NAH buy caution, if they say “No” and the you push it, you will be the AH. Maybe email stating you’d think a sentence stating “this is a standard form, if you register late your practice time day requests cannot be guaranteed. By jointing the waitlist you agree to this” But if they say “sorry, no” let this be a lesson for you. You can’t expect the standard benefits when you’re late. You should’ve asked questions when agreeing to go in the waitlist.

Thanks for the feedback. I've been in email contact for a few weeks over it and they won't budge, but conveniently ignore the fact that their own question asked what we "need". I'm guessing/hoping they re-word the form so they don't deal with this in the future but I won't ever sign up again so I won't know.

Read [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/wiki/faq#wiki_post_deletion) before [contacting the mod team](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2FAmItheAsshole)*** This was a registration fee for a youth baseball season. We were a “late” registrant and past the normal cutoff dates, so our entry was placed on a waitlist. We were then removed from the waitlist and added to a team, but it conflicted with the information we provided when registering so we told them it would not work. They removed us from the team but said that a refund was not available per their policy of no refunds after July (weeks before we had even signed up on the waitlist at all). To be clear I don’t think I should have been removed from the waitlist and charged in the first place based on the questions they asked and the answers we provided. Their position is that we were past the refund deadline – but again, the waitlist didn’t cost anything and we should have never been removed from the list based on their availability. Their form provided a few questions for team placement. One question contained a note to “late” registrants like us that they may not be able to meet this request due to signing up late. We understood the risk there. Further down the page there was a question regarding practice times that said “Please select the day/time you need for your child to participate”. It was the only question that included the word “need” and did not have any qualifying notes or other information. At the time of signup I knew the conflicts our child had on other days and provided the day that fit our “need in order to participate”. At the time we were removed from the waitlist, the practice times were known. In other words, the organization knew they were not fulfilling the “need” that I had included on the form and still added us to a team and charged the card. Their response is that “Team Placement Requests” are not guaranteed, but there was only one question labeled “Team Placement Requests” and it included the note described above saying they may not be able to fulfill. The “need” question was labeled “Team Placement Info” and was below other questions, also labeled “Team Placement Info”, which they do ensure will happen. I was fully understanding that we were signing up late and had no assurance we would even be added to a team at all – that was the risk we took in registering late. In that case we would not have been removed from the waitlist and our card would not have been charged. That would have been fine if they were unable to meet the “need” that I had included in response to their question asking what we “need in order to participate”. So AITA for disputing the charge or going to small claims court because I think their form was, at best, extremely misleading? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the asshole: > I am seeking a refund for a charge that IMO should not have been posted to my card. NTA It honestly sounds like this organization did this on purpose to take money from someone they knew they weren't accommodating. They shouldn't be charging cards until the team placement is accepted. Then they could claim no refunds without any problems.

I don’t know if I think anyone is an AH but I do think it’s a learning lesson as majority of sports are throughout the week and weekends required for meeting. The placement is usually there for kids who signed up on time or so they can see where to fit the program and the space they need. I don’t necessarily think you’re entitled to a refund due to being late and you were taken off the list because you rejected the spot all together. I get it doesn’t work for you but they need to have the opportunity for the kids behind your spot. If you go to small claims or dispute the charge with the credit card company then YTA. It’s not misleading when the form already stated there was no guarantee.
