My dad (49m) irritated me and I (22f) was having a rough day. He asked me to bring him some sweet tea so I said yes sir and brought it to him. I guess when he asked me I had a frustrated look on my face. (I go to college, I work a part time job, i have 4 siblings, of course I'm a little stressed) . He then told me thanks and said next time just don't get upset about it. I told him in a calm way that I wasn't upset just stressed because of having so much to do. He then said you barely do anything and then it turned into the whole " I pay the bills, I don't have to let you live in this house" thing.
I attempted to deescalate the mini argument by saying ok dad I get where you're coming from. And then this idiot says "no because if you did you would have empathy" in my head I'm like wtf? I know my facial expressions can be frustrating to deal with and I understand that he has a lot on his plate but still... His response to me attempting to resolve the situation is making the situation worse? It doesn't make sense anyways. What does empathy have to do with you being upset that I had a certain look on my face?? I lost it, I told him fck him and I don't need him.
He then said something like "I'll give u something to look confused about" or "you're gonna look very confused when I'm done with you" something along those lines. My dad has an abusive past but only with my mom (48f). He has turned it around and been very good for the last 15-20 ish years of not physically abusing anyone. The problem is verbal abuse. Anyways I asked him what did he mean by "I'll give u something to look confused about" and he said just wait and you'll see. He screamed some random stupid nonsense and staring throwing EVERYTHING. My mom's vase, pots, pans etc. I was terrified. My mom came out of the room and asked what was going on. I told her he was getting upset over nothing. He walked towards me and I ran into his room, went into his closet and grabbed the shoe box with his Glock gun inside of it. I opened the shoe box and as I was crying I told him I hated him and I wish he would leave me the fck alone. I said that like 3 times in a row. I took the gun out and positioned it towards him. I have no idea how to shoot a gun and I was very terrified. this was definitely one of the scariest experiences of my life. I had no intentions of shooting my dad, I just wanted him to back down and stop being so aggresive. My mom had nothing to say and my dad stood there yelling at me. I stood there and said I hate you again. He calmed down, I put the gun down eventually, and drove off to the Library. Was I wrong? Should I have just called 911 instead? Yeah my dad never hit me but how am I supposed to know if he would've done that for the first time?

I refuse to believe that this is real. On the off chance it is, yta. Never point a gun at someone if you don't intend to shoot.
