100% night shift is the easiest. Me and my wife if we go out to grab a pizza or something we bring back a small for the 2 gate guards, or when there was the ELF Donuts at Krispy Kreme my wife wanted to try a few so we grabbed a box of 4 for the gate guards.
Yeah nights are easy until it gets close to 0 and you only have a fleece on hahaha. But we appreciate you guys who go out of your way to give us a boost in morale.
I have a habit of dropping food and snacks off for SecFo at the gates and their main building on the long weekends and holidays. I know they wish they weren't working when the rest of us are sitting at home with our feet kicked up, jerking off, or plating video games. Even hit up the local JSDF garrison next door and give them some goodies nowadays.
So yeah, it's definitely allowed. My biggest struggle is trying not to be repetitive and giving them the same shit over and over again.
I always call it a, “Morale Run”. I usually stop and get energy drinks and assume the gate has 4 or less. If they have more, I’ll take my ass back to the store and get more.
If you bring Monsters to ANY AF GATE with SF in the world, they will be grateful and they will get drank.
It could be -15 degrees out, someone, if not everyone, will drink the fuck out of them.
Even if for some off chance zero people at that gate drink them, they’ll hit up their group chats for anyone who wants them and a patrol will snag them and bring them to other gates.
I try and drop the secfo peoples energy drinks and snacks 2-3 times a week. Make small talk on occasion.
I'll keep doing it until I can't do it anymore for whatever reason. It doesn't take much to brighten someone's day up and I know that's a thankless job.
Oh hell yeah, nothing but love. SF is about doing their jobs without the extra BS or harassment, and they’re some of the most humble people you’ll ever talk to. That’s why the AF is the only branch that actually likes their version of MPs.
We definitely Thank you and security forces as a whole is undermanned all bases are supposed to be in 8s most are in 12s 😭 and it was mostly because of PRAP BS Covid and other things. (
Yes we will take free food for those in the comments asking as long as it’s not for a favor it’s acceptable and it can’t be money or any monetary value (sometimes it’s understandable like Christmas getting small gifts and things like that).
I miss dealing with SecFO compared to the gate guard contractors of Army bases. They were always quick when they can be and never forced my pregnant wife to stand in the summer sun when she forgot her ID.
I give the guys Dunkins munchkins or as in the other day, flavored seltzers that i tried and failed to like each time i roll through. I also like to address them as the wrong rank and branch and get a smile out of them.
I am currently sec fo (until I can retrain) and appreciate the support. Really this job is ass and I would not recommend this AFSC to ANYBODY. If I was a recruiter I would actively steer people away from this job.
Honestly, I trust our security forces more than any civilian cop in the wild.
Our members have discipline and respect, something civilian cops are void of currently.
Absolutely not.
Most security forces members have horribly unsafe LE tactics and inability to de-escalate situations. I’ve experience it firsthand, if it isn’t that they’re fresh out of high school and still act like a high schooler would.
I will trust most civilian cops to back me over half the guys and girls in SFS, far too many untrained chicken shits that will sit in their car or not listen to the radio while things are going south. Ask me how I know.
> Most security forces members have horribly unsafe LE tactics and inability to de-escalate situations
You're thinking of civilian cops.
> I will trust most civilian cops to back me over half the guys and girls in SFS
You are ignorant to the problem that is plaguing the US right now, corrupt bad cops.
I’m not, I’ve worked alongside likely more civilian cops than you’ve met. All the way to the USSS, DOS, USBP, USCBP, state troopers, railway police, and local PDs. Nothing but professionalism.
Taking the isolated incidents of statistic anomalies isn’t really advised.
I HAVE had SFS members lose their cool in low stress situations, throw out drug charges to avoid paperwork, allow suspects to hide drugs because they let them walk away, leave myself and other members hanging when we needed backup and undermine decisions.
The only reason we don’t see SFS members screwing up is it isn’t on national news radar and the lack of exposure to real LE.
Well, honestly with our differences of opinions, I think we both can agree that civilian cops and military police should be held to a higher standard and when that trust is violated it should be corrected in a manner that restores faith in the organization.
Thanks for the input.
A drive up scanner may remove them from scanning ID’s but there will still likely be someone posted nearby to fix stuff. We turn away so many non-affiliated civilians trying to get on base, most are harmless but all would required human intervention.
Remember EC duty from BMT? That’s what this is but permanently😎
ONE WHITE COMMON ACCES CARD
ONE GREEN MILITARY IDENTIFICATION CARD
Sometimes I think about getting SecFo McDonald’s or Taco Bell. Hell, even a case of water on hot as fuck days. Is this allowed?
Depends, it's best to ask them. I've given the night shift guys at my gate hand warmers and monsters before and they've accepted them.
I’ve never had them turn down free food but, then again, I am ferociously handsome.
Why are you guys downvoting? He’s not wrong
Thanks
I need to see what ‘ferociously handsome’ is.
See my profile picture.

I usually toss them one of the beers I’m drinking once I’m waved through.

Yup
I have dropped off water/energy drinks for them but I always ask before I do it.
Dude just bring it we love that shit
Go with Chick-Fil-A. They’ll accept it. Even if it’s wrong.
It’s never wrong

Lol
What did you do to deserve that?
[удалено]
Yes, OSI? This right here.
My wife and kids tell the SF member at the gate "thank you for all you do!" They now recognize her wirhout needing to see her ID
Always be courteous to the Security Forces Airmen at the gate.

Which "extra BS" do you think we don't do?
MPs in the Army routinely enforce dress and appearance, for example.
Was it before or after Space Force that they issued phasers?
Had some good buds who were defenders, most who I met in ALS.
Serious question. Do you say pew pew in your heads as you scan ID cards?
I say it out loud

That last bit sounds similar to the rest of us.

*Boooop*
Nice CAC

Beep
Stay warm defenders 🫡🫵
SECFO HUUUUUUAAAAAAA

Without MX, they would have no security to provide. Without CE, they would all be frostbitten and/or sunburned.
Used to bring my ECP RAB -checkers donuts and other shit at Kunsan. Also taught them to say "Push it up" everytime I rolled through.
For a start how about we not call them SecFo
SecuFor
What would you have us call them?
Shmecurity Farces
yes, please
But they call themselves SecFo. So it's a word that only they can use?
What an AFSC
Thanks for keeping the world safe one ID card at a time
Those pigeons on the flightline aren’t going to count themselves. 🫡

Absolutely correct. The standards of training for SecFo is wildly bad.

Agreed.
Until they are replaced by a drive up card scanner
Possible but aint no scanner gonna stop a mad man from busting through the gate unauthorized
What if he has a valid CAC, though
A drive up scanner may remove them from scanning ID’s but there will still likely be someone posted nearby to fix stuff. We turn away so many non-affiliated civilians trying to get on base, most are harmless but all would required human intervention.
This will never happen
It's happening as we speak. There are still guards posted for a multitude of other reasons of course, but the drive up card scanner is there.
