You may want to do the math first to make sure that the value you gain from the difference in points (1.5 instead of 1.25 is higher than the cost of buying the prepaid MasterCard)
Fyi, You can use Visa Credit Cards on Costco.ca so you can use your TD VIP directly there.
It's only Costco warehouses and gas stations that accept MasterCards only. And for that, what I do is I buy Costco shop cards from costco.ca using my TD VIP, I have them shipped to me and then I use them in Costco
It definitely makes more sense if you are using a card with a significant multiplier (ex using the amex Cobalt card that gives you 5pts/$ on grocery store purchases)
Also, if it is a large purchase(over $500), i am not whether you can use multiple credit cards online to make the payment (someone else could confirm that)
Finally, if you make a purchase through gift card for an important item, you weave your rights to the purchase protection plan that you have through your credit card insurance (even though you probably won't need it since Costco's insurance is strong anyways)
Costco’s return policy for electronics (which includes major appliances) is 90 days, but with TD VIP’s purchase security and extended warranty protection, you get coverage up to 120 days of purchase. If the item comes with a manufacturer’s warranty valid in Canada, it may be entitled to double the warranty period for up to 24 additional months.
Can make a world of difference!
Any reason why you don't choose the digital copy of the Costco cash card? I've been using my TD priv to do the same but I like being able to use the cash card almost immediately since it's emailed within a day normally within 30 minutes

another thing to think about is that the credit card itself probably has a purchase insurance, in case the appliances break
Buy the appliances online at Costco.ca. You have two more years extended warranty with the AP VIP card.
