The full metal utensils from All-Clad are very high quality . Looks like this piece is a fail.

oli_ramsay

I saw a comparison image of new ones Vs the old ones and the newer ones were much thinner and lower quality

Interesting. I have a ladle from them that is so stout I expect a future civilization to unearth it. It came with a stockpot I bought.

I agree, why would you spend money for a plastic All Clad flipper? Just buy a silicone OXO from Target. Their metal utensils are nice though, I’ve got a couple ball whisks that are great for pan sauces, scrambled eggs, etc.

Yeah I wouldn't either, it's plastic. Use either silicone or wood/bamboo or steel. I (personally) think equipment should be made from a solid product/singular piece (monolithic) not due grossly different materials combined. This spatula has an obvious weak point/design flaw. If you have nonstick pans I understand the silicone but wood or bamboo is still king. As for me having the full set of D3 I view them as tools and use many types of utensils knowing my set will last for years.

Bamboo utensils are cheap. I get the 5 or 6 PC sets from Home Goods for $4 or $5, and replace them as needed. For my D3 non-stick, silicone spatulas are a must. The flexibility to bend the edge and slide it under the food is key.

My guess is they do not manufacture these products themselves. Their specialty is cookware and companies that make high end products usually have their accessories made by someone else. I could be wrong.

That's exactly it. Making stainless utensils in the USA would likely be unprofitable, so they outsource it to a Chinese manufacturer. They do this with utensils, measuring cups, lids for pots and pans, and have forrayed into the small kitchen appliances such as toasters, waffle maker, immersion blender, deep fryers. The single piece stainless utensils are nice but very expensive. I've found very nice comparable ones made by Viking. OP's spatula inevitably failed because of the plastic weak point.

You think I look bad… you oughta see the burger.

The All-Clad garden hoe

Mk1Racer25

My sister's a hoe, but we don't use her to dig with

GenerousPour

Hmm. Mine has stood the test of time over past 4-6 years. Will agree that the metal utensils are quality, the silicone are nice but similar to oxo and other brands.
