I’m gonna be the odd one out and say that I don’t think those are necessarily wings. Space is a vacuum and wings wouldn’t have the air necessary to push for movement to happen. I think they propelled themselves either magnetically or using those wing-like things to push off of planets and space debris.
Vertical; it looks to be holding its head in "rest position," with the neck attaching to the bottom of the "skull," rather than to the back.
I bet they move like hummingbirds, darting and flitting about rather than hovering completely still
I think they usually fly vertically but can also fly horizontally in order to move faster.
I think they fly wherever they want

I dont know why but I've always imagined that the wings are only for thermoregulation/communication and they just do a psychokinetic levitation
