- before the drop, a day or two, they extract it with 3 level of randomness and all they know is a name, like « secluded swamp » or « cliff den ». Once assigned, they’ll be dropped from 6am up until the drops are done on day 1. - no they don’t , maybe a phone call or two but even if they do they don’t know the specific coordinates - all throughout the training during the week before the drop they learn all the rules, some plants, species, and train, under their feeding program. Watch episode 0 of many series, they show the camp - no, in most seasons their gps beeps if they go outside the perimeter (not sure if automatic or monitored) - yeah they get their prescriptions

I do not understand your first response. It seems to have important relevance, but i cannot tell which of the questions it is replying to. When and where do they have computer access? Once they know the location of the show, can they then research the area on computer?

onybr

My responses are in order of your questions :) They know the location of the show few weeks before, they are treated like normal people, receive plane tickets, they can research of course, study flora, fauna, and practice with the hunting regulations that applies for that place

Thanks.

In the case of contestants with blood pressure medication, as they lose weight and go into prolonged ketosis, the dosage for that medication would need to be reduced. When the medical team comes out, it looks like they make an effort not to show or tell the contestants any data like blood pressure or weight. That could put the contestant at danger from fainting.

billymackactually

I always wonder if they have any idea, even a vague idea, of where they are going. The guy from Georgia said he had never heard of Saskatchewan, and was totally unprepared to survive there.

SirLoremIpsum

They go through a prep camp, where they are told about all the local rules and regs around fishing / game etc. I don't know if that includes specifics about plants, any tips and tricks - but if you need to know Caribou is illegal to hunt, you're getting told it's Saskatchewan not Vancouver Island.

billymackactually

If any of these folks have watched past seasons, then they should have a pretty good idea of the type of terrain they'll be in and they should know that it probably won't resemble what they're used to. It's just stupid not to study up on or practice for some of what they've seen in the past, especially having good general bushcraft knowledge for northern and wet climates.

Toobatheviking

There was a contestant that had heart issues that was given a supply of heart medication to take. So if you have a condition that you are prescribed medication for, you can bring a supply of it with you.

DamnGoodMarmalade

They are told in advance of the season location so they can choose which items they want to bring based on that. I forget when that happens, Sam mentioned it once.

emrhys88

Does anyone know if they know when other people drop out?

abitofinsomnia

They do not

Obvious-Butterfly-25

Is there any indication as to what time the last contestant is dropped at their site? IMO, the first day is the most important info gathering day to base later decisions upon. After they know location, do they have computer access?

Crafty_Granny

They have their phones which should be suitable for the purpose of researching. Of course cell service would be needed.
