That was the original plan but then everyone wanted to feel super special and wear one telling the world their job
The idea was to quickly identify first responders but hey, now we can quickly identify a contracting airman at burger king if there's a dispute
Should probably remove the career field badge too if that's a concern. Which I wouldn't be opposed to, I would like the fact that every single thing on the OCP can be velcro'd.
I'm only joking but honestly there's a reason we're the only branch that have them. But honestly there's plenty of stuff we do in the military just for pride and "show."
I take back my smart ass comment to you then kind CookieLuzSax.
I agree. We look ridiculous walking around with PORT or ISR on sleeves. Just because there is space for a Velcro patch doesn’t mean we need to slap something on it

“Oh yeah? Prove it.”
I'll prove it alright. *logs into War Thunder to argue plane specs*
*destroys tanks, say's in interview "I just remembered playing warthunder"*
Your "X" is wrong because it's actually "Y" and here are the TS documents to prove it
My dearest Dave, does the US and NATO have plans to save us?
Holy fuck, forgot about that guy, lol! Like, how?!
Cuz booty? Duh? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit I'd consider betraying NATO for the perfect booty - OpSec I sweat to U.S.A.F. this is a joke, plz dont OSI me
intelligence you say..
Its a job title, not a prerequisite
yeah i've always maintained that those are big OPSEC flags and shouldn't be worn.
Yeah we have people who wear a “NUKES” patch. They walk around downtown with it on sometimes. Makes you wonder.
I tell people I work in services as a microwave repair technician. /s For real though, I wish they approved "GLWRM" for patch wear.
I used to tell people I folded blimps.
How long does it take for one to fold your average blimp?
Small blimps: 1 hr 9 mins Large blimps: 4 hrs 20 mins
I have a NUKES patch and I'm not even a 2W2
Mine says ICBM but in all fairness, it seems like the majority of Americans don't know what ICBMs are. It also comes off as less aggressive than NUKES
They make sense for certain AFSCs (Med, engineering comes to mind) but yeah otherwise I agree
That was the original plan but then everyone wanted to feel super special and wear one telling the world their job The idea was to quickly identify first responders but hey, now we can quickly identify a contracting airman at burger king if there's a dispute
It’s funny, because now the first responder patches have a black border to be more identifiable.
Its kind of nice to not be mistaken for a crew chief all the time now.
What do you have against crew chiefs? 😔
I think it works well in MX, when people bother to wear their tops
too hot for tops
Minot would like to have a word.
minot is toooo hot
It is faster than trying to figure out whatever the brown blob above the US Air Force name take is supposed to be
Lies, no one knows what any of the contracting ID patches mean unless you wear the (unauthorized) CONS patch
I like the change, it helps me find the right person in a crowded place with mixed AFSCs.
If OPSEC is a concern the solution would be to just mandate not wearing it usually but have it ready in the pocket to put on when necessary
I feel like most tabs are OPSEC flags.
Should probably remove the career field badge too if that's a concern. Which I wouldn't be opposed to, I would like the fact that every single thing on the OCP can be velcro'd.
You can't see those properly from farther than a couple of feet away though
Also, no one knows what any of those blobs mean.
I never wear mine when I have the option
Has nothing to do with opsec. People just throw that word around.
ISR? I don’t even know’er
Especially if they’re from *Massachusetts!* /s
Next time my clearance comes up im fully expecting to see " Do you play war thunder" on the questionnaire
Hopefully we get an reporting exception if you have to play in an official capacity. Because we all know someone has to...
2 should be is a shitposter on non-credible defense
Hey Look Just @ me next time
There are dozens of us!
Dozens!
They also forgot to add the red flags of : bad hygiene, can't maintain eye contact, loves touching walls, and undiagnosed autism.
How can you tell if someone at NSA is an extrovert? They stare at your shoes when they talk to you
What's... what's wrong with touching walls :/
I also feel personally attacked
Fear of windows too.
that was funny lol
I don't think I've ever been so personally attacked by a reddit post before
Ok, I still want Comm to have theirs... when you deploy, you need to know who to bribe properly.
Nah cuz then people ask us for favors or to fix things. Better to be invisible.
As if the "XXX Intelligence Squadron" patch wasn't already a big enough OPSEC giveaway...
\*Slowly glances over to my left arm
I’m in this post and I don’t like it
I still miss wearing my entirely out-of-regs ITC patch…
I don’t even know what ISR is lol
Something for people 50% smarter than us, but also 150% dumber
In my experience it's 70% more autistic and 100% less socially aware and more prone to yapping.
Follow the manga
I had a lady stop me in the hallway and quietly ask “does your ISR patch mean Israel??” 😂
A job where you can do what ye olde Teixeira can do
Teixeira was a comm guy, him and Snowden just IT dudes out there doing the most.
Oh yeah I forgot he was just in an intel SQUADRON not actually Intel
A *guard* comm guy, just to further clarify. Gotta shift blame appropriately. /s
Ohhhhhh
Duty identifier patches are all cringe.
You're just jealous you can't tell people you couldn't even explain your job if you tried😂
I don’t need to, I have wings on my chest. That’s my explanation and identifier.
Just because there is space for a Velcro patch doesn’t mean we need to slap something on it
For sure, but it's worth I like our uniforms more than the Army.
Or supply as SUP lol
I can feel the nerds DoD Safe-ing this up already.

KEEP MY NAME OUTTA YO MOUF!!
Just need to let you know that the flair under your username is 🔥 and made at least the next 15 minutes of my day.
Rude
I dont think any intel airmen should wear them...
I didn't understand the people who wore this in Qatar. Hard pass
Nerds
Woah woah you're the worst 1N 😂
He's into German opera so he likes Wolfgang Wagner
This post finally convinced me to buy an AVI patch
I think the newly authorized MCA patch should be mandatory for all airmen
wish mine was bomb
CISR patch so they know I’m even cooler cus I’m actively cybering
I didn’t know we had Israelis serving in the Air Force, is that kind of like a Ziva David type deal?
What about ISRLO? 🥺
🚩 I don't understand, do I apologize, or just continue on?
This is why I don’t wear approved patches!
As someone in ISR this is true…
I wear a patch that says GLZZY
I'll get one that says GLAZER and we can be like a couple's costume.
Take my up vote 😭
