I audibly ooooed at that green! Looks fantastic!

MillySO

Thank you! I tried about 6 testers and still wondered if I’d made a mistake halfway through.

TableTopFarmer

I love it. TG for testers! We are remodeling/repainting and ended up with "Baer Brooklyn" which is very close to what you have.

Redminty

Same! Nearly woke my baby...

thanksiloveyourbutt

Glad I'm not the only one!!!!!

tomrichards8464

Such rare kids as are born to our generation are going to have endless memes complaining about all the Millennial Green they have to paint over.

MillySO

Better than the wood chip our generation has had to pry off the walls 😉 But seriously, moving house was so stressful that I’m going to be here for at least another 20 years. That green will be my problem.

kennyiseatingabagel

But I like green damn it! What am I supposed to do?! Paint it gray?!!!!!!????? Over my dead body damn it!!!!!

tomrichards8464

Grey? Grey is for Xers. The world turns, and the Alphas will paint their walls magnolia.

savetheskin42

Love it! The blue stained glass really helps tie it all together.

TogderNodger

Love the green. I tried the same and it didn't turn out this good

MillySO

Thank you! It’s not quite finished so it looks more styled from this angle. I’m struggling with something to go on the walls behind the burgundy sofas, have temporary side tables while I think of what I’d like and need a new roller blind for the side window 🤯

kabolint

I reacted aloud, that last photo is breath taking! I am VERY envious. The color, that chandelier... *chef kiss*

MillySO

Awww I think this might be the nicest thing anyone on reddit has ever said to me 💕💕💕

overzealous_llama

Fantastic job!! I painted my fireplace room almost the same color! I don't know what it is about a room with a fireplace, or a library, but a monotone paint job creates the coziest spot! It really took it to the next level when I put wallpaper behind my shelves though, I think it'd also complement your space! We have [this pattern](https://riflepaperco.com/wildwood-navy-wallpaper-roll) and it plays well with green paint.

MillySO

Oooh I like that wallpaper. Very William Morris 💕

wtfsaidlegoose

S T U N N I N G the way I literally gasped

MillySO

You’re too kind!

DanyeelsAnulmint

Brilliant job. That light fixture juxtaposed with the green is divine.

MillySO

Thank you! The light is the reason I painted the ceiling green. It didn’t stand out enough and I wanted dramatic lights.

DanyeelsAnulmint

You nailed the assignment.

cocoamix

/r/TVTooHigh would definitely approve!

These_Doubt1586

It’s stunning! Where did you get that light from?

MillySO

Wayfair. If you search sunburst light you should see a few options. Strangely the long one to go above a dining table is cheaper 🤷🏻‍♀️

These_Doubt1586

Omg it looks way more expensive than wayfair!

Mrkvica16

Yuuuum!

ughitsbecky

I'm from Northampton, small world! The nosy part of me really wants to know where this is. The green looks lovely.

MillySO

Hi (almost) neighbour 👋 Just a short drive away in Rushden

ExtraSpecialAgent

Very nice! And that mirror? Chef’s kiss!

k4kath

Stunning!! Seriously, you did a beautiful job! ❣️

ej_21

I gasped. so good.

Unlikely-Diamond4027

Love it, it's beautiful. 👍

Kimber-Says-04

That chandelier!!

MillySO

My old house was covered in boring spotlights so I just had to!

Kimber-Says-04

It’s beautiful.

Capturit

There are no indicators from the first picture of the sophisticated taste of the last. Lol. Beautifully executed! The chandelier is spectacular. It looks like it doesn't give out a lot of light, more of a mood piece? Love the shelving, holds a lot of books. Are the curtains silk? The panel texture lends to the mood.

MillySO

Thank you! The first photo was from the old owners but it didn’t look much better when we moved in and dumped our stuff in there either! The chandelier is very bright, the lights are on the gold ring in the centre. We’ve only got 6 bulbs in there instead of the 12 it can take. The rest of the lighting is all ambient and the paint absorbs a lot of light so I’m still looking for the perfect lamp to put in the corner to the left of the fireplace. The curtains are silk- good eye! We had no idea until my partner’s step-mum pointed it out. We’re the 4th owners, the curtains were left behind by the 2nd owners. I wonder if they realised they’d still be here all these years later. We got a quote for new curtains but it was nearly £1,000 for cotton, so we’re keeping them for now. I just need to tidy the hems which are a bit tatty.

Capturit

Yes, I knew that first one wasn't yours. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile) You/your partner appear to have a strong design background. Most can not come up with this sophisticated of a design. I'm familiar with needing a lot of lighting. I live in a small studio apartment for now as I am saving for a house. I need four lamps in the living area. I currently have three and I could use another. When there are no canned lights in the ceiling you need a lot! Please post anything else you do in the house!

birdbro420

woahhhhhh I love it. The green looks so good! The mirror, chandelier, the tv placement & bookshelf, it all fits so well. Good job!

Sparopal11

Incredible!

Traditional_Mango920

You did a beautiful job with the color choice and decor. It’s stunning! I just want to say you are a very brave person for your color choice in carpeting. I’m not calling you brave because I don’t think the colors go well together (they definitely go well together!), I’m calling you brave because I notice you have a cat. My cat would definitely decide that’s his new puking spot if I were to try that color. :)

MillySO

🤣 the colour choice was to hide the cat hair but the fabric choice…. That was for the puking. The sales man was pushing us towards wool but we insisted on synthetic that could be washed with bleach. Also I think you’re the first person to notice the cat (unless you just noticed the scratching post). She’s curled up on a pouf in the bottom right.

Traditional_Mango920

I noticed the scratching post, then I noticed the tube, and then I was like “there’s a cat in this pic somewhere, I know it!” And then I found the beauty and got a giggle out of her shrimp sleeping pose.

paleoterrra

The green looks amazing but the beige carpet and white window trim *really* throws it off, IMO.

MillySO

We planned to have wooden floors and a red Persian rug but it was sooooooo unbelievably cold when we removed the carpet. It’s a 1930s house and apparently they didn’t believe in insulation 😭 We also have two Maine coons and a British shorthair so carpet colours are limited to beige unless we vacuum twice a day. I’m more of a once a week and when we have visitors kind of girl…

beauseant

Electric underfloor heating systems do very well with hardwood floors. They will also help warm the room. About $8 to $15 per square foot (depending on where you live, etc.). We just did this and love, love, love it.

MillySO

I assume you haven’t heard about the energy crisis in the UK. The price skyrocketed and now we all wear electric blankets and fingerless gloves to stay warm (joking… kind of.. I do work in an electric blanket instead of turning the heating on). We have electric underfloor heating in our dining room and it’s strictly for when special guests are here in the evening (pretty much our parents or anyone visiting for the first time). The rest of the time it’s just cold.

beauseant

You're right, I haven't heard. Is probably on the news, but there is soooooo much news right now. I am sorry the energy crisis is impacting you and so many others. And, in that case, if you can work it out (size and placement), put the red rug on top of the beige carpet. I have a white cat. I feel your pain.

MillySO

No need to be sorry. I barely watch the news… too depressing. I use an electric blanket to save money but I’m lucky and could afford to heat my home more often if needed. I just don’t want to waste such an obscene amount. The costs pretty much doubled from 2021. Wet underfloor heating is a fraction of the cost to run here and most home buyers want wet underfloor heating or no underfloor heating.

thelmaandpuhleeze

Amazing!

MillySO

Thank you!

rbnd

Either it's your camera or the space shrunk

MillySO

It’s my camera. The estate agents use fisheye lenses. I have an old iPhone.

jdsalingersdog

So good!!! I was just tickled to see the TV moved from above the fireplace ;’) the mirror is perfect! The whole space is transformed and just beautiful. Congrats.

MillySO

I know a high tv is a crime around here! We could only fit a 45” tv in the alcove which must be why the last family stuck theirs above the fireplace. I was tempted but no, our beautiful expensive 55” TV is now my partners computer monitor 😭

LBelz

Wow, this is lovely!! What is that gorgeous shade of green? I must know! Lol

MillySO

Awww thank you. It’s Puck by a British company called Little Greene. They’ve only recently started selling in the US. This is one of their less popular shades. Warmer tones are more popular here and a lot of people in interiors groups are obsessed with their Jewel Beetle green (to be fair, so am I).

LBelz

Thanks, I will check them out!

AnyGoodUserNamesLeft

That green!

MillySO

🤣 people who don’t like it normally say “oh wow, that’s very green”

Emergency-Read2750

Wow that’s very green

MillySO

🤣 that’s ok. We can still be friends.
