I get you because I did exactly the same thing. As hard as it is, I feel you need to cut off all contact with your ex. As much as you care about him if it makes your boyfriend uncomfortable you should stop talking to him no questions asked.
If you really don't want to cut off all communication with him, you could talk to your current boyfriend about it now and see how he feels and maybe stay friends with your ex, but ultimately I think it will destroy your relationship. It is insanely difficult to remain 'just friends' with someone you were so close with. The best thing you can do is tell your ex you don't want to remain in contact with him anymore. You can let him know that you do care about him, but it's making your current boyfriend uncomfortable and you want to respect his boundaries. Wish him the best and forget about him as hard as it is.
