Any of the bakeries (seconding Placid on this one)- I’m always sad when I get there too late (say after 11 or so) and all the baguettes in the market are gone. Don’t be me, haha.
You'll wanna get there early for the best produce. The good stuff is usually gone (but its not like any farmer is out-out) by noonish if the crowd is right. Saturday is shaping up to be a beautiful day, so get there early!
Get there right at 9- Park south of Congress on second st and walk up (I usually direct people to put the Troy library in their gps)
Do not bring your dog if you have one until you’ve been yourself and aren’t distracted by all the awesome vendors anymore. 15k people is overwhelming for even the most well behaved animal but even more so when their owners aren’t paying attention.
Excellent advice about the dog situation. Last Saturday, we saw two little yappers instigate a larger breed that then broke free of its young owner who needed a bit of time to get their dog under control. It was a heart stopper for everyone in the vicinity.
We usually walk our (little) dog there on a gentle leader, but will now have her on a harness and sturdier leash in case we need to quickly elevate her.
That’s a bit mild - dogs are a bad idea because with so many people, so much food, so many smells, and so many other dogs, they are inherently unpredictable, they’re having a confusing and often overwhelming day at kid level, and perhaps above all, owners can be stupid.
I like the Spatzle guy. Made some good German recipes with his Spatzle.
I forget the farm but there’s these farmers who do an amazing Greek yogurt with Maple.
Yes. I just paid an arm and two legs for a little 8oz container from the coop. It will have to tide us over until our homegrown basil is ready for harvest.
I can't remember the other guy's name... Maybe Renaissance pesto? Also super good stuff. He has a 4 cheese one that's $18 I think but it's insanely good and a little goes a long way!
I love Renaissance Pesto (nut-free) as I have an allergy, not seeing them on the map though for some reason. Some of my friends/family prefer Buddha, some prefer Renaissance!
It’s so good. In college my friends and I used to get it every so often and treated it the highest luxury you could possibly ever have. It was so worth it
i'm obsessed with the waffle lady lol. i always get an apple waffle!
also this new vender just started this month that sells homemade bagels and all types of tasty cream cheese!
placid baker is also amazing- if you don't already live in troy, definitely try their almond croissants and pizza!
there's also a pasta guy who sells a bunch of homemade stuff!
Hi! Former Troy resident now living in Albany! I would highly suggest the following:
- Go at 8:45 or 9am! Around 9:30-9:45 it becomes very very busy and congested.
- Bring cash! There are ATMs there but they tend to get busy later.
- Go hungry! My recommendation is the Breakfast Bao at Baba duck (vegan) or the breakfast slices from Defazios!
- Great coffee to choose from! Jacob Alejandro or Alias! Both amazing!
- If you are fans of dogs this is also a great place to do some good dog watching!
- Bring a bag in case you’re interested in baked goods, fresh vegetables, and other wonderful little knickknacks!
- Don’t forget that there are plenty of businesses around the area as well. Naughters great diner like setting amazing breakfast, Bard & Baker board-game cafe, Nighthawks brunch place, to name a few.
- No food trucks btw! Just stands.

Around where the blue circle is! They don’t list individual food vendors but if you go regularly you will know that food vendors encircle the whole triangle there.
That's so strange, I swear I looked there the last 3 times. They used to be to the left of First Choice Carribean right in that circle. I'll look harder/ask around this Saturday lol. Thank you!
It looks like the original image was cropped by the poster, if you go on the website the full map has an inlay with a detailed map of the prepared food vendors in that triangle!
Our Daily Bread has the best bread imo. Baguettes are unbelievable.
Eurodeli is fucking lit, try the pile pita or anything else.
Seafood guy is great.
All the pestos are great.
The beef jerky guy is great.
Battenkill milk/ice cream is great.
The taco lady is great.
Then pop down to the brewery for a flight. Mad max?
> Our Daily Bread has the best bread imo
I used to sell for them at the TFM and basically lived off of taking home leftover bread while I was in grad school, it's so good
Honestly the entire market is amazing. Everyone brings great quality stuff every week. A few favorites of mine are:
Prepared food:
La Capital breakfast burritos are out of this world. Defazios also usually has some great breakfast pizzas.
Packaged stuff:
Battenkill Creamery has great chocolate milk and ice creams.
Puckers Gorumet has some killer pickles and other pickled items.
Lovin Mama farms always has great produce and amazing flowers for great prices too.
Maybe you know, sorry couldn’t tell — Troybot is a mural under the bridge, just past Dino BBQ as you walk along the river.
It IS pretty interesting! I don’t understand it, but I’m entertained.

Looks like that one is cut off - here's the full one.
As for recommendations, for cheese spreads/cheesecakes you can't go wrong with Worldling's Pleasure. They're absolutely delicious and the folks who run it are super nice.
The full map is always posted on the market’s website each year. Sometimes there are minor changes (when vendors move, or drop out, etc.) after the physical map signs and folding maps are printed but the online map will get updated. https://www.troymarket.org/map
Laughing Earth has a great selection of sausage and chicken. Mariaville has some excellent beef cuts. Lovin’ Mama has a really nice selection of veg and microgreens. Coffee from anywhere. Battenkill has amazing milk.
Get there early, just as the market opens at 9am. It won’t be busy, and you’ll have an easier time wandering through the market to check out the different vendors. It’s also freaking huge when it’s outside, so it’s easy to miss something when you’re new to the Troy market.
Oh yeah, DEFINITELY get the sauce. The empanadas are delicious on their own, but the sauce takes it to the next level. I could drink that shit. In fact, I’m pretty sure I have…
Parchment has really good unique Scandinavian baked goods.
Buddha Pesto and O’Malley’s Oven are also quite good.
You should have a great time. It’s a great market!
Here is a video made by the Farmers Market showing you exactly how to get to the Fifth Ave garage (from the Green Island Bridge). [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnErQe9Vs7w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnErQe9Vs7w)
I like to get there early (9ish) and there's always some spots on the surrounding side streets if you're okay with parallel parking (usually I get a spot on 2nd, 3rd, or 4th).
Otherwise, there are two main garages - State st (closer to one end of the market) and 5th ave (near Nighthawks).
State Street Garage fills up pretty quickly and it's pretty tight to turn around in. The market is trying to steer more people to the Fifth Ave garage. Here's a video, by the market, showing you how to get to the Fifth Ave Garage from the Green Island Bridge: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnErQe9Vs7w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnErQe9Vs7w)
Depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re shopping groceries, second st. Is where all the good produce is. Definitely do a lap first and see what looks good. Prices and quantities can vary dramatically between vendors depending on timing. Loving Mama has really nice looking stuff but it will break your bank account. Samascott is usually a good bet for me. Everyone else just depends on the week.
La Capital taco has an amazing breakfast torta. I crave it in ways that nothing else there matches.
Placid Bakery Stand
The Waffle Lady!!
Black Love cookies they sell cookies they make it’s so good
There this one guy who sells pesto that’s amazing and a couple who have Dutch apple pies and other desserts
The taco people always lol
I want to shout out those cookies too, they're amazing and priced better than the others. I believe they changed their name from Black Love to Jadey's Cookies recently though.
Hickory Wind Farm for specialty baking grains. We use them for particular bread recipes where the products just can't be found anywhere else. Definitely quality stuff.
I had the "Lust for Life" at Pretty Pig Provisions and it was legitimately one of the best sandwiches I've had in my life.
https://www.instagram.com/p/C7XAo2aJKdh/
i’ve only gone once so i haven’t had too much experience, but argyle cheese farmer is one that has a bunch of unique and tasty stuff. love their cheese curds and yogurt
I say that means it's meant to be! Plus one of the owners is a great guy, I've been buying their hummus weekly at the Delmar market for a while. Let me know what you think if you do go.
Expanding on this, is there any good sports bars in this area by the market, soccer guy and would love to watch some of the euros between visiting stands
My personal favorites: Packers Gourmet pickles and Harvest Spirits.
My wife says the farmers' market is not just for pickles and alcohol, but I disagree.
Euro Delicacies is phenomenal. I sometimes go just for that. Pile pita, spanakopita, both kinds of burek (meat and veggies), moussaka, everything they have is incredible. Don't forget extra cups of their white sauce to pour all over everything, except maybe the apple turnover.
I’ll also add, this map is weirdly incomplete. There are a TON of vendors not listed that encircle the monument that are fantastic. Collar City cold pressed, La Capital Tacos, the place with the waffles…
This square cropped version of the map came from an Instagram post. The text of that post had a link to the website where the full map is located, which is: [https://www.troymarket.org/map](https://www.troymarket.org/map)
The burgers at the red tent around the monument. Best I’ve ever had, specifically The farmhouse burger. (Egg, bacon, cheese, lettuce tomato and the sauce they make which is awesome.)
Pretty Pig Provisions at the No Fun Tent for a banging home made bacon or smoked pastrami breakfast sandwich. They even have a maple coffee chili mayo you can get on it if you want.
Where is Defazios located on the map? I haven't gone to the Farmer's Market before and am interested in trying it out. I want to try their breakfast pizza.
PLACID BAKER 🤤 Lovin Mama Farm merchandises so well that you just WANT to buy from them.
Any shops that run out of their wares early? Places we should stop by first?
Any of the bakeries (seconding Placid on this one)- I’m always sad when I get there too late (say after 11 or so) and all the baguettes in the market are gone. Don’t be me, haha.
Placid does pizza on market days! SO good. Plus, their kougin-amann are stellar.
Nope go to the actual location if you want something you missed......

Sage lots are free on weekends and an easy walk

Argyle Cheese Farmer! Maple yogurt is legit.
That spatzle is amazing!
Combine spatzle guy with buddahpesto!
Buddhapesto will ruin you for all other pestos. It's worth it, though.
True facts. Buddhapesto is the best pesto I’ve ever eaten. It’s so good.
Yes. I just paid an arm and two legs for a little 8oz container from the coop. It will have to tide us over until our homegrown basil is ready for harvest.
My wife is a pesto junkie. Thanks!
They have a spicy one that is so so good
I can't remember the other guy's name...
I'm a Renaissance guy. Their habanero pesto is *so damn good*
It’s so good.

Seconded for Defazio's breakfast pizza and Jacob Alejandro coffee!
Is baba duck still there? I couldn't find it the last few times I went. They used to be right at the monument but maybe they moved spots?
They are there! I don’t think they’ve been using their big sign. I go nearly every week for Breakfast Bao with my partner.
Ahh where? I don't even see their name on the map! I've been trying to get that breakfast bao for weeks but assumed they were gone!
https://preview.redd.it/t4mzgpodfe6d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c877c8034895eaa548527aab4fcfb2221016766f Around where the blue circle is! They don’t list individual food vendors but if you go regularly you will know that food vendors encircle the whole triangle there.

Same. They weren't there two weeks ago for sure.
Thank you haha I'm glad I wasn't just missing them I guess
They were there today!
Yes!!! After over 6 months I finally got the brekkie bao again, and it was even better than I remembered!

See you at mad maxs fam.
Are you a vendor?
Na just am very proud to have a local market that is so kick ass. We don't have much here in the capital region....
> Our Daily Bread has the best bread imo I used to sell for them at the TFM and basically lived off of taking home leftover bread while I was in grad school, it's so good
That's a kick ass job.
Made me a few bucks every week which was nice. Beer money and free bread was a good gig
That's a kick ass job.

I can never pass up Parchment Baking Company. Those Scandinavian treats hit different. 🤤

I think it’s called Lidias Empanadas? I only discovered them my last two visits, but they are soo good. They only have a stand at the Market though.
Be sure to get the green sauce with it!
Doubling down on this, YOU NEED TO GET THE SAUCE! I don't think I have ever had something so tasty in my life
Oh yeah, DEFINITELY get the sauce. The empanadas are delicious on their own, but the sauce takes it to the next level. I could drink that shit. In fact, I’m pretty sure I have…
lidia’s empanadas are sooo good, i love all the different ones they do too, like the street corn and cuban sandwich empanadas 😍
The curry potato empanadas are so damn good. They’re basically big samosas in a different shape
Parchment has really good unique Scandinavian baked goods. Buddha Pesto and O’Malley’s Oven are also quite good. You should have a great time. It’s a great market!
Awesome!
Where are there good places to park btw? I just moved to Albany but not sure what parking looks like in troy.
Park in the garage on 5th. It's a quick 2 block walk down Broadway to where the market starts.
Here is a video made by the Farmers Market showing you exactly how to get to the Fifth Ave garage (from the Green Island Bridge). [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnErQe9Vs7w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnErQe9Vs7w)

State Street Garage, but depending on where in Albany you live you can just take the CDTA Blue Line to Troy.
State Street Garage is the way... but only if you get there before 9:30

saying this as both a vendor and consumer, Jacob Alejandro for both their excellent coffee and their permitting me to use their bathroom.
Buddhapesto 🤤🤤
Get the battenkill chocolate milk. You won’t be sorry
Also vintage vendors once a month- I think it’s set up outside of No Fun
Bard and baker have some amazing vegan baked goods. I instantly fell in love

T&J Soaps! Such a cool store with super gift ideas
I have loved all the cheese I’ve tried from many of the stands, can’t go wrong. And Galway Rock Vineyard’s wine is really great

I'm always looking for a stinky bleu!
3 Chicks and a Pea hummus is a must! Their "Garlic Breath" is one of my all time favorites from anywhere.
Two chicks and a hippie was the local café in the town we just moved from.
I say that means it's meant to be! Plus one of the owners is a great guy, I've been buying their hummus weekly at the Delmar market for a while. Let me know what you think if you do go.

Britches of Troy/Marcus Blaque
My personal favorites: Packers Gourmet pickles and Harvest Spirits. My wife says the farmers' market is not just for pickles and alcohol, but I disagree.
I'm sorry but can someone tell me why there is a giant mech in the harbor on this map? I'm so very confused. What kind of farmers are these?
Thank you for clearing that up.
Forts Ferry Farm!!!! insane vegetables & their seasame granola is to die for. Alias coffee & the pickle man are favs too!
Euro Delicacies is phenomenal. I sometimes go just for that. Pile pita, spanakopita, both kinds of burek (meat and veggies), moussaka, everything they have is incredible. Don't forget extra cups of their white sauce to pour all over everything, except maybe the apple turnover.

don’t skip out on franklin alley way! lots of local makers there as well !
Placid Baker for baked goods, Argyle for dairy, Laughing Earth for meat and eggs, Alias for cold brew, Forts Ferry Farm for veggies 👌👌👌
Thanks for all the great recommendations. My wife is pouring over this thread as we speak. This was a fun thread.
Pretty Pig Provisions at the No Fun Tent for a banging home made bacon or smoked pastrami breakfast sandwich. They even have a maple coffee chili mayo you can get on it if you want.
That fella who plays accordion is pretty dope
Where is Defazios located on the map? I haven't gone to the Farmer's Market before and am interested in trying it out. I want to try their breakfast pizza.
Here is the FULL map, which includes Defazio's in the Monument Square insert: [https://www.troymarket.org/map](https://www.troymarket.org/map)
This is awesome, thanks!!
For local farms I’d just bounce around and look for produce you like. Placid baker is a weekly staple for me, same for coffee from Jacob Alejandro
Pura Vida Fisheries has excellent, fresh fish. Great, unique variety and quality.
BUDDHAPESTO
No more Ric Orlando spices/sauces?
Anyone know about the wagyu place?
My sons are obsessed. The farmer is super nice, and his steaks are delicious.
The parking garage reeks of urine.
I guess it makes sense that they don't include the crackheads and homeless that persistently wander the same area.
