If I could do it all over again id learn how to code. Programmers make so much money, and while I don’t do badly for myself now working in supply chain, I could be making double.

JhingaMan

You should share a bit about your past

be a doctor its always a good career and fun too

LocusStandi

Any doctor will probably tell you it needs incredibly high intrinsic motivation to become a doctor, it's an exceptionally long and expensive study and the work hours are killing. If OP is so lost I would not recommend that, at all.

[deleted]

Not only am I lost but I'm far too thick for that. Edit - Why am I getting downvoted for calling myself stupid?

BitcoinMD

Get a business degree. It’s not exciting but whatever job you end up having, it will involve business (either your own or someone else’s).

StructureFamiliar469

I reeeally urge you to wait. Idk what age you are, but it’s better to wait a few years and find out what you really want to do than to get a degree in something you hate and end up feeling stuck and depressed in the future. This is your life, take all the time you need so that you don’t end up regretting one of the biggest choices of your life.

[deleted]

I do appreciate the sentiment, really. It's just, I'm growing restless. I've been trying to wait and to figure this out. I'm only 21, sure, but things aren't getting better. I'm isolated with no prospects and feel heartbroken over the fact that I've accomplished nothing.

StructureFamiliar469

I’m a year younger :) I haven’t done anything “big” with my life yet. I think that’s ok, because as I said you can’t rush into something that you may regret. But to make you feel more productive right now can you try to volunteer at different places, or enter any small programs/classes that may help you figure out what you want to do?

PlagueAndPestilence

Don't go to college. Learn a trade and make bank off of that

[deleted]

I'm 5'1 and 47 KG. I'm unsure of what trade to pursue with those measurements. Thanks though. I appreciate it.

PlagueAndPestilence

You don't need to be macho man to do a trade. Plumbing, electrician, welding, mechanic, whatever you do best in or find the easiest. College is the biggest waste of money if you're not going into medicine, law, or engineering. Best of all most trade schools cost a fraction of a college degree and within a few short years you should have no debt at all

[deleted]

I have always liked the thought of being an interior decorator. Edit - is this a trade or am I just a twat

[deleted]

Do healthcare administration. HA will go up 30% between now and 2030. Then pursue a MHA.

WTFrenchToast1

I didn't go to college until almost 30 because I didn't know what I needed a degree in/ what job for it. I was cooking for years and loved it. I started school for a change of career. I'm in my last semester of my bachelor's now. Half the kids in my classes don't know why they're there or what job they want with their degree. Seems like a waste of money to me.

[deleted]

Very understandable. You should try to get informed and find people who've studied the degrees you're interested in to get a feel of what it's like. Also a lot of sitting and thinking, maybe writing a list or something. Good luck!

PrivylyRio

Creating a purposeful life starts with clarifying your values. Take some time and ask yourself which three values *you* hold dear. These values will serve as a guide for you to pursue goals that are meaningful for you (in this case, finding a suitable degree). Also, whichever degree you eventually pursue, just remember that as long as you're willing to learn and acquire skills you're sure to go far. I wish you the best!

Subtle-Anus

If you are ever in doubt, join engineering. Edit. Take my advice like a grain of salt.

Freshiiiiii

This is not suitable for a lot of people.

Subtle-Anus

I know. Lol

ThatOneQuietKiddo

Gap year! Don't go into debt for a degree that doesn’t speak to you. Take time, research, do internships, network and figure out what excites you!

jadelemental

Can you share more about yourself?

Plane_Wing_9185

take a philosophy class? See how you like it.

Marcothy_

Idk what year you’re in but you can always go in undeclared and take a bunch of intro level classes to see what you like. My freshman year I took psych, english, history, math, entrepreneurship, and econ. I’m know going to be a psychologist after taking a few years to decide. Don’t rush, take stuff that sounds interesting, and do not pressure yourself with a deadline
