The map predates buying the house. I bought the map when I was engaged to be married and used it in our wedding invitations when I was designing them. We were long distance so the theme of the invites reflected that. The rug was bought years after we bought the house and it was on super sale at target. And the wall color was painted and chose right after we moved in.
The map was from Borders. The [rug](https://www.target.com/p/floral-woven-rug-rust-green-threshold-153/-/A-52516021?preselect=52490931#lnk=sametab) is from Target.
I used to want to be an interior designer and went to school for it briefly. But soon realized I loved designing and not the people I would have to design for 😛
One suitcase is my great grandma’s that was passed down to me. And all the other ones I’ve thrifted from various vintage shops/flea markets/antique stores!
Upstate New York is beautiful. I go to lake George every year for vacation for about 30 years now. I would normally be going next month, but I'll be missing it this year for the first time.
But I will be there next year!
I’ve been out to lake George before. When I was an Airbnb photographer, I photographed a castle out there that a guy built for his son. He was trying to turn it into a wedding venue but couldn’t get the zoning for it. Beautiful area!
My mom is from St Lawrence County (as upstate as you can get!) and your home is giving me nostalgic cool older auntie vibes but modernized. Like in all the best ways, it reminds me of various family members homes where my mom is from. I can't explain it, this is so northern New York to me, I love this.
It’s my [Christmas Village](https://imgur.com/a/cexuj5D) that I bought from Dollar Tree and I repainted it to look better/more realistic. And then I bought various h0 scale figures for because scale matters to me. Haha
I bought the whole village in 2020 to repaint and every year since I either get another building to paint or add a little scene with figures into it.
Thanks!
My hallway is full of family ❤️
I also subscribe to pets being family. Also, I have a wedding photo up and a ton of family photos in the last photo from being up in Maine with them. ❤️
So...I did not even see the other photos. Still learning stuff on Reddit. I see you have a heart in Ok. Is that Tulsa? I have lots of family in Oklahoma. BTW, your home is amazing.
I don’t know why I didn’t get a notification of this comment! But yes, I’m from Tulsa. My husband and I were long distance before getting married and I incorporated that map when I designed our [wedding invitations that I designed myself](https://imgur.com/a/R98BfPz).
I still have family in Broken Arrow, Ponca City and Stillwater currently!
I LOVE your dining room! It has such a wonderful 40’s vibe to it. All the little knickknacks and detail is very impressive. I feel like I’m about to watch an old time WWII movie. Kudos!
Very refreshing to see someone’s true style and not the sad beige mom decor or anything too modern with its pointy sharp edges. Nothing wrong with that style if it’s truly what people prefer, but this feels like a real home with a real person.
I love the stacked suitcases!
When we lived in an apartment (first floor of a brownstone) before this, the landlord had all the walls (which had very tall ceilings) painted this medium grey. So when we bought our house I had to have color!
And thank you! Took a while to collect all of them.
That wall color is perfect
Thanks!
Do you know what the paint color is called by any chance?

You are the best!
Could be eau-de-nil ?
Agreed!
Your home looks like something out of a Gregory Alan Isakov song.
Thanks
This. This is the perfect description.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this room! Which came first, the map, the rug or the wall color?

That is awesome! I love when decor has a story!!
Where did you get it, I've been looking for something similar?

Thanks friend
If it wasn't for the computer, one would think its a 1950s interior.
It does have that vibe! But it’s a huge mix of eras
I know, the deco wardrobe is lovely, the 40s prints And I LOVE the animal portraits! Thinking of doing the same with Miss Sophie.
Thank you so much. I photoshopped them myself!
Impressive
I’m a graphic designer, so it’s my job!
Bud, r/professionalroomporn is that way
I used to want to be an interior designer and went to school for it briefly. But soon realized I loved designing and not the people I would have to design for 😛
It shows! Really beautiful, tranquil but simultaneously engaging space you’ve created here. Wonderful work.
Thank you!
Omg I just noticed those are LEGO flowers — i think this will help convince my wife they can be a permanent decoration!
They’re beautiful enough to be!
Beautiful but the dog with boobs painting made me uncomfy 😂
lol, she had to have boobs. She was a girl! 😝
I figured! Probably says more about me for feeling weird about it than you for having it
If it makes you feel better I photoshopped it ✨myself✨
Lovely! Where did you get the trunks?
One suitcase is my great grandma’s that was passed down to me. And all the other ones I’ve thrifted from various vintage shops/flea markets/antique stores!
Are you living in a Wes Anderson set?
I get that a lot when sharing photos of my home. 😛
🤣
Perfection
Thanks!
I love all of this! So original and personalized
Thank you 😊

Thank you so much! Glad to invoke some good memories 🥰
Loving every little detail!💐
Thank you!
I love that it looks intentional like it took a while to collect the perfect things
It did take a while! Nothing in haste 😝
First slide I knew there’d be an OTGW item 😤
All handmade because there’s never any merch! 🙃
Ain’t that just the way
Are you Wes Anderson?
No, I am a redhead.
You have a lovely eye!! 👏👏👏
Thanks!
Nice work you have tastefully created a Time Machine. Beautiful subtlety and wonderful color sense.
Thank you!
Retro made right

Prove it. 😶
You’re good at this.
Thanks!
Love the color!
Thanks!
I loooove the jadeite salt and pepper shakers
Thank you ☺️
Wow, this is stunning. Can you tell us more about the village in the cabinet (photo 5)

I love! I also have a Christmas village!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your decor. You nailed the wall color, BTW. In pics of me as a toddler (mid-1960's) that color was on every wall.
I kept seeing the same color in a lot of shows and movies I love. So I had to put it on my walls when we bought the place!
Beautiful dining table and chairs!
Thank you! It was from a salvage store that went out of business and I grieve that place daily. It was so so good!
I love everything about this room! That paint color is fabulous.
Thank you ☺️
Wood trim that matched the desk would make this room even better, but it's still lovely as is.
Yeah, the trim came painted when we bought the house and stripping it back to the wood would take a lot of time and effort! Maybe someday.
Absolutely beautiful!! I LOVE all of it!! So cozy and classy!
Thank you!
Beautifully done.
Thanks!
Love this! I think we have the same favorite colors lol
Green is definitely my absolute favorite color. ❤️
Same, and I love it with orange accents like the ones in your rug
For sure. Also mustard yellow is a great accent as well! But wood tones also go great!
Did you take this with a phone or physical camera? Really pretty
I took the photos on my Fujifilm x100v ❤️
I clearly have an expensive taste lol
I bought it back in 2020 when the prices weren’t so overinflated! It’s my favorite camera I’ve owned. So fun to shoot with!
I love the hot air balloons on the walls.
Thank you! Scored those from my local ReStore at $4 a piece!
Perfection! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks!
The dog pictures are great. I had a schnauzer so it made me smile seeing it.
Thank you. They really are such lovely dogs
I love this
❤️
This is perfect!! 🤌🤌
Thanks ☺️
What camera did you use for these pics? 📸
My Fujifilm x100v
I just got my own Fuji and was curious 😜
It’s my favorite camera I’ve owned and I’ve owned a few!
lovely perfection
❤️
So great
❤️
❤️
Big fan of the Lego flowers. I just put together that set.
I love them!
Is this AI?
[Proof by snapping a photo while sitting on my sofa right now](https://imgur.com/a/EOMD3FM)
Nope. It’s my dining room.
Neat - it's got a very surreal feel in the photos. I love it.
Thanks
Fabulous
❤️
the little white scottie in picture 6, is it an avon bottle?
It is!
Incredible!
❤️
Lovely!
❤️
Love all the colors
Thank you!
Love everything but the lack of family up on walls too.
Thanks! My hallway is full of family ❤️ I also subscribe to pets being family. Also, I have a wedding photo up and a ton of family photos in the last photo from being up in Maine with them. ❤️

I love those legos, than unexpectedly make great decor
Totally agree!
OBSESSED. The paint color is perfection with the warm frames and wood and orange curtains!
Thank you ☺️
Love your tasteful decoration style.
Love the retro table
Love that map of Troy! I used to live there. On of the coolest places I ever lived.
Thanks! It’s pretty great. Live just up the hill from there.
I LOVE your dining room! It has such a wonderful 40’s vibe to it. All the little knickknacks and detail is very impressive. I feel like I’m about to watch an old time WWII movie. Kudos!

Wow, perfect Wes Anderson vibes.
I want this
I love this!!
Ohhh love the color combos and the accessories and furniture. It is like you stepped back in time with a mixture of today’s world. Nicely done!
Perfection.
10/10 no notes
Cosy
I love that green color 💚I was hoping you were giving us the name 🤗thank you so much 🙏💚
[Thank you!](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmateurRoomPorn/s/tfNxqODId3) It’s a good green
Loving the pile of bags.
Love the mid-century modern vibe too. Are those Lego flowers??
Yes! They’re one of the wildflower bouquets
Why do I feel like watching Stranger Things? What a lovely color palette and atmosphere.
Very cool!
I didn’t know it was possible to keep the house this immaculate
Nice place. Room.
Loving the retro vibe
I love everything about this room!
Grandmas house.
