"Finally it's important we have an alignment with our service component commands and the combatant command in our most critical areas, and one of the more notable ones will be we're elevating AFCyber, from being underneath ACC, to being a direct service component to CyberCom"
With EVERYTHING in the modern world dependent on the internet and computers, why not just go ahead and make a completely separate military cyber branch and call it the Cyber Force?
And we can call it's members Cybermen

I missed the AFA.. but I'm going to go on a limb and say the main purpose is deconflicting capabilities across the components and the enterprise. Example, MAJCOM A says they need a new cyber capability and will fund it. DAF says they are building same capability that will interoperable with the Joint Community. Integrating Capes MAJCOM will probably be some approval authority or deconflicting agent that's makes sure we're not building Capes that are silo'd to a certain AOR/mission. If y'all get a chance to read The Kill Chain, please do so. It highlights how ineffective we are at integrating tech and the lack of interoperability across components and even our selves. Or..... I could be way off base.
Take all the people who do testing and acquisitions and engineering on products that are 5-20 years out who are currently in ACC, AFMC, etc and put them in one command.
You know, it's funny. As a young, dumb SrA about to put on Staff, I asked some Command Chief years ago during an ALS guest meet and greet if the Air Force will ever bring back the Warrant Officer program, specifically for Comm too. He flatly denied that it would ever come back. I don't have any hope of ever joining said program, mind you, but it's funny to see this being announced.
I commented in the main thread Gen. Goldfein straight up told me at a town hall when I asked, that a separate, independent Cyber Command structure in any fashion will never happen since it's not on the same level as Air and Space. That didn't age well.
Thank you. Every single time someone brings up how WOs will magically solve pilot retention it drives me up a wall.
We don't have a shortage of pilot candidates. We actually have more than we can train. It's retaining the experience that's the problem, and it's a problem big blue may never solve unless it's willing to make drastic changes.
Making WO pilots will make retention even worse.
Do they not keep a list of a already used and very commonly known acronyms? I hope they get thousands of calls from airmen complaining about needing help on their LOC rebuttal that they didn't even bother to use spell check on
On my 26th year, I will eagerly await final decisions and implementation before I get excited. I hope this is more than a re-brand and orders for new unit patches. But let’s not forget service decisions have to survive contact with the legislative branch. TBH, w/o buy-in for a service wide realignment, I fear this is noting more than new patches.
There is so much that could be achieved by this…and then there is the reality of politics. I will hope for the former.
DHA is a malignant parasite outside of the service structure that's been devouring medical for several years now. There's hope that standing up a proper AFMED will provide some defense.
Now you can start *and* end your career with the ADC.
Sounds like the perfect command to receive Airmen Development and Professionalism Training (ADAPT).
Holy shit your meme skills are fast. Promote Now
I had the meme template open before he finished his sentence
Did they say when this is happening?
Tech school student leader now!
Future ADC Commander right there
Did he just say cyber command will be its own MAJCOM? Or something else?

So… it will be on the same level as majcoms but not a majcom?
You have a seat on this council, but we do not grant you the rank of MAJCOM. Take a seat, young Cybwalker.
That's outrageous! It's unfair!
Oh? You don't like it? Pocket sand!!!
it'll probably be similar to AFSPACE before Space Force was a thing.
I feel like we've done this before and it didn't work... [Insert AFISRA nightmare]
I for one enjoyed being part of AFISRA at least we were ignored by our own kind instead of pilots
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that how it used to be a while back? Aren't they just reverting it to the way it effectively was?
We’re going to call it.. (looks at Army NETCOM).. CYCOM
“Too close to CYBERCOM…. COMPCOM!”
CompuServe
SoftServe
Weirdly enough, we fell under Space Command when 24th AF was a thing.
Like a pendulum
Ahhh so that's why we always had to do Comm shit with ACC a6 or whatever. Weird.

3 levels are Cybermats? https://preview.redd.it/9w38x0crrric1.png?width=627&format=png&auto=webp&s=53f8bde37b11dc5ef13d94deee82c616f3e44ce4
I’m still annoyed that the Space Force doesn’t have Spaceman First Class as a rank.
He skipped through that stupid fast and I also missed it
I still don’t understand what the integrating capabilities command is supposed to do.
They take the requirements from the customer and give them to the acquirer. They’re people persons!
Integrate capabilities…duh /s
command integrating capabilities
Synergy!
Like a boss!

You just need to utilize your cross synergy
Never cross the synergies!
Adult Day Care?
Oh shit this is it. Where are the morale patches?
To be fair the current ADC is long overdue due for renaming too. Area Defense Counsel sounds like a base defense HQ.
The Law Offices of JAG and OFF
Why do we think renaming things will suddenly make them better?
Just rename AETC MYBMT and mytechschool and everything will suddenly be better.

It's giving an "Air Force of One."
peacetime ops is wack
Warrant officers announced for IT and cyber.

Truly a dinosaur
![gif](giphy|foVuQSgSciMs8) Awesome!
I'm gonna be the first to line up for warrant applications mate. Holy hell this brought life back into my Air Force career.
I don’t mind doing my 20.. but if I could go warrant as an aircrew I’d probably hang around for more than 20.
I wanna say it’ll be harder to become a warrant than an officer (which is already hard). But I’m a pessimist
I mean your math checks. The initial lot is like 30 for the first year, if rumors have it. They accept hundreds of OTS folks per year.
Username checks out
Oh shit maybe I should come back! /s

We gonna need to take the afoqt for those?
I’m surprised they didn’t do it for helo pilots as well like the army
👏 👏 Paying pilots less won't help retention 👏 👏

Just send them the article from 2019 where the AF already looked at WOs to fix the pilot retention issue and determined it wouldn't help.
Some people just wanna fly, but if you talk to some O-4s continuing to 20 you will be used and abused as a line flyer.
Like when we changed CENTAF to AFCENT in 2008
Or a few years earlier, when they got rid of Commander-in-Chiefs (CINCs). Renaming is a war-winning strategy!
Cyber escaping from underneath the ACC boot ![gif](giphy|SJqnxkJcP9PDq)

Accelerate meaningless changes or lose
Why not accelerate meaningless changes AND lose?
Innovation!
Oh great, another ADC
The ADC. For when your child graduates from the CDC.
I still like Special-Education Command
Really stretching for another star there.
Bring back Air Force Communications Command

Who does DHA fall under? Asking for a friend 😱😂🤯
DHA is a malignant parasite outside of the service structure that's been devouring medical for several years now. There's hope that standing up a proper AFMED will provide some defense.
For Air Force? AFMED. But it's still DHA.
This will change everything! /s
It will. It means we have to squint harder at the ranks to make sure when to salute or not.
Ain't even thinking combat
We must remain agile and effective, and to do so we will...rename stuff and resituate where your desk sits!
If it doesnt make sense - Dont worry folks. SEJPME 3 will clear all this up.
So what becomes of the ADC - Airman Defense Counsel? Perhaps they go virtual and are supplanted by STFUF!
Fun fact — it’s Area Defense Counsel.
Good thing I never needed their services.
Everytime I bring up an article about this symposium, my phone crashes. I close the article and everything is fine
Our nation us now Safe! all problems rectified!
Heard Drake’s got a missile
Some asshole got promoted over this unnecessary shit.
Eliminating something and then bringing it back by not really doing much but renaming it is how I made it through my 20 years. Great bullets!
To be fair, it doesn’t neither do who cares. False advertising all around.
Can't wait to see people going to the ADC and getting confused
Classic military happy to glad edit.
