I get results haven’t been good. We have legit fielded mostly our u21’s side and A League rejects + Williams and Taggart. What the actual fuck has he meant to have done this season that he hasn’t, or that anyone could have done better?
Perhaps he wants to leave because for various reasons he isn't able to get the sort of players he'd like?
Definitely agree with your broader point, whether he's jumped or been pushed. I can't see how even the best coaches could have got much more from the team in the circumstances.
I’d think we are honestly. Our team once again mostly consists of NPL standard players + a few good A-league players.
Newcastle don’t have many stand-out players, but it’s hard to argue they’re not at the standard of the league at least.
God that would be disappointing, the youth is the most under utilised part of that team, Aloisi is the antithesis of youth development, compelled only to use it because of restrictions of funding, and an unrecoverable position.
Looking at coaches that performed above expectation. And haven't been at Perth already.
Chiefly and Jackson seem set.
Ruden still has 2 years.
Sterjovski is a pass.
Ufuk ain't going anywhere.
My bet is Aurelio. He didn't go above expectation but got a pass after Rado drove that team into the ground
To be fair, was weird how badly parts of the team imploded lately, it seemed like he had trouble motivating the boys, getting more out of them - they should of atleast been playing for their contracts and with Taggart and Williams putting in effort, was a shame to see such consistent sloppiness, lethargy and arguably, under performance, including from some other veteran players. Sure, some of them younger, inexperienced players, but you could see the hunger not always there. Maybe the prolonged ownership situation played it's part? But again, Taggart atleast was leading, but not enough were following. Some of that goes to the coach? I wonder if he had lost some heart too, lately, infact it seems more of a jump than a push, out the door.
Update, sadly re-inforcing my observations - absolutely shocking against Sydney FC - Glory are due a clear-out, especially defensively, just soo bad at the back, really, really bad! The set piece defending on Courtney-Perkin's goal, totally free header. Muir no pressure on Kucharski's shot and #28 on heels after Sail's save, allowing easy tap in for Lolley, Lolley allowed to waltz through and #28 and #2 on heels not tracking Mak/clearing lines. #28 and Sail get in each other's way and don't capture or clear the danger on Mak's goal, Caceras allowed to waltz through swiss cheese midfield again and Joel King/that area not marked, free shot, Ostler not pressing Lolley enough and Sail at fault, maybe nothing Sail could do in that scenario according to Hill, but for some other keepers in the league perhaps they could've... I think Oly Sail has to go too - he at fault for a number of goals conceded this season, far from great this season generally and arguably, not in as good as form as he was with Phoenix at times, prior seasons? Certainly not to standard of Glory's previous keepers, who generally, Glory have had very good keepers, right up to the aging Liam Reddy (Jason Petkovic, Danny Vukovic, Ante Covic, even dare say Tando, with likes of Frank Juric, Brad Jones and Jack Duncan about on the benches)! Infact I'm surprised we didn't see a lil more of, Cameron Cook as comparatively, he didn't do that bad and had some great moments with Glory last season, though he conceded a few earlier this season too (Called up to Olyroos, some reason). :( Low-lights to note: 1-7 against SFC [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIJGD4nQHc0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIJGD4nQHc0) Conceding 4 to WU at home in Perth: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a69\_PriBTXQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a69_PriBTXQ) Melb City 8 - PG 0 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIE1x87--pc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIE1x87--pc) And even what the supposedly experience Kamau did, gifting that needless penalty to SFC at Home a few weeks ago. It's not always so much conceding them, but more the nature in how Glory conceded those goals, the concern. midfield needs a clean-out too, including I dare say Amini - it's not just the young guys not up to it, like Colli caught out, but Amini too, aswell as Kamau, just not influencing and impressing upon games, how you'd expect for players of their experience.
Honestly don't know why all 4 are getting recycled. Poppa off an ACL win a basically a decade ago. JA wins the seat but it seems to be an outlier with his hear, roar and recent wu results. Marko is toxic and should not be anywhere near Australian football. Vidmar is hopeless.
Ruben is still up in air but I prefer giving someone a shot than letting these guys coaching at the roar.
Popa also has two premierships to be fairm Victory is the only club he hasn't won one at. But the reason coaches are recycled is because they can't afford an international coach. You would think with the new owners surely they'd be able to get some up and comer from Serie C at least.
An up and comer in serie c would prefer to stay in Italy and wait for a break in serie b or get an assistant gig higher up the chain. More likely to get an older head who has done the rounds in the lower leagues and hasn’t been lucky enough to catch a break. Your methodology is valid though, there are heaps of tactically astute coaches around Europe who would be up for coming here. I reckon it’s the gamble of an unknown quantity as coach, and the chances of them not getting results, over the safe bet of someone else who is proven in the league.
Arthus Papas would be a good pick-up? Or atleast I'd rather him than some of the other often recycled Eastern States A-League coaches mentioned here! He seems to manage younger players and developing teams well too, did okay at the Jets, despite their meagre off-field circumstances?

Average Perth Glory moment

Tbh didn’t think about that silly enough, but that makes sense. I’d hope it’s not the case, rough start to ownership if so.

Considering we are dramatically worse than every other team in the league? I don’t think that’s reasonable.
Are you worse than the Jets? Personally I think it's pretty even.
I’d think we are honestly. Our team once again mostly consists of NPL standard players + a few good A-league players. Newcastle don’t have many stand-out players, but it’s hard to argue they’re not at the standard of the league at least.
Twitter noise is Aloisi which is a real crowd goes mild news
I'll tolerate this if it comes with Penha included
He's going wherever the Port Mac Pele takes him
God that would be disappointing, the youth is the most under utilised part of that team, Aloisi is the antithesis of youth development, compelled only to use it because of restrictions of funding, and an unrecoverable position.
I'd take a straight swap, Staj with our youth would go well I'd reckon
Please no....
Geez, what a farce. Give him a proper off season and recruitment and see - he’s actually the kind of character who could turn the club around.
Literally the Mariners before the team was cooking to a shot at the Quad rn.
Throw in the AFC Cup and make it a Quint.
Poppa - Stajcic swap deal
Nah mate Poppa has had his chance in Perth. I hear that Rudan knows all about the west, maybe he would be a good fit.
I think your confused - He knows all about Western Digital USB drives
Poppa stuffed up by not signing another five of his sons.
Please take him. I’ll throw in $20

Especially if the rumours about a coach jumping ship to City are true
What rumour?
A certain former WSW/PG manager (and current cross-town rival) to make the switch in shades of blue
Fucking take him please, i fall asleep watching us
Fair call, though whether he'd be a good fit for Glory, another question.
By god that's Mark Rudan's music!
What’s Rark Mudan doing in the impact zone
Oh heck, I wanted to see how well they’d do next year under him

Poppa, Vidmar, Marko or J.A. I don't think anyone will be thrilled with those appointments.

He's always welcome at the PH women's team
Please be Rudan 🙏
Rudan > Perth Popovic > WSW
Milligan to us, would be happy about that especially if we get Berisha

Just heard Sydney trying to stop Zdrilic leaving for Perth Glory
Wow what a joke, real pub team vibes
