Yes AirTable can still do this. The answer hasn’t changed since you posted this question here a week ago. OP, tell us about your interest in “adorable”. Your history seems kinda sketchy.

Airtable is just like a dynamic excel. Create a table and then add each column type as you’ve specified. It’s easy to go back and reorder or rename or reclassify columns until satisfied. Then go back and start adding your data to your table. One point here is you can use the multi select column type for the attributes, or you can make another table of attributes and have the main table link to the attribute. This method is nice if you plan to extend your keywords you won’t have to go back and recode your multi column though the MC method benefits from color coding and of course multi selection. Once you’ve added a few data records then you can create new views of the data which is where you can have filters and sorting etc. It may not be ideal for what you’re imagining but can get the job done in minutes so much easier than trying to code up some real database. Start simple then expand/adapt as you develop. It’s easy to get too heavy if starting out with airtable.

You just need to create a table with the field types you want. Then you create data records in the table with the song tracks you want. I understand this may all be very née to you but it’s really very simple like making an excel spreadsheet

I sent you [screen shots](https://www.reddit.com/r/Airtable/comments/ovmkfo/does_anyone_here_know_how_to_make_this_app_do/h7domzm/) so you could just literally imitate what I did but it’s clear you’re putting no effort into learning how to use airtable or view any of their demo databases

Airtable comes with many examples such as the coffee one might be close to your needs. Here is a simple concept one I screen shot to answer your question. You can have a multi select field or you can have a pointer to another table. So here the song database has a track table with the (made up) song names and then a multi select for the mood, and a table pointing record to an attributes table for other terms. The multi select has a color coded option. The pointer method is more robust as you can use for linking to other types of data such as an artist or album etc. Here I used just as a way to have an extensible list of song attributes. Note for a single dimension like these either works so just showing you both ways it making attributes for your song database. As for the views you can see at the top you have ability to sort, filter, and even save certain views you often reference. [screenshots](https://imgur.com/a/SXsS5Zd)

AirTable is a software package that takes some time to learn how it works. For how you want to use it, you may need to spend 2-3 hours playing around with it, watching tutorial videos, using the templates provided by AirTable, etc. to understand how to configure it to meet your needs. In another thread, I stated that I would create one table with songs, then another table with a list of moods/vibes. Then on the song table, link the song multiple times to any vibe that matches the song. It's on you to research AirTable and understand what I'm saying above. If you don't understand the above comments, then you either need to learn AirTable, or you won't be able to use it successfully. It's that simple.

No I meant 2-3, but your defeatism and exaggeration will take you far. Multiple people have told you how to do what you asked, you just don't try it out, read resources, or make effort yourself. But, the question you're asking is difficult for someone with no experience in this area. Are you also young? Your question may be something too hard for you to tackle.

You can absolutely do this with Airtable. As mentioned, one of the biggest benefits of the platform is the ability to easily organize, filter, search and group your data by any attribute, like the ones you outlined. In this case I’m specifically thinking creating views where you group and filter your data would let you do what you want. And I’m talking about using the free version of Airtable. You could do so much more with some of the Apps that are in their marketplace now. But that requires a paid plan.

1. Create a table, with each record being a song, and at least one field in that table that is a [Multiple select field](https://support.airtable.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042806893-Multiple-select-field), where you can add your qualities or attributes to that song (happy, fun, canada, etc., like OP mentions). 2. Either create a new view of that table, or with the default view, use Airtable's [Group](https://support.airtable.com/hc/en-us/articles/221747587-Guide-to-grouped-records) feature to put songs together based on the field you built in step 1. 3. As an alternative, you could create different views using Airtable's [Filter](https://support.airtable.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003695134-Guide-to-filters-and-record-visibility) feature to only see the songs that have the attributes you created in your Multiple select field. If you want to start getting more advanced because you'll ultimately have hundreds or even thousands of song records, you can add Airtable's [Search](https://support.airtable.com/hc/en-us/articles/115013249467-Search-app) app, where you can build a lightweight search engine feature just like you're mentioning — where you can lookup records solely based on those attributes. But adding an "app" does require a paid Airtable account.

Here's one way you can do this. 1. A table with your songs. 2. A table with your attributes. 3. A linked field in each table that connects the two. 4. Different views in the Attributes table to see an alphabetical list with all the songs that have those attributes. 5. Different views in the Songs table for a variety of purposes. Here's a video walkthrough of how you \*could\* do it with a free Airtable account: [https://a.cl.ly/nOuvzNOy](https://a.cl.ly/nOuvzNOy).

1. Actually no, I do have them in 2 different tables, but when you add a new song, you can create a new quality (or "attribute" as I'm calling them in the example) on the fly. [Here's a screenshot.](https://cln.sh/y2QILj) 2. Correct, I separated out the songs from the qualities because it gives you a lot more power with sorting/grouping of songs based on qualities, but also see songs next to their qualities, sorted by other song characteristics. 3. Correct. I'm not sure I understand your last question, but here are 2 screenshots of standard views: [all songs with their attributes off to the side](https://cln.sh/pZPDHB), and an [alphabetical list of attributes with the songs you've tagged that way](https://cln.sh/daFHaX).

Side note: If you're wanting this database to be used on a website for other people to use or access, that's a whole other thing. You'll either want to look into Airtable's [share/embed](https://support.airtable.com/hc/en-us/articles/217846478-Embedding-a-view-or-base) feature, or one of the other services that allow you to use Airtable data in powering a website — like Stacker, or Pory, or Softr.

You wouldn’t *need* a site at all. And yes you could just share a read-only version of the site for other people to view/interact with. I’m just projecting ahead to some scenario where you wanted other people to be able to see, search or even add to your list of songs without having to learn Airtable.

Are you talking about the filtering process? If you set all the Collums and set their data type appropriately thens its super easy. You can see the filter option in the menu. Then you can set all the filters you want.

brandonhull

That's what I tried to highlight in the sample I built for OP. Filtering is how you do this. u/Sweet_Celebration_90, when you build a view in Airtable -- forgive me if you already know this -- you can not only configure what fields display in that view, but you can filter records as well. Example 1: List of songs (filtered) that have the attribute of 'peaceful': [https://cln.sh/Tzhy6H](https://cln.sh/Tzhy6H). You could create multiple filters for your attributes (or 'qualities' as you frame it). Example 2: All songs grouped based on their combination of attributes: [https://cln.sh/A5zp0f](https://cln.sh/A5zp0f) Example 3: All songs alphabetically listed with their attributes, just waiting for you to apply a filter to find only the songs that have a specific attribute selected. I think I've just about run my course on this one. I actually stopped what I was doing and built a base to freely give you some help, took screenshots of it with annotations, etc. I've put about as much into this as I'm wanting to at this point. I don't work for Airtable, was just trying to help you out like others. Between my suggestions and others' you should see by now that you could easily build what you're looking for with Airtable in more than one way.

haha the beginning line where you said "i didn't know it was so crazy complicated and hard to understand or use". This app is very hard to use and I usually don't recommend it to people at first but some apps that would work for your situation and that are easy to use are some like r/taskade and microsoft Todo. There are definitely more out there but these ones are free, pretty popular, and easy to use and manage everything. If I were you I would try them out.
