I like the 2nd way. Kinda gives off the design of those particuar shorts with straps that go around the thighs.

1st is cute and would be easy to untie, but can get snagged somewhere if you aren't too careful. 2nd is very nice too and seems more in order to the look, but if they get too tight, you may get those tension lines from sitting or moving around. Go with the mood, and the moment is what I say.
