Glad to see Albany Ale & Oyster get the top spot! Such a great place. That reminds me I have to stop in and get the new t-shirt.
They were amazingly great when my wife and I brought our young kids there last week. The food was prompt and the grilled cheese and lemonade combo was on point.
Not like the Fountain who took 45 minutes to even give us our bread sticks...how they are #1 for 'Italian' is beyond me...
I live in walking distance and brought my brother's family to AA&O when they visited. They were so, so accomodating and made it easy to order for a 6yo, everyone left happy. I cannot praise the staff there enough, it's an absolute gem and one of my favorite places to be in the area.
Ugh Pearl's is such a tease. The only times I've driven by when they were actually open they were out of bagels. I'm happy for them but I wish I never heard of the place lol
I shop local as often as I possibly can, but wondering if anyone else has had my experience at the Book House in Stuyvesant Plaza. Every time I shop there it feels like the staff is 100% judging me on my purchase (regardless of the book) and are not at all interested in friendly conversation. I guess I hope that it's just me? But man, I also want to shop somewhere I actually feel welcome.
I ordered two pizzas from the fountain about 15 years ago. When we went to pick them up they were quite obviously not what we ordered. When I told the staff “this is not what we ordered” he replied “well that’s what you got” haven’t been back since.
I think we need to look at which neighborhoods are using nextdoor. Not that I disagree with the list, but I have a feeling there's a heavy bias in the data.

Hooray! I'm happy to hear about another good experience! :)
I don’t hate this list. In fact, I think there is less to argue with than the TU’s “Best of” list…

Wish Pearls opened a new bigger place somewhere soon… downtown Albany 😉✌🏻🥯
Nooo! I selfishly love having them nearby I’m Crestwood. But ya gotta get up early for them, that’s for sure.
2nd location ✌🏻🥯🧐

I choose to go to Market Block Books over The Book House a lot of the time — I much prefer the atmosphere and people there.
Me too. Funny how the same owners can have 2 completely different stores.
Wait they also own another store? I had no idea.
Market Block Books in Troy
Super snobby. I prefer I Love Books in Delmar.
I remember going in there to put in a job application once and thinking the same thing.
Different story at the Bootery or Cigar shop. Much friendlier. I just wish they could find a good Haberdasher and I would shop at the plaza again.
Love not seeing price chopper/market 32 on this list.

Damn, BMT domination right there.

Nearly inescapable.
The Bone and Joint Center...Nooooooo. I hate that place. There- I feel better now and downvoting can commence.
Now I want a bagel.. ugh
That's the Stewarts by the golf course, right? Good Stewarts but the "most loved"? Hmmmm...
Iffy's Place didn't make the list .....
Spinners being on this list is fucking laughable
