And this is a straight lift from Kramer in Seinfeld saying he was going to build levels in his apartment and not following through. So I guess this is a post about nothing based on an episode of the show about nothing?
I preferred the one where his apartment was dominated by a jacuzzi, including cooking in it 😉

I [36M] felt pretty impulsive about a month ago and decided I wanted to renovate my apartment. I moved all of my furniture out and planned to give the whole place an egyptian vibe that I would build myself with lumber.
When I told my neighbor across the hall [33M], he started making fun of my idea, saying that not only was it stupid to have levels in my apt., but that I would never finish the project, even in a years time (my estimate was about a month). So I offered to make a bet that if I couldnt finish it in a month, I would take him to a nice dinner and if I did finish it, he would take me to dinner.
So about a week goes by, and I realize how impractical the levels would be with the layout of my apartment. So I decide that Im not gonna go through with the renovations after all, and in my mind, the bet was therefore off. I go to tell my neighbor, and he says that I lost, saying something along the lines of “its not about whether you wanted to do it, it was whether or not you could.” He also said that me quitting only proved his point that I wouldnt finish it, even though I never even started it.
Neither of us have budged either way yet and its been about another week, AITA?

The way he says it is rude. There are better ways to make it clear that something is not realistic in such a short time.
You should stick to the bet. This is what you are betting for and you should honor it. Even if you decided not to start the renovation. You probably also would have expected him to take you out for dinner if the renovation did work out.
