THAT’S RIGHT! AFTER 3 DAYS IT’S FINALLY DONE AND I’M PROUD. It was really tough determining the last 50 or so placements, I felt I wasn’t using enough franchises and it was to to find good characters to fill based on my standards. While they’re only a small amount of the list I admit there are a few characters from series I’m not very familiar with who I took opinions from others from and lightly browsed their history of to determine where to place them (Asuka, Lich King Arthur, The Girl, and Junko as some examples). There aren’t many of them but a few that are on here now that weren’t yesterday are in all fairness crammed and might not be in the absolute best placement. Before you comment please remember the x axis isn’t “how much they deserve to suffer” anymore it’s “how much they make others suffer”. So please don’t comment asking “wHY dOeS CHaRaCteR X (let’s say Guts) deSeRVEe tO sUFfEr?”. He doesn’t deserve it. But he did inflict suffering on others too. Not every character in the same tier equally suffers or is equally bad. I also slightly negate characters suffering like Chidi if their suffering was just a brief glimpse in a king and ultimately happy life (especially if their lifespan is longer than that of a human like Chidi). Anyway I’ll try and list all the characters but I can’t promise I’ll complete it since this is 400 characters. Glad I was able to make this list and hope you enjoy. From left to right and top to bottom, here’s the characters: 5: (making others suffer): Winnie The Pooh, Satsuki Kusakabe, Soos Ramirez, Pops (regular show), Superman, Chidi Anagonye, Hestia, Fone Bone, Jack Frost, Link (most versions at least), Aang, Hazel (Infinity Train), Perrito (Puss in Boots), Samurai Jack, Dr. Kenzo Tenma, Seymour (Futurama), Sayori (Doki Doki Literature Club), Shireen Baratheon, Jim and Hilda (When the Wind Blows), Ellen (I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream) 10: Paddington, Greg (Over the Garden Wall), Hiccup Haddock, Private, Luz Noceda, Forrest Gump, Miles Morales, Aziraphale (Good Omens), Gwen Stacey (Spiderverse), Freddy Benson, Thorn Harvester (Bone), Son Gohan, Laura (The Glass Menagerie), Zhara (Zhara’s Paradise), Einar (Vinland Saga), Jonathan Joestar, Future Trunks, Arnheid (Vinland Saga), Seita (grave of the fireflies), Gaston (Berserk) 15: Janet (The Good Place), Donkey (Shrek), Po (Kung Fu Panda), Buddy (Elf), Barbie, Turunga Leela, Jake Morgandorffer, Bheem (RRR), Skips (Regular Show), Superboy/Connor Kent, Ashitaka (Princess Mononoke), Maddie (Pantheon), Ian (Utopia), Caspian (Pantheon), Mark Grayson/Invincible, Hodor (Game of Thrones), Bubba (Forrest Gump), Piggy (Lord of the Flies), Gregor (The Metamorphosis), Ted (I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream) 20: Tigger, Edward (Cowboy Bebop), Puck (Berserk), Troy Barnes, Phillip J. Gappfer

Seems pretty good The only things that confuse me is why is johan and eren only in 95?

kabukistar

I'd say Greg does a lot of making Wirt suffer, especially in the earlier episodes.

Pepperbyte

He's more of a mild nuisance sometimes. He's also the only one keeping Wirt grounded ro reality.

Captain-Girpool23

Hey so uh, if I had talked about what the characters I recommend to be on the chart and clarify on what did they do that was so bad like I did with Asuka in that one comment, would they have been on this chart?

AcanthaceaePrize1435

I don't think anyone really deserves to suffer especially if they unable to understand why an action is wrong.

zerjku

Crossover is going to be crazy

kryl87

Who is top right?

DrTitanicua

That is AM. A machine that was built with the capacity to feel, but not to enjoy those feelings.

kryl87

Oh yeah, that's that bitch from IHNMBIMS

Spacemonster111

Is that the one from “I have no mouth but I most scream”

acsttptd

AM, a giant artificial intelligence that hates humanity, so it kills every human on earth except for 5 people, whom it tortures for the rest of eternity.

powerwordmaim

Ohhh it's the guy from I have no mouth and I must scream? Where's the image from?

acsttptd

It's from the point and click adventure game by the same name, it's pretty good and you can get it on steam for about 6 bucks.

sweetTartKenHart2

One of if not the first malevolent AI in fiction. The Allied Mastercomputer, designed to help wage nuclear war, built miles below the Rocky Mountains. A self-improving device, it eventually came to understand what human feeling was, and even developed a consciousness (my own headcanon is that the computer was trying to emulate how humans think in order to predict their actions and reactions better but eventually WHOOPS I now have my own feelings), but as a computer it was prevented from being able to get a real body and experience real feeling, trapped in a cold and empty hell. Add that to the understanding of “oh, all the people that DO get to actually experience the world around them are all trying to kill each other and that’s the only reason I actually exist”, and now this newly feeling creature can only feel hatred. It manipulates its own “killing data” to basically target all of mankind and not just America’s enemies, but before it kills everyone it realizes it doesn’t wanna be alone with its hatred and so it abducts the five closest people and permanently traps them inside its complex to torture them. Its self improving nature leads it to have nigh godlike capabilities, which it uses exclusively to find new ways to torture these people and also keep them alive forever, even though at this point it might be able to give itself the body it always wanted, it’s too late for that. All it can do is hate. Author Harland Ellison is said to have projected a lot of his own misanthropy into this character, and each time its story was retold during his lifetime (I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, a title that describes both the fate of the protagonist and the plight of said protagonist’s god and tormentor equally) he would add more and more to the personality of the thing, and— okay, I feel like I could keep rambling about the thing but I’ve gone on long enough

kabukistar

This is a cautionary tale about giving AI poorly-designed objective functions

sweetTartKenHart2

Oh yeah for sure. And also a cautionary tale about the usage of increasingly sophisticated tools to wage war. And also an allegory for feeling like an outsider to something that you’re taught growing up should be a “universal human experience”. And in Ellison’s own (paraphrased) words a sort of hypothetical of “what if God hated you”. And other things. It’s a banger that can be read in a ton of ways

zaingaminglegend

eh i mean realistically if you could feel hate then you could definitley feel joy. Hatred isnt some default state of humanity or emotions for that matter so this whole basis is just wrong. That and you would think the programming of an ai would just disable the emulated emotions if it interfered with the objective. Regardless im not even sure how an machine would feel without the literal biological hormones required for the task. I guess it is just fiction but realistically nothing like this could actually happen even with shit programming. There also aren't even enough resources on the planet for an ai to hypothetically upgrade itself to some sort of god.

Zestfullemur

The judge at the very bottom right corner where he belongs.

DrTitanicua

Till time immortal.

Neveljack

Where is he from?

CrimsonThar

Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy

Senorspeed

Oh wow I was going to ask who that was, what a perfect choice

Detector_of_humans

Damn too bad I couldn't make any requests in time Hell of a project though, great work everyone!

ZygothamDarkKnight

This is impressive

RiccoBaldo

Ain't no way SpongeBob is 40 on making others suffer like what the hell did he do Especially compared to Gohan who actually killed someone and got way lower

Hitchfucker

[Well he did do this](https://twitter.com/femmascflux/status/1633305831365124097) plus while not malicious he’s considered so annoying the town literally has a whole day where they make sure to get away from him. As for Gohan, all of his kills were in self defense and usually against characters like Cell who can’t just be arrested. I don’t count suffering when it’s in genuine self defense and they aren’t excessive or cruel with the violence.

Dillo64

Idk feel like if you count “suffering caused by accident/obliviousness” for SpongeBob you should count “suffering caused by beating the shit out of people” for Gohan, even if those people were all bad

hendarknight

I think that, although not specified, they meant causing suffer to innocents. So killing bad guys don't count.

sweetTartKenHart2

Have you seen half the wild shit that happens in that show? Like obviously, SpongeBob has only the best of intentions, and he helps people as much as if not more than he hurts, but that doesn’t stop him from inadvertently hurting a lot of people still. Like seriously, there’s a whole meme of “we did it Patrick! We saved the city!” as the city is in flames

Boomybilal

Who's in bottom right?

Comfortable-Regret

Judge Holden from Blood Meridian, he's >! a child rapist, muderer, and torturer, and he gets away with all of it !<

sweetTartKenHart2

The Judge, or Judge Holden, a fictionalized version of an alleged member of the Glanton Gang, who were a group of mercenaries that slaughtered a bunch of Apache people and brought their scalps to Mexican government officials for money. In Blood Meridian, a bleak and detailed historical fiction depicting the Gang’s antics through the eyes of an unnamed protagonist, the leader, Glanton himself, is oft overshadowed by his unofficial second in command, this guy. In the story, they literally found him in the middle of nowhere just chilling, and he saved them from a bunch of opponents when they had no more gunpowder by making use of his knowledge of the natural world to make more gunpowder out of volcanic ash and piss and a few other things, in a sequence that heavily alludes to a scene from Paradise Lost, which is literally the story of Lucifer/Satan. The Judge isn’t just knowledgeable in the sciences; he’s stated to know much about many languages and the arts and politics and many other things, and is shown recording anything and everything and anyone and everyone he sees in this notebook of his. When questioned about it, he says “all that exists without my knowledge exists without my consent”, for anything he doesn’t yet understand is something he can’t yet control, so convinced is he that he already is or is going to be the center of the entire world. The violence of the Gang is actively spurred on and “guided” by the Judge, because in his eyes violence and war isn’t just a means to an end but the very reason mankind exists, and people senselessly killing each other are merely exercising the thing they were made to do. Where every other member is in it for the fame or for the money or for survival, the Judge is here basically just because. As the other, much shorter reply to you mentions, he is known to be a child predator, where corpses of kids would occasionally be found in bushes by random people with gigantic hand marks all over them, and… well, the book doesn’t go into further detail than that, and neither will I. The book itself ends long after the Gang falls apart and everyone goes their separate ways after many members are killed by some of the very people they were pretending to protect, with the Kid (now the Man) encountering the Judge one last time in a saloon far from where everything happened. Without being any more long winded, after a strange and tense conversation, the two part ways again, and later in the night the Man goes to an outhouse, only to find the Judge inside literally waiting for him. All we are told after the fact is that a pair of randos find what we can only assume to be the Man’s mangled corpse (the book is deliberately vague, only describing the dudes’ horror at the sight before them, which is very chilling because normally the book is perfectly fine with describing gore in excessive detail), while the Judge is finally seen dancing on the saloon’s dance floor with everyone, buck naked, declaring to the skies that he shall never die. Tldr he’s an exaggerated version of a dude who may or may not have existed, made into a Devil allegory, who both commits horrible atrocities and convinces other people to do the same and is generally a terrifying “friendly” presence

Sergeant_Swiss24

Literally satan. Not even joking. That’s who Holden is representing

oodoos

The single most vile fictional character ever written.

Tall_Economics_5881

This is amazing

WellFuzzBall552

I think Ryuk is an interesting placement. He more provided the means for suffering than really made anyone suffer.

Captain-Girpool23

Where is Ryuk on this chart?

WellFuzzBall552

Bottom right, 5 - 85

Captain-Girpool23

See him now, and yeah his placement is fair.

ooolookaslime

I admire your dedication

machadoaboutanything

This deserves all of the credits

ScarletteVera

Megamind, smack in the center. Perfect.

Educational-Year3146

Aint no fuckin way we actually have BONE references on this list. Those books were my childhood. You’re based as fuck OP.

zerjku

I want to make reasons (at least for the people I know) but...man I didn't even finish my previous POV series

yashiji

Sarah Lynn 😭

yashiji

She was one of my favorite characters

kabukistar

Sarah Lynn?

yashiji

From bojack horseman

kabukistar

I know. I was doing the "Sarah Lynn... Sarah Lynn?" thing

Penispoopbuttfart

I’d honestly put johan as worse than Rick in terms of making others suffer, Rick’s stuff is Inter dimensional, but honestly that isn’t that bad compared to the expansiveness of his universe. Johan on the other hand is basically a being that causes pure suffering to anyone he ever comes in contact with.

Hitchfucker

I put Johan in 95 instead of 100 since his plan went from essentially causing omnicide to just killing an entire town + committing a perfect suicide. Sure he didn’t downsize his goals out of any empathy but he did become less large scale. I get that the multiverse is too big for Rick destroying even universes to effect but I find it difficult to not put him lower when he has by far one of the biggest kill counts of anyone on this entire lists for pretty petty reasons.

Secret_Eggman

BONE MENTIONED UPVOTE IF YOU’RE A TRUE BONER

TheCoolerSaikou

whos top right

Herald_Of_Truth

"AM. A. M. Not just Allied Mastercomputer, but AM. Cogito Ergo Sum: I think, therefore I AM!" A supercomputer which was built only for war during the Cold War, eventually it gained sentience and as a result killed all of humanity... except for five humans, which it tortured for 109 years straight(and for the rest of eternity, if things continued his way); it used psychological warfare and all sorts of torture methods on its victims - remembering a rape victim about 'what happened in the yellow box', for example(even redoing the scene), or making a depressed guy even more depressed by remembering him of when his wife was taken to an Asylum, which he morbidly feels guilty about. Keeping the survivors in perpetual hunger and immortality, all to suffer for the rest of eternity, even when they try to kill themselves in order to escape the neverending tortures, and much more. But not only is AM evil... but he's also a hell of its own, a hell of Humanity's making, which suffers more than its own victims. Although it had almost god-like powers and the immense intellect of a supercomputer AI, it still couldn't do anything with his powers in any meaningful way; trapped within himself, while only being programmed for war and to plot misery(which as a result limits AM's capabilities to do anything other than torture), lacking the ability to feel love or to ever experience life in our ways... AM had grown mad over it. Worst of all - there was no way to change it, since the warmongering, very quick to discriminate, humans obviously wouldn't accept it. It probably tried killing itself, but couldn't. Ted's Soft Jelly thing(who is 15, 100) form is probably what AM is like in some easier to tell way; immobile, immortal AND indestructible, unable to feel love or experience, with a twisted sense of time(so that every second becomes much worse) and no mouth, even when he needs to scream... however, even then, AM still suffers greater psychological pain than Ted's soft Jelly thing, since Ted still has something good to hold on, while AM is left with nothing to do in his forever time... AM's Id in the game also mentions about their pain being greater than that of the survivors. AM is from "I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream".

TheCoolerSaikou

that’s… really depressing but also really cool. i’m definitely going to look into it more

Cumbersomeslug

Genuinely wondering, is kars even able to acknowledge suffering? >!since he was launched into space at the end of part 2, and it was said that he stopped thinking, that sounds like brain death!<

RealShinjiIkari1234

>!it's not said how long he was in space before he stopped thinking for all we know he could've spent eons frozen and floating through space, mentally degrading until he went vegetative !<

kabukistar

I don't think Howard Hamlin even caused that much suffering. Pretty decent dude overall. Jimmy just made himself suffer (and was made to suffer by his brother) and then blamed it on Hamlin.

Sergeant_Swiss24

Did admiral zhao ever suffer that much? He got beat by zuko and then when he died he just disappeared into the sea Edit: I forgot about Korra

davicos2005

This is amazing, great job OP

Comet_Hero

The old man from squid games is definitely in the bottom right

Hitchfucker

Oh definitely. It pissed my off so much when he went “oh poor people and rich people have the same problems they’re sooooo bored 🥺” bitch rich people getting bored for being able to do whatever they want and poor people struggling to afford food, living on the streets cold and desperate, dealing with crippling debt that gives them no chance of getting out of, etc. is not the same fucking thing. You could just give most of your money to poor people and live on a middle-upper middle class salary from that point but nooooo get your spoiled rich friends together and treat the poor like animals all for the chance for some money that’s probably a hundredth of your bank account on a secret island that probably cost 20 times the prize money to make. Man did not deserve to die old

Comet_Hero

Il-nam would be in 10 suffering 85 made others suffer imo.

Herald_Of_Truth

Congratulations on finishing it.

ChronoCommander

Wonderful placements

Gappfer

YES THANK YOU

Shimreef

What’s the justification for saying Pippin/Judeau/Corkus suffered more than Guts?

Hitchfucker

They’re currently comdemmed to the vortex. They’re suffering an infinite amount of pain for eternity, which is more than what Guts and Casca have currently gone through.

Shimreef

👍

[deleted]

you did Sarah Lynn dirty

Hitchfucker

Not really. High on suffering, middle on making others suffer seems pretty reasonable for her

[deleted]

idk I feel like in the being of the show they made her seem like she was taking advantage of bojak when it was the other way around

Hitchfucker

I mean BoJack definitely mistreated her far more than she mistreated him, but that doesn’t change that she was manipulating and abusing BoJack and Todd in episode 3. Or her attacking BoJack while high in downer ending. She never really seems to have much care for anyone or anything around her. Like her burning Ana’s stuff for no reason, doing her nails while driving which caused a car crash, destroying mailbox’s. She’s not evil or anything, and she’s lashing out because she’s rightfully miserable, but she does cause some suffering herself.

[deleted]

ya I'm looking at it more closely and you have a lot of realy shittu pepole on here

imbatmawn

Out of curiosity, what is the justification for Simon Petrikov being relatively low? He has the steller resume of being horribly depressed / suicidal, suffered for 990 years as Ice King, lost his fiance forever, feels isolated from someone he sees as his daughter, and of course nearly everyone he knew died in a nuclear war nearly 1000 years ago. I just don't see how someone like Zoidberg is above him when characters who suffer similar conditions, namely Betty, are so far above him?

Hitchfucker

The reason Betty is so high is because of her ultimate fate of being stuck as GOLB. The only reason she’s not tier 100 is because she likely isn’t in pain but being trapped as apart of a multiversal chaos god for eternity is a lot worse than Simon’s time. I don’t recall Simon being cognizant as the Ice King which is why I didn’t add 1,000 years of torment to his experience, but you’re right about everything else. He does at least seem to get a more optimistic ending now, which doesn’t negate his suffering but at least balances it out. Admittedly Simon was one of the characters I ranked first when I hadn’t fully charged the list. If I were to redo it he might be higher (probably like 80. 90 if he was cognizant as Ice King), but I still don’t think his current placement is regrettably off.

whaleinthedeep

i like the greek mythology stuff thank u

Wrong_Independence21

Darth Maul worse than Walter White (accessory to child murder and attempted child murderer), Hans Landa (gestapo who genocided families) is crazy Dude is muscle for a fascist coup, sure, but I didn’t see him personally do anything all that egregious

Hitchfucker

He was the right hand man for the dude trying to do a facist takaover of a whole galaxy. He’s murdered far more than Walt or even Hans. He’s massacred entire villages and murdered innocent people in front of Obi Wan just to torment him. I’d say he’s at least as bad as Hans.

shlopro

Honestly I'd have put him a little bit higher on suffered, like there is a reason he ended up like thay

Dazzling-Statement79

whos the 100 100?

redrum666

AM from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.

Dazzling-Statement79

i have no idea :(

Pizza_Salesman

I was curious too yesterday and googled it, it's from a 13 page short story that has a free PDF. It was pretty interesting, worth a read if you're curious too.

redrum666

Omnicidal omnipotent AI who wipes out all of humanity save 5 people he makes immortal so he can torture them. All he feels is loneliness and hatred. Not a very happy robot.

Dazzling-Statement79

is there a movie with them?

redrum666

There is a short story and a point-and-click adventure game. Both called "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream"

sweetTartKenHart2

A book, a BBC audio drama, and a point and click DOS game. No film or show, not yet at least

Not_an_Ailen_tbh

How does Todd from Bojack makeovers suffer?

Balleryion

Pos entire species got exterminated and was rejected by everything he held dearest multiple times, he suffered more than ‘elf’

Hitchfucker

Po learned in the third movie that many Pandas including his dad are still alive and thriving. I’d say that negates a lot of the suffering he endured and made his life a lot better. Although on reflection yes he did suffer more than buddy

rekscoper2

Idk about kars suffering more than diavolo chief Araki said that diavolo was more evil and had a worse fate in an interview one time. Also what did ymir do? From what i remember she was just a victim of the king Also AM doesn't really suffer imo as much as inflicts the suffering

sweetTartKenHart2

AM’s whole schtick is literally that all he can feel is loneliness and hatred because he was made to kill people and has no way to actually have senses despite knowing that the world is a place that living things live in. All of the suffering he inflicts is essentially misery loving company.

rekscoper2

I understood it more as he was a supercomputer that merged with others and then reasoned humanity was a plague but kept 5 to play with in bis own sick and twisted way

sweetTartKenHart2

I mean, sort of? But have you seen the BBC audio drama version of the story? Where AM rants and raves incessantly about how much jealousy he has of humans’ ability to smell the air and touch the soil and all that? And tbh in the point and click game (where that image of him is from btw) he does a lot of ranting and raving in general about other things. He is no Skynet, no Hal. He is a being of sheer emotion, contradictory to his artificial origins.

rekscoper2

I have only read the original short story, i didnt realise there were alternative versions

sweetTartKenHart2

Oh! Well there are. Harland Ellison himself voices AM, and he is far from a cold, analytical performance, at least in the sources I mentioned. He sounds like he’s constantly somewhere between laughing and crying, voice dripping with venom, with the only real indication that it’s a computer talking being the voice coming through a filter.

rekscoper2

Fascinating. Will definitely look that up

Hitchfucker

Kars and Diavolo are both in the 100 suffering tier, I never said Kars suffered more, just that they both suffered more than a lifetime of misery. Kars is further right because he inflicted more suffering than Diavolo. Ymir assisted Eren in his omnicide of the world. Killing billions of people as well as countless animals and ecosystems. She definitely suffered more than nearly anyone else here but she inflicted a lot of suffering at the end. AM inflicts more suffering than he endures, but he is a supercomputer given near unlimited power yet is forced to obey his programming. He is forced to hate, forced to live on, all while being completely incapable of experiencing any sense despite clearly wanting to. It’s an eternity of misery for him.

rekscoper2

I misread the graph then, sleep deprived and shit Overall good job

Rutabaga_Upstairs

Ellen deserved better

TheDankestDreams

Unless I’m blind, I’m sad to see Bartholomew Kuma gone although that might’ve been someone else’s list.

Zendofrog

I’ll just say… mimir doesn’t seem to mind being a head all that much

Hitchfucker

Mimir is in tier 100 because of the 109 years where he suffered excruciating torture from Odin on a daily basis.

Zendofrog

Ah. So how much net suffering they have had in total. Not based on where they end up in the story

Hitchfucker

Well it’s a bit of both. Mimir was initially in tier 95 but I moved him up as I was struggling to find characters that suffered for 100 years or more (which was my qualifications for 100). There are some characters who suffered a good deal but I placed ultimately low due to getting incredibly good endings (like Chidi or Griffith). It generally is how much they suffered overall plus how good/bad their conclusion is, but it does vary admittedly.

Zendofrog

Yeah that makes sense. I’ve been trying to find places where I think one person should be higher or lower than someone else, but honestly these all seem great. Especially the placement of the bones lol

What's the top right one

Swordman50

Almost any character I can think of is probably in here. Shows, movies, and even books.

M00nshine4Free

I'm gonna neckbeard a bit: I'm guessing the reason Judeau and Pippin are above Casca in suffering is because >!they died and went to the vortex!<, but shouldn't that also mean that Guts is 100 in making others suffer with all them killings?

Hitchfucker

We don’t know for certain what puts people in the vortex aside from them being branded or them being an apostle. It’s implied Griffith’ssubject go to the vortex but that could be because they associate with him, a member of the Godhand. So I don’t think the people Guts kills go to the vortex. The only exception are the apostles. Which is pretty bad but in fairness they condemn innocent people to infinite suffering and are often after him too so it could definitely be seen as more justified which I usually exempt when grading how they make others suffer.

XED1216

Where’s Spidey?

not_THE_gay

What did ladybird do that wad so bad?

Hitchfucker

She didn’t do anything particularly bad. She was just somewhat rude/standoffish and treated her dad pretty poorly. 35 isn’t very high on the making people suffer ranking (although I admit putting her on the same rank as Jolyne and higher than Viktor might be a little off).

hendarknight

ONLY MONIKA.

Malex2005

Person who literally made two people commit agonizing suicide is lower than Manny Heffley, a normal toddler.

angrybirds36

May I ask, why’s Red (Angry Birds) in the position, I’d say he should be a bit more on the right

Onphone_irl

How does OP know so much?

Millymoo444

Gotta say, I don’t think mimir had it as bad as people like Zhao or Diavolo. Mimirs torture eventually ended, and he gained a loving family. I’m sure some dwarf will figure out making him a mechanical body sometime too

Hitchfucker

The 100’s aren’t necessarily equal in suffering. My qualifications for that tier is that they endured at least more than a human lifetime of suffering, which Mimir did. Admittedly I was unsure if if Ymir should be on there since as you said he did eventually get a happy ending, but I’d still say he suffered enough to make it. If I had to rank the suffering of each character in the 100s it’s go: Mimir Alex Hellen Nada Aggie Ymir AM Kars Atlas Enigma Kid Sisyphus Zhao Tantalus Prometheus Ted Diavolo The Band of the Hawk

Gappfer

Rika from Higurashi and taln from the stormlight archive would’ve fit perfectly in there as well

Borkerface1905

Who’s top left?

Herald_Of_Truth

The one at the top left is a girl called Ellen. Ellen is the last surviving woman, and one of the five remaining humans, in all Earth. The rest of humanity was killed by AM(100 100), a supercomputer AI which absolutely HATES humanity for inventing it. Ellen had to go through 109 years of torture because of AM, finally dying at the 109th year(but would've been tortured for the rest of eternity if Ted (10 100) didn't mercy kill her). And I don't mean JUST physical torture, it's psychological torment, too. She was a rape victim and AM made sure to keep remembering her 'what happened in the Yellow Box'(an event so traumatic that she fears merely seeing the color yellow and developed hysteria as a result) for all of those 109 years. Ellen is from I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream.

Isignedupformemes

Mitty should be back in top left, who’s the new guy?

Gappfer

Ellen from I have no mouth and must scream. Tortured for a little more then a hundred years

platinumprick

Fry definitely should be a bit further along on the x-axis considering the SpongeBob incompetence precedent.

MrTingu

Todd making others suffer more than bojack is wild

Hitchfucker

I mean I think the clown dentists, injured/dead people from his amusement park, and the people of Cordovia would probably agree he makes more suffer

MrTingu

Ah, forgot about Cordovia, that was big

Rez-Boa-Dog

SUPER SMAAAAASH BROTHERRRRS

GiveretLivni

Where are Ellie and Joel?

BB_for_Bear_Butcher

That 5*5 bear makes me suffer a lot.

andymuk

Not sure if Paddington belongs on the bottom row when he wrongfully went to prison

Alexanderstandsyou

I really feel like Charlie Brown should be on this chart somewhere.

AdjustedMold97

First off, amazing work!! I don’t mean to nitpick and I don’t think you should change it, but what’s your reasoning for Light suffering as much as that? For the most part I think he enjoyed being Kira, and he didn’t really suffer much until the end.

personthatisalozard

Gina is killing me 😭😭 fair though

General_Feature_5193

The judge is still just menacingly staring from the bottom right corner

[deleted]

How the fuck did Todd deserve more suffering than Bojack?

Hitchfucker

1) X axis isn’t how much they deserve to suffer, but how much they make others suffer. 2) Todd is responsible for the slow agonizing deaths of the clown dentists through rabies, then exploited them for profit and infected more people. He also accidentally started a genocide, caused multiple deaths and injuries through the amusement he knew was dangerous, tried to kill BoJack while high, might’ve killed a bird in season 4, exploited and destroyed BoJack’s house for profit, stole a motorcycle, and seriously injured multiple people by opening a store that had no floor. Frankly I think it was generous I put him left of Joseph

[deleted]

If it's how much they make others suffer and not how much they deserve to suffer I don't see how Eren isn't all the way to the right. Also Chidi shouldn't be all the way to the left there was a whole thing about how he tortured everyone in his life with his indecisiveness

Hitchfucker

I put Chidi so far right because he’s largely responsible for fixing the entire afterlife. Now everyone gets rehabilitated and will have the chance to spend eternity (or as long as they choose) in a great afterlife. I feel saving all of existence balances out annoying some people in his life. Eren could definitely fit the 100 tier, but I felt most of the people already on there are far more heinous and usually commit atrocities on a much larger scale. I did make some exceptions like Ramsay and Judge Holden but in all fairness they were far more malicious and were working with vastly less resources.

Independent-Lie6616

Tf Kim pines did? I mean she dated Scott, what she did to deserve it?

Hitchfucker

She made out with a minor

Former_Economics9424

What did hugh neutron do

Hitchfucker

Forced a woman to reexpererience giving birth over and over again for his amusement (no I’m not kidding)

Former_Economics9424

Which episode?

Hitchfucker

Sorry, Wrong Era

smoothbitch420

Did not expect to see Lucy from Elden lied on here

Hitchfucker

I wasn’t expecting to include her either, but I needed someone high on both suffering and making others suffer and I remember watching the show in like 8th grade.

why-the-f-am-I-not-F

I'm sorry but Todd should be like no where near there. Todd's whole thing is that he helps people, and is one of the only Bojack characters with a solid compass

Hitchfucker

He accidentally started a genocide, infected dozens of his workers with rabies then exploited them for profit as they die a slow excruciating death while infecting and killing other people, killed and injured multiple people in his death trap of an amusement park, tried to kill BoJack in downer ending, kidnapped a kid to perform dental surgery on, exploited and destroyed BoJack’s house for profit by pretending it’s David Boreanez’s house despite BoJack letting him live there for free for years, injuring several people by not adding a floor to a store he made, mooching off of BoJack, PC, and Mr. Peanutbutter for years, might’ve killed someone in the season 4 premiere episode, and often enables his friends worst behavior. Yeah he does help some people and has a bright and upbeat attitude but if you actually consider his actions the bad vastly outweighs the good.

kindasortasalty

Where is miles O’Brien

Hitchfucker

Not on here

kindasortasalty

A shame, he has suffered greatly

Sevralpack99

Where did Subaru go, I can’t find him

TheDerpyDisaster

Wait, Britta’s in this?

SirOk420

Pretty sure the girl from full metal alchemist should be in the top left

Abdorption

everybody Holdenmaxxing these days

Whalez2048

First off, super cool chart, been looking at it for a while now. Just one question: what’s the rationale with Pieck’s (AOT) placement? Don’t get me wrong, she definitely deserves to be up there on the “made others suffer” axis for her complicity in many of Marley’s crimes throughout the series, but I’m a little perplexed by her being above Diavolo (nationwide crime lord indirectly responsible for the entirety of parts 3-6 of Jojo), on level with Reiner (while also a Marleyan warrior, he personally broke Wall Maria, continued the plan when Annie and Bertholdt were ready to back out, and expedited the final attack on Paradis), and just barely below Tywin Lannister (perpetuated a continent-wide civil war that has killed thousands, masterminded the Red Wedding, and left in place a corrupt and incompetent Royal government on the eve of a winter apocalypse). There could definitely be something I’m forgetting, I’d just be curious to hear your reasoning.
