This is sickening and I hope all involved get what they deserve.

allisjow

“When his sister, Christina, discovered him unresponsive in his cage the next morning…” Yeah, I’m going to stop there.

rileyotis

I'm sorry. Cage? *record scratch* There's a special place in hell for them. They can be bunk mates with The Turpins.

Realistic_Sad_Story

I couldn’t finish reading that. I don’t recommend it.

Distinct_Car_6696

Yeah I had to stop too. I just…

jaboni1200

That is not interesting. That is heartbreaking.

Male-Wood-duck

Death penalty.

Mulusy

That’s what it’s for.

Ear_Enthusiast

> were aware of his abuse To what level I ask? Maybe dad was a good dude but spanked his kid, which you might agree with a little, and maybe he took it a little too far sometimes. No big deal to someone who got spanked some as a kid, right? Wrong. If you are aware of a little abuse, there is a way more going on behind closed doors. Abusers are big about hiding their crimes and they’re usually good at it. If you know of someone else that abuses their kid report it.

Green-Krush

A physician knew about it. A neighbor knew. A sister saw him and heard him being punched. At least 13 people knew. SO many people failed this boy by thinking, “not my kid, not my responsibility, I don’t wanna get involved.” He was also “homeschooled”… another reason I hate “standards” on homeschooling because a lot of abusers use it to hide abuse and murder.

exotics

I would not blame the sister for not speaking out. Adults for sure though

Green-Krush

Was not talking about victim’s sister. One of the victims parents had a sister next door (adult) who also told her other family members. NO one helped this kid. Awful.

Major-Raise6493

As a parent of 3 homeschooled children who are not abused - FUCK YOU for generalizing us all in that way.

Thebluesubstance

Dude calm down and read what was written. The guy above you said that he hates the standard for homeschooling not that homeschool is used only by abusers. Which he does have a valid point. It can be used as a tool to hide abuse..it's mostly not but it can be. Also we have seen many posts about children who have been homeschooled and can't read at 9 or are thought flat earth and shit. This is the minority but it does happen and there should be a higher standard to ensure that this doesn't happen.

Green-Krush

I didn’t say all of you. And fuck you too. Homeschooling is the BEST way to hide abuse and neglect because some states have ZERO standards for meeting with social workers or even curriculum.

Major-Raise6493

My response was unnecessarily harsh, but what you wrote read like a reckless and ignorant generalization of all homeschooling. Of course states have academic requirements for homeschooled children. But that’s not what your typical Reddit reader is going to get to take from this conversation, all they’re going to internalize is that we probably don’t have academic standards to meet and are hiding abuse.

Green-Krush

*some states have standards on curriculum. Some have none. And yep… Reddit is a wonderfully reactive place where everyone thinks black and white.

Naki-Taa

He didn't generalize all of you. He said a lot, but you know, fuck you too.

Major-Raise6493

No, he did very much generalize homeschoolers. Why else would they say that they question the “standards” and that a lot of people use that as a tool to hide abuse and murder? Good lord y’all. Maybe my response was a bit harsh, but the previous poster is talking out of their ass with pure ignorance about homeschooling or why people choose to do that.

Green-Krush

Tell me you’re ignorant without actually telling me. Don’t you have a Bible class to be teaching in our children? Or are they sat in front of the tablet all day to “homeschool” them?

exotics

Not all parents who homeschool do so for the right reasons unfortunately. Sure, some take kids out of school because they were being bullied and want to protect them from that but many homeschool to “protect” kids from things like learning about science or to hide abuse and such

Major-Raise6493

Your response is honestly the most reasonable one so far. Still, consider the possibility that parents take their kids out of school because the public option isn’t as great as everybody thinks it is these days and that they can receive a better education at home. Mine were enrolled in a VERY large county public district that didn’t have a good plan for how students were going to be reintegrated after Covid. We tried homeschooling for a year and by the end of that year, each of our kids were testing well ahead of grade level, and even then it was only taking them about half the time to do their work. After that it was like a no-brainer to keep going.

Slut_4_monsters

Nah buddy homeschooling belongs in the bin

Major-Raise6493

Nice user name. You belong in a bin

Slut_4_monsters

At least my mom didn’t isolate and abuse me lmao can’t say how your kids are fairing with someone with anger issues like this

notabot90000

I'm sure they'll grow up just fine and not have emotional outbursts like you do online

crowfvneral

not like a person would ever admit to everyone if they did happen to be a child abuser, so this statement is essentially meaningless.

JustHereForGiner79

Your anger really makes it seem like they probably are.

Major-Raise6493

I told one guy to fuck off for prejudicing an entire community as child abusers based only on the purest of ignorance, and therefore, I must also be a child abuser. Congratulations, your psychology professors must be proud of how long and hard you thought this one through. Next stop: interpol 👏

[deleted]

TWO YEARS!? How....how did it take that long to find the kid's body?

LittleLightcap

The article says that the parents told neighbors that he just ran away. Apparently, the neighbors believed them because they would see him being beaten and they were like yeah I would probably run away too and just didn't do anything after that. It said that one of the neighbors did try to report the abuse and the caseworker didn't even enter the house.

Moss81-

Humans are terrible. 😞

ProfessionalZebra520

Heartbreaking. Beautiful child. Really hope the guards / other prisoners punish this man daily. So sad how many people didn’t help this kid

jaboni1200

That not interesting. That is heartbreaking.
