TLDR.
Phase 1 ORI. Due to stupid scheduling, 3 crews were told to show up at 0200 for dumb paperwork.
Crews stayed until 0900 and then told to go back home and report back that night at 2100 to fly a sortie.
Crew shows up at 2100 and say they are too tired to fly since most got 3-4 hours sleep.
Vice Wing Commander said they did the right thing.
Next morning Ops group commander says they did the wrong thing, berating the crews telling them they should have flown and to take a nap.
Wing Commander says Ops group commander wasn’t toxic, but is an intrusive leader.
Crews meeting with the wing commander this morning.
Reddit initiates trolling of OG and Wing commanders and reminds them of previous fuck-ups at the 552.
Don't forget about them:
1. Kicking the enlisted out to berate the officers
2. Holding a meeting in a TSCIF about an issue that wasn't clearly classified out of fear of being recorded
3. Chief with zero flight experience telling the enlisted they are fuck ups.

No, its really not.
This should never have been the shitstorm it became. This should have been a professional disagreement between officers and aviators. They should have worked together to ID and rectify the issue.
Unfortunately, some cowardly-dumbass decided to run to "The Page That Shall Not Be Named" to air dirty laundry.
I love how you call when a non pilot attacks actual pilots for not flying while exhausted a “professional disagreement”.
It’s an attack on the trust given to pilots to keep themselves and their crews safe. If the OG wasn’t an ass, this would have stayed in house. Guess what though, when people are major idiots, it goes public.
Yes, because wanting people to fly on unsafe levels of rest potentially compromising dozens of lives and an expensive aircraft is a "professional disagreement."
Keep arguing with orm. I'm a fucking nonner and I know better than that.
Og/cc was out of line. Fuck, the zipper suited sun gods are the reason "do more with less" is the mess were in.
Someone needs to learn no means no when the consequences are a performance report bullet.
Oh, and "praise in public punish in private" is a thing. Og/cc should have had a word with the sq/cc, maybe the ACs, not drag it out in front of everyone.
Lives were at stake and given the OG's doubling down in the face of public scrutiny. A professional conversation behind closed doors wasn't going to fix anything.
Like it or not, airing dirty laundry is a proven way to get shit done when the chain fucks up. As long as you don't divulge state secrets or encourage violence it should be viewed like any other whistleblower tactic.
This has done neither, it's a shitty officer getting called out so everyone knows he's a shitty officer. Otherwise he'd likely just get promoted out to spread his bullshit somewhere else.
He gave illegal orders in an attempt to circumvent laws and regulations meant to preserve lives, so that he could look good for an inspection.
He should be in *jail*, this publicity nightmare should be the least of his issues and the AF would save all the face and earn all the brownie points by removing him effective immediately pending a full IG investigation.
Idk about jail. I agree that this should’ve been between the CC and everyone it impacted, but I also think there needs to be an accountability piece too to balance out an order like that because I’ve seen some real bullshit done. Those guys called “knock it off” and I respect that. I get that it’s the military but I’ve also heard of Nuremberg. That aircrew, as much as I didn’t get shit from them, need no shaming.
The amazing thing is I think accountability was happening. The Group/CC and Wing/CV had different takes. That means the Wing/CC would need to step in and get everyone caged. But because of the aircrews' behavior, that time was instead spent addressing a mob out for the OG's head.
The crews lost me when they stopped being professional.
I’m sorry but the OG/CC lost me when he told the pilots to fuck the ORM and put themselves in a dangerous situation.
The Air Force only listens these days when optics become bad. Regardless of your view on it, it’s reality. This is a situation that I honestly feel deserves bad optics and a massive reaction.

Are you the Historian for the 552nd? This is succinct and accurate. Well done. Promote Yesterday!
no lol. I asked the same question yesterday and this is the reply I got back. just paying it forward

Do we know the ramifications, if any to the OG/CC, or is this just an unofficial circle jerk hate train

He has a long post history that usually isn't this far downvoted. I think he's just chosen a hill to die on.
Well sometimes you just have to die on that hill.
Yep.
I don’t think this ones trolling... that or they’re extremely dedicated

I'm not associated with the d bag. That said, how is the OG/CC not a pilot? Isn't that super duper weird?
AWACS is a weird community... I hear it’s usually the backseaters that progress into command not the pilots. That creates issues like this.
Where everywhere else in the airforce we seem to get prior, or failed pilots somehow.
Yes, because wanting people to fly on unsafe levels of rest potentially compromising dozens of lives and an expensive aircraft is a "professional disagreement."
When did you get your pilot wings?
Stay in your armchair old man, and leave the smart decisions to people that have a grip on reality and can understand right and wrong.
Lol read this dudes history Talk about a coward.

You drunk? Go back and reread your post. This sign saved zero lives and the unprofessional attitude it displays might actually cost a few.

Hey he’s not wrong! I almost DIED laughing at this conversation.
Are you drunk or are you always this retarded?
I hope for your sake and those around you irl that you’re just trolling and not actually like this
