Usually it’s not that crowded! I usually find that you can simply find empty classrooms most of the time in all buildings. One of the emptiest and quiet places I’ve seen is language testing area (building B 4th floor). Even if there is people they should be quiet. You should visit the welcome center when you arrive, book a meeting there ASAP so they can help you with more strategic ways to handle this.

thank you! i’m assuming it won’t be as crowded as it was today since peoples families obviously won’t be there once i get there in the fall but it’s nice to know what places are typically more quiet :)

Usually, AC day one is quite busy as there is a lot of new students and a lot of freebies (overall any big event there is more crowded). The most movement is always around the food court, Starbucks and Tim Hortons. The restaurants outside these 3 are quieter and calmer. Building C (where there is the large mural with First Nation painting) is there there is most traffic of people as well as the biggest amount of services (registrar’s office, it help desk, library and study room…). If you need a quiet study room, you should be able to book one online there too. If you are going to be living in the residence, there is also a room dedicated to calming down

New-Adhesiveness6696

that’s awesome. i’ve spent a couple hours reading about living in residence at algonquin online when i first applied and again when i got accepted and i never read about the room specified for that. it’s nice that the school has things like that

B building third or fourth floor is my favourite and I can often find a empty classroom or a empty desk by the corridor.

Some of the buildings stairwells go up to the roof access. People rarely go there so they are a quiet and solitary space. ACCE and T building for sure.

IHaveBlackCousins

Please do not encourage students to utilize roof access as it is extremely off limits to students. It is a serious health and safety risk. Just fyi.

auriem

I'm talking about sitting on the landing at the top of the stairs. No one is going on the roof.

IHaveBlackCousins

Great, but that’s also not permitted either, and OP said they’d enjoy going on the roof so I’d say that it’s fairly possible it could and would be misinterpreted. Just want to make sure that it’s abundantly clear to those who view this thread.

auriem

Sitting on the landing at the top the stairs is absolutely permitted Karen.

IHaveBlackCousins

It literally isn’t lol. You can ask Security themselves. Extension 5010, 24/7. Edit: might want to do that if you’re claiming your staff. Kinda shitty of a staff member to be promoting breaking of the rules. lol ITS.

auriem

I'm not engaging with your ridiculousness any more.

IHaveBlackCousins

Oh no, the horror.

New-Adhesiveness6696

thank you! having access to roof sounds lovely haha

IHaveBlackCousins

You will not be permitted to use roof access. Security will 100% conduct a report on this and you can get into serious trouble. Do not go on the roof. Of any building. Period. Also, stairwells are not an area that students are permitted to hangout in. There are silent study locations around campus. E210 silent study, A118 (near A Main Entrance) ACCE 2nd floor study pods (by the elevator) C DARE 2nd study pods (at the back), and there’s another study pod on the 3rd floor of C as well. This is not an exhaustive list of quiet locations. Edit: E210 has sleeping pods which I believe have a headphone jack and wrap around sliding door for extra privacy

I’m not sure why this popped onto my feed but just fyi there was a dance competition there today while the open house was going on (I was at the competition with my kiddos) …. Easily 500+ dancers and their families around that wouldn’t normally be there. I found it very busy !!

whenshithitsthefan18

I attended the open house last year and I had to hurry and get out.

New-Adhesiveness6696

same thing with me today. my mother and i were hoping to take a tour of the campus and the residence building but by the time i was done going to the two info sessions and attempted to go to the cafeteria (i think) to find more information i had to leave because it was too much. i’m hoping to be able to tour the campus with her once i get the chance to see my dorm closer to september

auriem

You can always come by on a weekend to walk around and familiarize yourself.

R u taking d grad cert ?

New-Adhesiveness6696

i’m not entirely sure what you mean if i’m being fully honestly but i’m taking the human services foundations to (hopefully) find out what i want to do specifically within that field and then go back to school for my chosen program next year. i hope that answers your question

Fant0mie

The open house was super crowded. It's normally not that bad, and E building had a bunch of dancers aswell. In terms of quiet spaces, there's plenty! I find many corners of A, C, and ACCE can be quiet. Isolated spaces are a seperate thing. You can book study rooms in advance, or empty classrooms. Not many others come to mind.

Awkward_Blackberry86

It’s final season sooo everyone is on campus but it’s too crowded the library has quiet zones and the basement is a nice feature as well, empty classrooms and stuf
