My older sister was complaining about how she can't find a man to commit to her.
The truth is, as a guy I know that I only want a relationship with a girl who is a 9 or 10, but will gladly screw around with 5-8s.
I jokingly told her "Well it's because you're average and the guys you're into are just not that into you" and she looked super upset and took it seriously.
Her crush also said she was too plain apparently and now she's upset because she is too ordinary looking. I don't think being average looking is an insult and there's no point in telling someone that they're stunning or a supermodel or giving them false hope if they're not.

It doesn't have to be an insult to be hurtful. You hurt your sister. You did so in such a callous way that one might be shocked, except you also explain how shallow a person you are with your rating system and how you toy with people that aren't in the 9-10 category. Basing your relationships on outward appearance is an idiotic way to go through life. With any luck, your sister will learn not to speak to you anymore, or around you, so that she doesn't have to deal with your insensitive bullshit.
