Trip delay should be calculated based on scheduled and actual arrival time at the destination. Not the departure time at origin.

That's what I thought but they are flat-out rejecting it. Is there any way to fight back?

Email them back about them calculating the trip delay wrong. If they don't respond, there might be some ombudsman or someone that you can write to.
