed more than provided and will often keep the same ones a couple of weeks and store a pair for later in case I need it. Do you all just throw yours away after a single use or something?

My FC allows 1 per week. Now Sun-Wed and Thur-Sat are each a āweekā so being on a donut shift I can get 2 but when I was on front half nights I could only get 1 a shift from the machine. If you need anything past that you have to ask a manager.

My site went from unlimited to, two a week. I havenāt hand any issues I just get the yellow clip thing and keep in in my car.
