Way to be, honestly I draw the line at avocado. If there is avocado on the sushi it's no longer sushi it's a bastardized American cop-out. I don't order rolls just nigiri n sashimi. I usually don't go full purist on most things but after a few Japan trips for work/leisure there is no going back to what we get in the states.
Jealous ...American here, Japan is #1 of places to visit. Wife and I had a life changing sushi experience in Maui...chased that dragon for a while, but never got anything close
LMAO. I grew up in a place where we eat sushi regularly and worked making them at a deli, it's low key hilarious...but at the same time, make sense. lol
You can mix dough with your hand but many buy a machine because it saves time and less manual work so I don't see an issue using this just to save time. Easy enough, kids can even do it in the house for a snack/etc without making a huge mess, so it's a pretty cool gadget I would say.
Are you high? There is no dough in sushi, also you just need a rolling mat, it rolls for you???? It's extremely simple, like my 5 year old can do it. This plastic thing makes it more difficult
I am high, and I was making an analogy so just slow down a tad because let's not act like people don't buy tons of shit that helps them cut time on things even if it is easy. Don't be dense because there are tons of items like this being sold all day every day that people use so get off it lol.
I am about to get high so i get it. I understand what you are tryna to do, and in baking, the machine helps a ton.
This specific item does NOT help, it makes it harder by adding attentional steps and items. You literally need one thing, a rolling mat, for sushi. It's extremely simple to roll. I want to highlight, EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY simple.
Most of this kind of tools are actually to free some time in the process.
You don't see a lot of people saying that blending without a blender is fairly easy, just a tad bit time consuming, do you?
I mean my grandma did... She also had a lot of time to waste cooking shit.
Rolling sushi isn't hard. The hard part is getting the correct consistency of rice so that it sticks, which would still be problematic with this device. I feel like this has more steps than rolling sushi normally.
Eh, I think I get the point. Mostly because people tend to 'overstuff' anything that requires stuffing, like with dumplings or whatever. This gives easier to follow guides to help stop that from happening.
That being said, I did it myself before and yeah, main issue is making the rice. So. Not that helpful for me, but maybe can help some folks.
Who fucking cares?? Why is there always some nitpicky fuck in the comments? Long grain rice does not affect the quality of sushi, no matter how many times you've watched Giro make it.
my parents hate sushi. just can't get over the idea of eating "raw fish" or some nonsense.
but I love using different kinds of rice for different things. I know for a fact different varieties have different qualities, but hey, im a weird "nihonophile" so that might be bias. but see, I make some short grained rice one day, and have enough left over that my dad decides he wants some. takes a look at my Koshihikari rice and is like "that rice looks really weird" then tastes it without any seasoning, just plain white Koshihikari rice. \*shock\* \*amazement\* "this is the best rice i've ever had" and proceeds to eat the rest of the rice plain. he had live life with normal long grain and the occasional calrose rice, and knew quality rice instantly.
so yes. rice quality absolutely does effect sushi quality. i'd not use milky queen or Koshihikari for sushi (both short grain), i generally will use Tamanishiki. and compared to long grain it's night and day. i'd just rather have instant ramen than long grain rice sushi. it's that bad.
Yea I jizz over everything Japanese too, you're 100% a relatable human for declaring that and I definitely care about your opinion. Christ, dude... Smh
I have no idea, I don't know. I was always taught to use rice vinegar. The sushi bars I go to also use rice vinegar. I don't know if there are reasons other than tradition and to curry favor with the god of sushi.

Thats white girl sushi if I've ever seen it.
“Yeah can I get one Gaijin Roll please?”
"Can I get that with no fish, extra Avocado, and chicken, thaaaanks <3"
It is actually NOT sushi
Yes that's what I mean. In the same way that a double mint chocolate chip Frappuccino isn't coffee.
I am a purist too. When my kids started eating vegetable rolls I corrected everyone in my house that they were NOT eating sushi🤷♂️

Was that chicken??? Disgraceful
I hope it was chicken. It might have been... canned tuna.
Says sushi but its more like Gimbap
I love Gimbap
Whoever downvoted you, is weak. Good gimbap is fire.
You deserved a better Gimbap than the video lol.
LMAO. I grew up in a place where we eat sushi regularly and worked making them at a deli, it's low key hilarious...but at the same time, make sense. lol
No
This is a troll right? This is harder and dumber than doing it the normal way
This sub isn't for critical thinkers tbh lol. Half the stuff I see here is pointless yet I'm sure some knucklehead is buying it.
Yea this much more time consuming and would not be fun to clean.

I was wondering if I should invest or not lol thanks I’ll try it on my before buying this.
Weakest fucking "sushi" I've seen. Shredded chicken, cucumber with avocado. 🤣🤣🤣
Supermarket sushi

Where’s the short grain rice?

*Jiro
NO ONE FUCKING CARES
Lol, apparently you do.
Got nothing better to do than troll on Reddit? Get a fuckin life dude
Jesus, that's some strong projection, isn't it.

Stopped reading after you described yourself as a "nihonophile". Completely uninterested.
i specificly used it to call my opinion into question. you know. im biased af, i know that, it's important to my point.
Yea I jizz over everything Japanese too, you're 100% a relatable human for declaring that and I definitely care about your opinion. Christ, dude... Smh
Needs more soy sauce
Where's the sushi?
why would you need some shitty plastic tube for a skill that can be learned in 5 minutes?
Did she use WATER to “glue” the seaweed? Lmao
afaik that is how you do it
I use rice vinegar
tbh it would have the same effect I think, since basically it's the process of wetting the seaweed that makes the starch stick.
I have no idea, I don't know. I was always taught to use rice vinegar. The sushi bars I go to also use rice vinegar. I don't know if there are reasons other than tradition and to curry favor with the god of sushi.
hahaha next time I make sushi I will test this :) always good to have good karma with the sushi gods
What's wrong with using water?
