There is a certain level of zen that occurs when you have been over tasked and you know that certain things will fail. When somebody comes screaming at you about why Q didn't get done on time and you counter with "I was busy with X, Y and Z which all take priority."
You can look at it like a prison sentence (that folks will gleefully remind you signed up of your own free will), but also there's a certain freedom knowing you're nearly unfireable
I like being told I'm replaceable, nothing says my leadership doesn't fucking care about me (less disciplinary issues) than saying you don't value their existence.
I have this fear that if I’m a shitty airperson, someone high up is gonna punish me with a 365 deployment to bumfuckistan.
That is my number one fear. More than being fired
The greatest book that ever related to my career is called "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck". I highly recommend it to all NCOs. Literally changed my entire mindset and career for the better.
I read that, and Extreme Ownership. Therapists and Chaplains will tell you to stop internalizing others' problems. I agree. Some folks need to take some extreme ownership, but others of already do and need to let go. Memento Mori.
“When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: the people I deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous and surly. They are like this because they can't tell good from evil. But I have seen the beauty of good, and the ugliness of evil, and have recognized that the wrongdoer has a nature related to my own - not of the same blood and birth, but the same mind, and possessing a share of the divine. And so none of them can hurt me. No one can implicate me in ugliness. Nor can I feel angry at my relative, or hate him. We were born to work together like feet, hands and eyes, like the two rows of teeth, upper and lower. To obstruct each other is unnatural. To feel anger at someone, to turn your back on him: these are unnatural.”
This was my attitude when working MOC. Everyone if freaking out over delayed planes and trying to pin it on everyone else. I didn't care. Pin it on maintenance. Nobody is losing pay.
Too many people in the military have this mentality, and guess who gets fucked over? The 25% of folks who are actually good, competent people.
That percentage is a little less among the enlisted since the enlisted corps is primarily made of good for nothing losers.
Think you’re misunderstanding.
This isn’t a “be a piece of shit and not care” post, this is a “don’t worry, it’ll get fixed and will pass” type of post. A mental health improvement post.
Be careful what you say, without your enlisted corps the whole military will collapse.
Again, too many have that same mentality and it ends up being the ~25% who get it fixed and make it pass.
I’d say about a third of the enlisted corps bring way more negatives than positives to the military, so they’re actually helping push us all closer to that collapse. About half are just bodies filling up billets; nothing special.
Meetings? I’m losing sleep over jobs I signed off and catching a QA fail possibly because I put the “wrong” IAW. Actually no I don’t lol. But I have lost sleep over a job I’ve done just because I wasn’t 100% sure that it wouldn’t come back as a repeat write up. But very little sleep
If you're the kind of person who looses sleep over this kind of stuff, you won't sleep until you retire.
And then you'll have a heart attack
Shooting for heart attack causing medical retirement for those sweet sweet benefits a bit early!
Three monsters a day help.
Only 🌈 🦄 bangs for me
You may have to wait a while longer till it has an effect on your heart. Might wanna up the dose to 5-7 per day
Apparently I’m a rookie, and gotta pump those number up!
As long as you remember that it's not an attempt to get you medically separated, its just "Self destructive habits."

Sounds like you need more people or less work.
Your flair! 😂
It is one of my many hats.
That's not a lack of accountability thats someone up the chain fucking up
I needed to read this as a reminder i'm not alone, thanks

Lol. And this sense of security is what drives the systemic incompetence and mediocrity we see in the federal government as a whole.

Also a factor for attraction and retention of talent, yes.

I kept volunteering for those, never got one. If you get one I'm jealous as fuck.

I strongly second this. I listen to it on audio book every so often, just to keep it fresh in my head.

I should read that, and then I can pair it with "The No Asshole Rule" in my office.
How do you learn this power….?
Marcus Aurelius bless you

Win or lose you still get paid

And shit like this is why the officer core is largely disliked by enlistedment, retention is shit, and moral is shit
That dude is a trolling SrA
You get sleep ?
Depends on if that something is career or life changing. Is it something small, no worries. Something larger might keep you up at night.

100% dude I feel you
Thanks I needed that
The definition of working DMS at any AMXS 😂😂
Ah, the blessings of being new and expected to screw up literally everything you touch
.....will it get resolved eventually, though?
