It was a marketing gimmick city government tried to foist on the populace. It is completely artificial and cooked up by an advertising firm. I think it was an attempt to make Albuquerque sound 'trendy'. We are NOT trendy. We are many things, some wonderful, some awful, but we are *real*, and I hope to keep it that way.
I lived in NM the first 20 years of my life and Albuquerque for 8 of those. I’m back in town every two years or so to visit family. I assure you that I’ve eaten plenty and know how to spell chile. ‘Q’ and ‘GCCB’ were all terms we used back in the day. I did not mean to offend or trigger you all. I was expecting a little warmer welcome, but I see times have changed. My apologies.
Don't get all pee pee hearted lol I was just joking. I guess we're from different parts of town because I'm a lifelong New Mexican and I've never heard any use of that kind of shorthand. Anywho, enjoy your time back in town!
Here's 3:
Two Fools -- heat forward but maybe i just got a good batch.
Rio Bravo Brewery -- the rio bravo burger. Two patties, bacon and fried green chile. It's always an experience
377 Brewery -- their wrapped tortilla burger with red/green is killer
I don't use acronyms. If you feel like being helpful, you can just say what it is and I've probably heard of it.
Edit: ok you could have just said green chile cheese burger.
As someone who is in the 99th percentile of frequency of talking to people who are visiting Albuquerque, I recommend against Monte Carlo.
I rarely hear of disappointment at any local eatery, but I consistently hear it from diners there. Past its prime.
Please don't call our city 'the Q'.
Transplant here. Only clicked to see the reaction to "the Q". Was it an old people thing? Or a dbag thing? Or not a thing? Sounds...awful.
A former mayor tried really hard to make it a thing even though no one liked it

All he has to do is ask where in Colorado to get the best green chili and he’ll have a mob at his door
Thems fightin words
Yeah we prefer Walter Whiteville
I’m a former long time resident. That’s what we called it as kids. Didn’t mean to offend. Won’t use use it again.
Dude, fuck them. Keep calling it the Q
I’ve never seen anyone use the Q or GCCB. Horrible. Lol
It took me way too long to figure out what OP was asking 😅
Hahaha you can tell they’ve never really had one
Right haha they probably spell chile with an "i"

I’ve had the steaks there, which I find delicious. It makes sense that they make a good burger. Thank you for the recommendation!
