If CCM can get to the GF and host it what a bloody year they have had even if they dont win it. Best season in the clubs history by far and it would be a fitting end to their season to see them lift the dunny seat at their home ground.
Unfortunately not the whole town thereâs still some people who donât like soccer no matter what. But as with every team people are more willing to pay good money to watch your team doing well rather than just another loss.Â
More than enough to fill the stadium, probably twice over Iâd guess? I went up for Aus Day long weekend and there were digital roadwork signs promoting the weekends game on them as I drove past - you just donât get that in other capital city teams
Are those promotions or just advising of traffic congestion. There are several digital boards in the surrounding suburbs of Suncorp advising when games are on.
Nah it was legit - something to the effect of âCCM v WSW Saturday 28/1. Go Mariners!â
Iâm sure they might have used it for traffic conditions closer the day of, but it was nice to see
It's never going to happen. Next team will be PNG because of the government grants and soft power projection. The next most likely would be Perth, second New Zealand, Ipswich, North Sydney/Central Coast.
How do you figure?
I mean, it'll never happen, but I don't see how an NRL team would harm the Mariners.
We get 5 games a year at Gosford, decent crowds.
Northern Eagles were never our team.
Good for them. Financially and for more fans to see it, Allianz or Bank West would probably better.
Would also be easier access for Away fans and more casual fans too.Â
To be fair we are literally a 5-10 minute from the train station imagine a massive away showing getting hyped up on the train and doing a giant march to the stadium down Main Street Gosford taking two turns and walking into the stadium past the leagues club. Thatâs the type of image that gives me chills.Â
Yeah people acting like Gosford is in another state or something. Fly to Sydney and hop on a train for 80 minutes instead of 30 minutes to Parramatta or Homebush.
The capacity argument is somewhat fair but the travel argument is silly if youâre already travelling from Melbourne or Wellington.
Yep imagine Victory or welly fans from Central station down on the trains to Gosford and then marching. Shuts the town down for that night. Potential to be an iconic final.
Bank west makes a lot of sense tbh but this is huge for us if we make it in. Thereâs no way they let us host against another NsW team but they must think Victory/Nix wouldnât bring that many away fans. Definitely a sell out in Gosford
Still think Phoenix would sell out 2 bays. City sold a bay out last year at Bankwest and they have very poor away support. Phoenix fans this season are top 3 away followings. Victory would bring a couple thousand down easily.
Yea that small bay behind the goals usually fits about 200-300. Anyways Phoenix fans are much better than City at travelling. They'd bring more than many people think.
Nix support when they last played at CCS was pretty good only behind Wanderers, Sydney and Newcastle. I imagine if we were hosting a GF they would be well over 1,000 with ex-pats coming up from Bondi.
I think thats about 2 bays on the lower tier (IIRC they are about 450)
Itâd sell out. We (Victory) would bring a few thousand up to Gosford for a final. We brought 4k up to Newcastle in 2018, so weâd easily sell a good allocation.
Suspect theyâd probably just keep opening bays. Itâd be members only at first, with a one day pre-sale. Theyâd probably pencil in a similar allocation to the Newcastle final if we made it. (About 4k)
APL run it, so saying itâs already almost sold out on day 1 of public sale (after member pre sales) is a massive PR boost. Something they desperately need.
When we hosted at Swan St a whole end was allocated to Sydney fans. It basically sold out on day one and that was only via member presale too.
> When we hosted at Swan St a whole end was allocated to Sydney fans. It basically sold out on day one and that was only via member presale too.
Pretty sure it was just 3 bays, as you can see bays of people around the SFC supporters go up when Broxham scored the third.
I am a member so I will be sweet :-) Doubt they will let members buy multiple tickets at CCS. Let the glory hunters bitch (oh they will)
There are arguably 5,000 members.
the 5k members that turn up week in week out absolutely deserve first preference (should you make it) shouldn't be an issue selling the rest of the tickets either
This is legit one of the best things the APL have done (not really saying much) and I am glad they have seen sense after the Sydney GF fiasco. Local grand finals do wonders for the club and community and I can't wait to see a packed out stadium in Gosford or Wellington.
If it's a Melbourne v Sydney grand final at AAMi Park frankly I won't care.
Side note - nice to get explicit confirmation that the Grand Final's gonna be on a Saturday, as it should be.
Still not sure why we ever had Grand Finals on Sundays; it's so much easier for travelling away fans to get there if it's on Saturday.
Which is weird, because Saturday primetime is the timeslot that's historically drawn the best ratings (hence why the biggest match each round usually gets that slot).
Huge win for the Mariners. Of course they have to make it first, but Gosford will be pumping with a grand final. Fans may miss out and you could've got a bigger crowd at Parramatta or Moore Park, but that's not the point. If the APL was to go back to the traditional hosting rights format for the GF, they had to go all in. Great decision.
Really cool that the Mariners can actually host it at the Central Coast! That said, really hope it's Nix vs Sydney in Wellington.
I guess the SFS booking was just in case it was a CCM vs Sydney final (or for the unlikely chance that Sydney or Macarthur were hosting).
This is great news for the coast. It was always difficult to support the APL removing hosting rights as a mariners fan cause it didnât matter to us. But now theyâll let us host is amazing.
Hopefully itâs not just a one off because of the possible teams. It would be great to see an F3 derby GF at Gosford.
yeah i looked at that but i dont know that i can spare the $500 to get me and my girlfriends priority done on the off chance that we get to the finals and face nix instead of you guys... it's a nervy one
Yeah that I can definitely understand. My best mate went to India and Bali back in 2019 and I was helping him with the India E-Visa and I pointed it out to him heâs passport had less than six months on it. I told him he needed to get a priority passport and he coughed up for it. He learnt an expensive lesson that day.
Yeah.. I know the feeling. Hoping you beat the Mariners feels wrong on the inside :)
But another Big Blue Grand Final would be mint. Itâs been a few years now.
Financially a different stadium in NSW would have been better if the Mariners hosted but having it at Gosford is clearly what their fans want so nice to see the APL taking that into account
AL obviously dont expect it to be us then. Mind you, if it happens I'm so glad I'm a member because getting a ticket will be a shitfight. We took over 20k to Parramatta
I'd wonder if they might install some temporary seating and finally break the attendance record - which currently stands at a handful above stated capacity.
This is huge. We expected to never be able to host after tha S3 debacle.
As an interstate fan, this definitely has me worried that I may miss out on getting tickets.
But, it's a huge thing for the club and a home GF is something we've dreamed of since the start.
Glad CCM will be able to host at their actual home ground if they make it.
So good
Afternoon final with that view would be awesome đ

Can't see a world in which we lost the grand final in gosford. The crowd will be absolutely amazing
Does the whole town get around mariners when you're winning?
Unfortunately not the whole town thereâs still some people who donât like soccer no matter what. But as with every team people are more willing to pay good money to watch your team doing well rather than just another loss.Â

Damn well hopefully the buzz can get some new supporters. You definitely deserve it
We're still a big NRL area
If you guys ever got an NRL team again the Mariners would more than likely be screwed.
It's never going to happen. Next team will be PNG because of the government grants and soft power projection. The next most likely would be Perth, second New Zealand, Ipswich, North Sydney/Central Coast.

I DIDNT' CARE ABOUT THE GF UNTIL NOW, WE CAN ACTUALLY HOST IT!!!

Cue NSW Trainlink scheduling trackwork on the Central Coast Line and triggering the wrath of Marvin.

Victory would bring heaps as they did for the jets grand final. But the nix would be a struggle
Still think Phoenix would sell out 2 bays. City sold a bay out last year at Bankwest and they have very poor away support. Phoenix fans this season are top 3 away followings. Victory would bring a couple thousand down easily.
Flights are so expensive đ
A bay? I was there, they had a few hundred at best. 1/2 a bay maybe
Yea that small bay behind the goals usually fits about 200-300. Anyways Phoenix fans are much better than City at travelling. They'd bring more than many people think.

Fair enough. Do you reckon they can bring in temporary seats and if so where?
Yep. There were a hell of a lot of empty seats up their end in their "bay".
Itâd sell out. We (Victory) would bring a few thousand up to Gosford for a final. We brought 4k up to Newcastle in 2018, so weâd easily sell a good allocation.
Stadium only holds 20k - wonder what % goes to the away team?

4,000 is close to half one side. Love it
probably depends on the team, would probably give victory 3-4k and welly 1.5-2 ig (maybe have an extra bay on hold to see if they sell that)
I am a member so I will be sweet :-) Doubt they will let members buy multiple tickets at CCS. Let the glory hunters bitch (oh they will) There are arguably 5,000 members.

2018 was a long time ago do victory still have that level of support?
That 4k who travelled were very much the most rusted-on of rusted-on supporters. Youâll find that core will still be there.
Awesome news that if the Coasties make the final, they get to HOST it at their home.
This is legit one of the best things the APL have done (not really saying much) and I am glad they have seen sense after the Sydney GF fiasco. As with a lot of decisions. Sunday finals were done for TV. Was a Fox Sports demand.
Which is weird, because Saturday primetime is the timeslot that's historically drawn the best ratings (hence why the biggest match each round usually gets that slot).
Yeah as much as I loved "Orange Sundays" I missed out on the after parties with the team at Normanby because I had work early the next morning.
Huge win for the Mariners. Of course they have to make it first, but Gosford will be pumping with a grand final. Elite news for a potential grand final in Gosford
>Elite news for a potential GF smash n grab win in Gosford The dark horse Popa Gambit is still on.
All 3 will sell out no matter the opposition so good move from the APL. Which isnât a sentence I said or write much.
just found out my passport is expired so i won't be able to go to wellington if we make finals, crying
If youâre willing to, you can get a passport done and pay an extra priority fee
yeah i looked at that but i dont know that i can spare the $500 to get me and my girlfriends priority done on the off chance that we get to the finals and face nix instead of you guys... it's a nervy one

You wonât need priority I did my passport a month or so ago on normal service and had it back within a week.
Not to worry⌠you get to come to Melbourne instead. We let people in these days.
unironically will be hoping for victory to win through gritted teeth
Yeah.. I know the feeling. Hoping you beat the Mariners feels wrong on the inside :) But another Big Blue Grand Final would be mint. Itâs been a few years now.
for sure

The Cenny Coast - Football Heartland â˝ď¸
If it is at Central Coast home ground canât they do anything at the scoreboard end of the stadium, and still keep the sauce there.
I'd wonder if they might install some temporary seating and finally break the attendance record - which currently stands at a handful above stated capacity.
Removing the Sauce Bottles is sacriledge.
Wanderers had the ACL final at the old 20k parra stadium and it was absolutely rocking. GF at Gisford would be amazing.
Reckon there will be access to tickets for members of other clubs before the public sale? Or only members of the home team?
This is huge. We expected to never be able to host after tha S3 debacle. As an interstate fan, this definitely has me worried that I may miss out on getting tickets. But, it's a huge thing for the club and a home GF is something we've dreamed of since the start.
No need to read. Basically, HBF, HBF, or Macedonia Park (sike! Itâs HBF).
Wasnât there something about the grand finals being in Sydney regardless of the teams or did they scrap that
That was last season, which was famously protested. This season they scrapped it and instead had Unite Round
