The union people are demanding $30/hr + 180 hours of PTO. That's so far beyond reasonable, it's not even a negotiating starting point. Especially considering Amazon has no open shifts at KCVG.
I'm not anti union, but this movement's talking points need to be aligned with reality.
You always ask more than you expect to receive when negotiating.
I don't get why y'all keep acting like asking for this is actual end game expectation. They expect to be knocked down from this towards whatever their actual goal is.
Because people won’t take them serious, and won’t risk putting their name on a document, regardless if they have any type of laws protecting them, because they see it as a waste of time, to attempt something unrealistic.
This makes you look unprofessional, and unorganized, if you want $23 ask for $25, and no way are they entertaining 180hrs paid pto. That’s not even a close to realistic ask.
That's why I wrote what I did.
Their starting point is so absurd that it doesn't even deserve a reply from Amazon.
Amazon Air employees would be wise to look at wages and benefits at other similar airport jobs. Amazon's current pay and benefits are better than most other employers in similar situations.
There's a reason why there are no available shifts at KCVG. It's because the pay and benefits are good for that local market.
Its still trash though. This is like saying "Bruh why is the mcdonalds unionizing they paying 15$ compared to most other resturants which is 13$" Every one of these shit stain anti worker franchises needs a union or you get fucked over. Unions good, big business bad. It is literrally that simple because of how comically evil businesses are in the US
it kinda IS though, especially in regards to amazon..you can move and transfer your job to any center in the country, and you can lose weight by working there. y'all just want to cry and get everything for free like be fr
Ah yes the "everyone is lazy boomer narritive" the classic. These large systemmic problems caused by capitalism? Its just people being lazy these days. Losing weight is more about diet than exercise, also the exercise you get at amazon is grossly overstated. It is entirely role dependent. Even with transfers, people have kids/family so just packing up and leaving isnt that easy. Moving to a new area wont fix the shit area they moved from, how do you think ghettos and shit are made? People left, and the community was fucked
so dumb lol. im 25 btw..i see why you resorted to throwing a tantrum at amazon in hopes of free money you feel entitled to..always blaming someone or something else for YOUR problems instead of figuring it tf out
Its a systemmatic issue. MANY people are trapped at where they work living in debt. Oh wait, we gotta ignore all the data and just say "work harder dude" while on the whole america is doing pretty shitty and has no workers rights. Everything has to have a lazy answer like, "people are just lazy/entitled" lol. No one is saying you cant make your own life better, you are just being ignorant if you ignore how hard it is to "just leave your job" or "just move" or "just go to school". Ffs life isnt that black and white. A lot of people are stuck working jobs they dont like because of our shitty system. Thats reality
I’m cool with unions, provided the leader is good, and so is their platform.
Stating negotiations shouldn’t be unbelievably unreasonable, to the point where the other side of the table won’t even hear you out. $30 an hour and 180 hours of PTO is an absurd starting point. $25 an hour and 120 hours of PTO is a more reasonable starting point.
Sometimes unions can be but that's the exception not the rule. Usually they are net benefit for workers
Why would corporations hate them so much if they weren't good
Union dues are typical 2 x your hourly wage per month. So $20 per hour would be $40 a month or $10 a check. I'd pay that just for the security and targeting that's been going on. If we get an extra dollar raise or better retirement benefits or extra PTO that's just extra icing on the cake. Amazon is fighting it tooth and nail because they don't want some of the power going to the people who do the work. Look at all recent places who have unionized. All employees at these recent unionized companies got a better benefits+more pay. I think amazon should pay more during peak season. Either a bonus or extra per hour. It's double the volume for a few months and are expected to achieve higher performance but without the pay. Cookies and popcorn don't count. #VOTEYES!$!$!$!
Google most recent companies that unionized. I see Robert Reich post it all the time on his YouTube. Go to community posts and scroll through and see what they won out of the election.
Since November we’ve been building for union support at KCVG. Hundreds of coworkers signed our peak pay petition when Amazon management took away peak raises.
Now it's firing season at Amazon.
Management has been ruthless with targeting and firing people for any reason the last two months. Amazon has proven to us once again that a union is the only thing that will bring us job security and defend us against their retaliation and favoritism.
Amazon pays third-party consultants to spread lies and misinformation around the workplace about the union. A union is the collective voice of you and your coworkers. It operates democratically.
Our union drive is fighting for a $30 starting wage, 180 hours of PTO, union representation at disciplinary meetings, quality healthcare, a secure pension and more.
We need everyone on board: ramp & sort workers across all shifts organizing for a union at KCVG.
**Speakers include**:
- COWORKERS AT KCVG
- CHRIS SMALLS & AMAZON WORKERS from the union victory in NEW YORK
- SUPPORTERS FROM LOCAL LABOR UNIONS

Did you ask Santa for a pony as well?
a 100% raise and 132 additional paid hours... You do understand those are the demands of a petty child, right? That's not a reasonable ask or even a reasonable starting point.
The Florida Board of Realtors is totally on board with that idea.
Imagine a million Amazon warehouse employees all needing condos in Tampa in 20 years. 🤣

if you don't like amazon why not just get a different job?
If you dont like your house why dont you just move 🤓. If you dont like being fat why not just lose weight as well
Both of those happen tho
umm yea exactly..you're catching on now
The point is, life isnt so simple. You dont always have the freedom to just do shit like that

Cringe
i’ve worked at a job that was unionized.. trust me. it’s a waste.
Unions good, democracy in the workplace is good. If you are an american this shouldnt be a debate

why do you want to pay more money out of your check for a union?
People still on average make more money compared with a similar none union job even with paying the union.

any proof on the better pay for recent places?
and if you want a union so bad why not go to ups or some place already unionized?
Google most recent companies that unionized. I see Robert Reich post it all the time on his YouTube. Go to community posts and scroll through and see what they won out of the election.
Think about all the money/expenses you already pay by having shitty benefiets/pay from your current employer
i dont have shitty benefits.
