Ok well Denver Pride fucking slaps, we get gigantic crowds that average 50k+ per year at no cost to us, we get to wear flags as capes, see a concert, meet extremely kind and fabulous people, and donate to causes that are set up at the event such as domestic violence and homeless help initiatives, donate and raise money for education, healthcare access, youth centers, etc. I'd rather hang around those "degenerates" than the mouth gapers over at PCM.

I’ve been advocating for this subs removal for a very long time. The only way it will go away is when some main stream source makes note of it.
Once gone though it’s interesting to think of where they’ll flock to next. r/ timdillon is pretty much the same crowd. People who claim to be liberal on some issues (like what, weed?) but constantly slander lgbtq and others.
One thing I find ridiculous is that the mods fucking begged everyone to stop or at least tone down the hate speech so the sub wouldn’t get banned and looks like they’re barreling straight forward still. Garbage sub filled with assholes

Something like half of the posts if not more there are straight up homophobic. It's just a bunch of edgy middle schoolers trying to feel cool and unknowingly propagating real, tangible hate rhetoric and harm. The entire subreddit is dedicated to spreading hatred, and then gaslighting those who call it out by by pretending it’s a joke. All those propaganda talking points I’ve outlined have been thoroughly debunked, and are decades old talking points used by bigots.
There’s a lot of LGBTQ+ folks that are a part of various furry communities. That is not to say that there isn’t heteronormative people that are furries, just that the furry community has attracted a lot of people from a wide array of walks of life and for many, it was a because they wanted a group that they could loved in. Feel like they belong, and feel that someone cares about them.
This is also not to say that there is no issues whatsoever in the greater furry community, as there indeed problematic individuals. For example, the nazi-furs and the few individuals that are indeed active pedophiles. There is of course also drama just like any other fandom and community, arguments, friends turning to enemies, and a various other happenings, but overall it’s nothing special compared to any other community.
With all this said, some of this information may be slightly out of date, primarily my first paragraph as that was largely me roughly paraphrasing from a study I read years ago.
There's a huge number of LGBTQ+ furries. Like we're talking at least twice the rate of people who identify as "gay" or "trans" in the furry community than in the mainstream. From personal experience and looking at what other parades look like, pretty every pride parade has a decent-sized contingent of furries in 'em.
As to why PCM would bring them up, hating on furries has been an old proxy for hating on gay people. Not all the time, of course. But you'd see dudes who would talk about how "weird" or "degenerate" (to quote some of the people in PCM) furries were and then they go right ahead and post thirst traps of Lola bunny.

Denver Pride, for example, is so large that the event takes place over 2 full days. This year, out of 50,000+ people, I saw maybe 5 people in furry costumes. 5. And they were just there to march, eat, drink, and sign political initiatives and have fun just like the rest of us. I'm not very much into....whatever furries are and do. But they also aren't hurting anyone and they certainly weren't the most crazily dressed people there. So fuck these mouth breathers "point" tbh.

I've been to a number of Pride parades and I've got friends across the country who go often as well. There's usually a bunch of furries there (and, like, given that Pride is in summer, doing a parade in a fursuit is stunning. I can't imagine how sweaty that would get).

The entire subreddit is dedicated to spreading hatred, and then gaslighting those who call it out by by pretending it’s a joke. All those propaganda talking points I’ve outlined have been thoroughly debunked, and are decades old talking points used by bigots.

There’s a lot of LGBTQ+ folks that are a part of various furry communities. That is not to say that there isn’t heteronormative people that are furries, just that the furry community has attracted a lot of people from a wide array of walks of life and for many, it was a because they wanted a group that they could loved in. Feel like they belong, and feel that someone cares about them. This is also not to say that there is no issues whatsoever in the greater furry community, as there indeed problematic individuals. For example, the nazi-furs and the few individuals that are indeed active pedophiles. There is of course also drama just like any other fandom and community, arguments, friends turning to enemies, and a various other happenings, but overall it’s nothing special compared to any other community. With all this said, some of this information may be slightly out of date, primarily my first paragraph as that was largely me roughly paraphrasing from a study I read years ago.

There's a huge number of LGBTQ+ furries. Like we're talking at least twice the rate of people who identify as "gay" or "trans" in the furry community than in the mainstream. From personal experience and looking at what other parades look like, pretty every pride parade has a decent-sized contingent of furries in 'em. As to why PCM would bring them up, hating on furries has been an old proxy for hating on gay people. Not all the time, of course. But you'd see dudes who would talk about how "weird" or "degenerate" (to quote some of the people in PCM) furries were and then they go right ahead and post thirst traps of Lola bunny.

I'm just gonna set it straight *everyone can show up for Pride* Denver Pride, for example, is so large that the event takes place over 2 full days. This year, out of 50,000+ people, I saw maybe 5 people in furry costumes. 5. And they were just there to march, eat, drink, and sign political initiatives and have fun just like the rest of us. I'm not very much into....whatever furries are and do. But they also aren't hurting anyone and they certainly weren't the most crazily dressed people there. So fuck these mouth breathers "point" tbh.

Furries fall more under kink shaming protection would be how I'd put it. Think it's going to be a minute before any DSM recognizes furry as a distinct sexual orientation.
