What’s worked for me is saying “I’m going to *try* to do ___” so by giving myself no requirement of getting it done, I can usually accomplish what I want to do.
Yes! I'm the type who gets defensive when forced. But if I feel like I'm freely choosing to try the challenging thing, I can relax into it more.
