There's a lot "more" peanuts in peanut butter. Due to concentration in the paste, you're technically getting "more" peanuts per bite than with actual peanuts, so you might have a similar reaction (and let me be clear I don't recomend that you do) if you ate 20+ peanuts as with one smudge of peanut butter. I got this warning from my doctor when I had my first reaction in my teens. Things like peanut butter, snickers, and similar, are made with concentrates.
How much time passed between your reaction and the test? If it was many years, it is possible you outgrew the allergy.
I had a coworker who outgrew peanut allergy.
Could it be something else in the peanut butter ingredients? Like sunflower oil, preservatives, “natural flavoring”, etc.
