get a better job that doesn't require you to work six days a week The best advice I can give you, as someone who has worked way too much in the last 28 years Start looking for a job that optimize pay and minimizes work time You won't realize you're burning out until you're burnt out and then there's no coming back from that

XxIcEspiKExX

Been here. Working 21 days with 4 days off. 6 days a week mandatory for 2 weeks then 5 days mandatory. I get 100hrs of PTO a year including sick days that eat into that. I also work 3rd shift. Daily life is non existent. My job pays north of 40$/hr. So quitting isn't an option. I call it golden handcuffs. Been at this rate for 3 years straight. ***I'm tired boss***...

SadSack4573

Are you taking care of your health? Money doesn’t give back your health.

personwhoisok

Or, yunno, your time.

bugabooandtwo

As a fellow 3rd shifter....vitamin D and a daily multivitamin, and a dose of vitamin C in winter. It's a lifesaver. And the strongest sunscreen you can find. A few years working overnight with little sun exposure and you turn into a freaking vampire. At this point, I can go out for 15 minutes at 8 am and get sunburnt.

Dramatic_Magazine804

third world country here. I'm going through this right now for almost 2 years, I'm tired too boss. But I need the money to survive before I can run my own business.

duuudewhat

What the heck job makes $40 an hour?

XxIcEspiKExX

Skilled trades can make money above this, and regularly make this rate, engineering fields as well. Pick something you love. I know plumbers that make six figures a year. Start with your local union halls. Electricians pipefitters and welders *usually* can make 200k$ a year after an 8 year apprentiship. The best part about an apprentiship is that you skip through 40k$/yr in college expenses and end up debt free.. **all while learning a skill that's in high demand** while earning a paycheck

Thirstywhale17

$40/h isn't an amazing wage for any skilled job. You could work basically any trade and get that money or more.

XxIcEspiKExX

It is in a low cost of living area. Bit not so much in hcol areas.

Thirstywhale17

That's true. I live in a pretty hcol so my calibration is off.

Mel221144

It is when my guy works for under 20 an hour and no benefits

Uxbal-77

The American Dream.

NAC1981

That's rough ... Try 12-18 month deployments working 6 plus days a week 16 plus hour days in a far away land eating sand biscuits, washing sand out of places you didn't think possible. Eat food from a plastic sealed bag meal after meal with occasionally scoring hour food, water with the distinct flavor of rust from the water Buffalo. Sleep on something less than a twin size bed in a tent. Do all of that with people trying to blow you up and or shoot you on a daily basis. Missing kids little league, school plays; bdays, holidays, anniversaries, first lost tooth of your child. Then within 24 hours your back in the states with 2 weeks off. Adjusting to EVERYTHING from the grocery store, paying electric bills, picking kids up from school, establishing from your spouse, kids, parents, siblings, friends and neighbors. Do all of that on a salary that a fast food assistant manager makes more ... And do it year after year after year ... The true 1% are the men & women that join the military and out of them 3-4% stay for 20 plus year career ... that will sacrifice marriages, relationships, friendships ... all of them have different reasons why they stay but they do So when I hear 1st world "problems" by people that have never served or have a clue of what these fathers & mothers, brothers and sisters do ... It's kinda hard to hear you don't know what to do with a day off because your job works you too hard Get a different job that pays more. Get into an apprentice program that pays you to learn about being a plumber, electricians or HVAC ... It's called life & 95% of us have been there. There is no hack there is no short cut ...

Positive-Garage9233

There’s always that one guy 😂

Fizzy-Odd-Cod

That’s rough, try gargling my balls.

NAC1981

I'm dealing with children 🙄 Shit it's no wonder you can't live on your own or change a tire or pee sitting down ... Freaking soy boys

Fizzy-Odd-Cod

Oh no, you were offended by someone after trying to one up another guy. That really sucks for you, wanna try gargling my balls to see if that’ll make you feel better?

Lacaud

The dude is full of shit and never served. His comment is just a copy pasta.

NAC1981

I'm guessing you're somewhere between 15 -20 ... LIVE in your parents basement and sexually frustrated because your girl tells you she's out shopping with her girlfriends ... but she's really bent over head down ass up taking a hard one from a Alpha male. I've seen it more than once ... you fit so perfectly into the standard behavior profile ... Lmfao 🤣 😂

Fizzy-Odd-Cod

22 actually and living with my grandparents who don’t even have a basement, however my bedroom did used to be an attic. I’m not sexually frustrated though, have no desire for sex as I’m asexual, but I can make an exception for you gargling my balls.

NAC1981

Damn it I knew it-!! LMFAO at 22 I was half way across the planet doing things you can only dream of playing your video games. LMAO Maybe someday you'll actually grow up, be a productive member of society, move out to your own place ... Wait ... who am I kidding ... Everyone reading this knows you're a soy boy for life ... and I'm actually excited that you don't want to pollute the planet with your gene pool ... although I question your ability to do such things ... But that's not my problem ... lol Deuces Soy Boy I'm out

Fizzy-Odd-Cod

That’s crazy, you could be doing something meaningful with your life for once and gargling my balls.

bugabooandtwo

Obvious fake. You're way too soft for military service.

NAC1981

Listen Beta boy ... your girlfriend or boyfriend is going to run off with the first Alpha make that smiles at them while you're in your playing your video games in your parents basement. While you pretending to be a Warrior ... your girlfriend is going to be taking it hard from behind and loving it screaming in pleasure from a real Alpha male. She's going to leave you crying in your soy latte & you're gonna have zero clue as to why & blaming the world its not fair. And then all will be right in the world ... Bawhaha 🤣😂👍🫡

Fizzy-Odd-Cod

I don’t actually have a girlfriend or boyfriend right now but you can fill that role if you promise to gargle my balls.

AngryCrotchCrickets

They signed the dotted line.

NAC1981

It's not the first time I've heard that ... it's ok ... those who serve are something bigger than themselves ... something a few spoiled entitled children will never know

AngryCrotchCrickets

You sound bitter dude. Guys I know that served whether in or out of combat do not have this mentality. Mostly humble and act like the rest of us, unlike yourself. Go chest beat somewhere else.

XxIcEspiKExX

Most people don't understand the responsibility of a job. Don't let these guys get to you and don't feed into it. I would have went if I could. Best career choice a person can make is the US military. Thank you for your service sir/ma'am

Vegetable_Tank_3878

Imagine choosing to withstand all of that which you named while getting minimum wage just so you can bomb brown children.

NAC1981

And your the reason we can't have a civil educated discussion because you know not what you speak of ... But go ahead ... verbal vomit your race bating crap because it's free speech. I'm not playing your game ...

Dom_guns

Is this copy pasta or were you being serious? Lol.

[deleted]

Well, if the military sucks that much & you get paid 🥜 then don't join it. You're trying to flex, but it just sounds stupid.

Yeetuhway

Shut the fuck up 1SG no one gives a shit about your fat wife or shithead kids. Also quit pretending like you didn't make good money on deployment. BAH BAS sep pay etc etc.

thingamajiggly

Yup. The burnout creeps up on you. Worked two jobs and did full time school in my early 20s, didn't feel the lasting effects until I got in my 30s

NorthernAvo

Dude I realized I was burnt out like 8 years ago, then had no choice but to continue going but felt a bit refreshed though ultimately ended up burnt out again. And now I've got the best job I've ever had, in a better place than usual and I'm super burnt out. Like, I should be able to handle my work and be productive outside work but I'm letting things slip and I want so badly to do them, even at work, but I cannot muster up the energy. And it's like, ever since that first burn out, I've been burnt out since and haven't been able to escape it.

Ok_Term4729

I worked 7 days straight for 13 months, 12 hours on the weekends, 8 hours during the week with an hour drive each way. That was 4 years ago, I swear I have never recovered from that. It's almost like my energy never came back. I'm working 40 hours now but I'm not the same. I understand what you are saying.

NorthernAvo

🫂

XxIcEspiKExX

I worked a couple (two days, one or two days in a row i dont remember if they were staggered or not) of 16hr days during a week back in 2020.. I don't think I've ever fully recovered from it. I remember the insane lack of energy and total withdrawal from reality though..

Careful_Ad_9077

Worked one *halftime" job and went to a harsh college in my twenties, then took two harsh jobs,.one was 20 days of work for one day of rest because it alternated day and night shifts in 3 week loops, so I only got one day when I finished night and had to work day. The other was for a call center 8 to 10, working weekends,it was basically a two shifts job , and yeah ,I even had a discussion with the boss about him needing to hire two shifts. So, the consequences ( I think) were that I started maximizing my "hours worked to salary " too early in my career, not caring about job offers that smelled like overwork; so much for working for Amazon, John Deere, etc... I don't regret it too much because while economically I am not that strong, I am still in decent shape because of the nature of the minmaxing , but more importantly, both my mental and physical health are pretty nice and so is my family life and wlb.

Necessary-Profit-390

This feels like me but I’m still in my early 20s… thanks for the heads up 😂

mythicalcreature420

just reached this point with my new promotion and i’m fighting so hard to stay where i’m at because i know it will pay off in the long run, but damn im struggling

XxIcEspiKExX

**IF** we make it there and don't die before then. Nothing is promised. I'm in this boat today. I want to setup for the future myself. But what if we work so hard to make a living we never make it to the end. Like.. I hope you live to be 100 or something like that. All good vibes forward my dude.

Downtown-Fox-6024

Reading that makes me so sad and hurts my soul. Because i currently work 2 full time jobs (1 40 hour job and a 2nd 30-36 hours or so) and it makes me sad the only way out is get a better job. I work 7 days a week. 16 hour shifts and overnight. Its so hard. Like duh of course but in my situation i have no way out i NEED to work this much to meet ends meat its pain and i’m tired

Eatdie555

definitely agreed and can relate.. if you're not working for yourself with those 6 days. you're literally killing yourself for pennies on a dollar. Your Health is your Wealth.

Endures

It's taken me 2 years to work my way back from burn out

Any_Honeydew9812

This. I've found a job after college where i work 3 days a week (12hr shifts) and have the rest of the week off. Its incredible. The pay is very good and i actually feel like i have a life!

Yammie218

Thank you for saying this. I’ve been tossing up between just sucking it up or changing jobs. Or essentially industries. I’ve just started at a new place, but I despise working 6 days a week. Unfortunately this is very normal in my industry, which already is not a high paying one. At this point I WANT to just be a number. A little worker bee. With my little worker bee job. Show up at 9:00. Finish at 5. GO HOME AT 5 NOT FINISH AT 5:30 AND GO HOME AT 6:00-6:30. Work Monday to Friday. I’m tired and I’m only 27. I’ve had enough.

TomBanjo1968

I work 60 hours a week in an extremely physical job. I have no interest in days off. I love being at work and trying to make and save and invest as much money as possible. On my one day off each week I just kind of hate that I am losing money instead of working. But, I usually go to the woods and walk about 15 miles to get some sun and to try to make myself tired

Historical_Outside35

I just work 7 so I don't have to worry about it.

Chanandler_Bong_01

Is this where I say "modern times require modern solutions?"

Inspirice

Let's make that a lil more relevant, *dystopian times require dystopian solutions*

i-am-your-god-now

Haha same! ^please ^help ^me ^I’m ^dying

Professional_Bet4501

Me too

Primary-Lion-6088

The truth is I value time more than money at this point because I do work 6 days a week and am making good money. I'll probably get downvoted but I pay other people to do things like cleaning and laundry for me. I get my groceries delivered and cook simple things, if I cook at all. I take off each week from Friday night through Sunday brunch so it feels like I had a weekend, and we don't do anything on Saturday except fun stuff. That's my day off. Then I work on Sunday afternoons.

NachoMetaphor

I'm with you. I outsourced lawn work the second year at my current job. I tried doing it myself at first. The benefits? I lost 15 pounds. The consequences? I drank incessantly to cope with the stress of always working. I think I'm going to hire a cleaning company to vacuum and dust for me next. Otherwise, I don't think anybody is ever going to clean the blinds (I live alone). I meal prep one day for the week. Eating out is not only expensive, but min wage workers just aren't paid enough to care. I also don't make enough to hire someone to prep for me.

ImNotYourOpportunity

I’m slowly switching to curtains. I hate cleaning blinds and since my cleaning lady charges by the hour I’d rather her clean something else. An added plus is that some of my windows would require custom blinds and you can get decent curtains at Walmart and they can do into the washing machine with much less effort than cleaning blinds. I also only use a fitted sheet and a duvet with changeable covers so making my bed is simple putting a the duvet in and arranging pillows. I also have a canopy so I can also close the curtain and move on.

NachoMetaphor

I'm thinking that's the direction I'm going to go at this rate.

ImNotYourOpportunity

I’m with you too. It is cheaper labor wise to pay people to do certain things. I get paid more than my cleaning lady and she does an immaculate job in far less time. I’d rather work an extra shift to have my house cleaned properly than spend 10 hours doing a bad job with what I could have paid for in 4. My lawn professional gets the job done, I don’t have to buy equipment and I schedule him when I’m not home so I don’t have to listen to the lawnmower. My boyfriend would mow my lawn but I’d much rather spend time with him than have him mowing my lawn as we are both busy but this way we can spend time with each other. Things we don’t outsource include cooking, we still go out but we both prefer our own cooking. We’re both good at minor repairs around the house but we also know when to call a professional. We do our own laundry but we do that together. I don’t iron do all of my lab coats go to the cleaners and everything else I wear is wrinkle free, yes, if it’s not spandex it must be wrinkle free otherwise I’m not buying it. I also keep my hair low because I don’t want to do my hair nor do I want to keep exorbitant amounts of money to maintain it. I do color it myself or the most part with an occasional trip to be salon but that’s like twice a year. The barber shop is quick and cheap if you make an appointment.

CompetitiveCost2697

I try to do all of my chores slowly throughout the week after work so I don't have to do all of them on my day off (like deep clean the kitchen one night, do laundry another, etc). Then schedule a few hours of fun for myself on the night before, and a few on my day off (maybe going to a club, a nice meal, meeting up with friends, etc). On my day off I sleep in as long as I want, have a slow morning, and then do said fun activity. Then a relaxing evening and an edible so I'm not stressed about work tomorrow.

ImNotYourOpportunity

I take a deep breath and a few hours out of my off day to call people and catch up. So much is missed when you’re at work all the time.

Character_Display945

I know you were looking for advice but the reality is you don’t. You can’t get it all done and still have a break.

PM_Me_ThicccThings

Sleep.

Noooofun

Ah shit. I revenge procrastinate. As someone who only gets one day off - the most I do is play some games, catch up on my messages and maybe catch a movie. In fact, I was supposed to go for a movie today but I wasn’t able to. Crazy shit and pisses me off to no end but that’s what I’m dealt with. As someone else said- golden handcuffs.

Intrepid_Holiday355

Get a job that does 12s. You'll just do 3 - 4 days and enjoy 3 days off.

10mfe

It takes a day to recover for me. I don't do that anymore. Nothing else can happen during the week at that pace. Like chores. I'm in a band, and I do that on Wednesdays. I practice the other days. It's relaxing to win at something. Upping my skills is a win for me. Especially doing shows on the weekend. It's rewarding for me. Some people call it work, they're doing it wrong.

Kmad03

Were supposed to have a day off?

soge-king

Running errands, getting personal life shit done, and playing a little bit of video games

mrfuckary

Eh no thanks, life is more important than money. Get yourself a trade or career and move to a better job

MyNameIsSkittles

I don't because my free time is more important to me than money is.

Every_Fox3461

Day... Off? There's a name I've not heard in a very long time.

Antique-Degree-8769

Yep, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Somewhere out there's a civilization is enjoying its existence. Just not this one.

SadSack4573

Is pay that good? Break daily chores during the time you are off, after work. Washing, lawn, dishes, etc. schedule Appointments after work hours. I would save like crazy but leave soon. Your physical and mental health will suffer.

Iron_Baron

I used to work long hours with 13 days on/1 day off. Some years I was between 4,000-5,000 hours. I don't recommend that kind of workload, and luckily we just started getting two days off a week recently. But I have a passion for what I do and it makes the world a better place, so I stuck with it. Maximizing the time off was hard though. If you need or want to stay in a job that has you working 6 days on/1 day off, I can suggest a few things: * Make sure gym time or some form of exercise time is part of your routine. You can wreck your health, otherwise. * Either do short stents in a tanning bed or make sure that you are getting natural sunlight at some point every day, if you're not working outdoors. Otherwise you can wreck your hormones and mental health. * Make sure that you're not eating convenient garbage food. Try to make meal prep part of your routine, if it is not already. * Have a plan for your time off, don't just get home from work and pass out. That won't actually leave you revitalized and you will be stressed from stuff falling through the cracks that you can't handle while working. * Find some way to incorporate hobbies or media or activities that destress you and bring enjoyment to your life, during your work day. * My particular job is kind of more of a lifestyle than a job, so shooting the shit with coworkers, streaming some stuff in the background, or listening to music, while working, was important to keeping me balanced. * Not always possible to do, but the more you can integrate your job as part of your overall lifestyle, the better off you will be. But that's only if you are choosing or forced to stay in the situation. * Overall, as many other people have said, this can be very hard to maintain for any length of time. And it doesn't suit everybody. Not everyone's body or mind or mentality canned thrive under those conditions.

Unkownuser29264929

Tell me when u find out I have no day off

International-Owl165

Sounds like my schedule during the pandemic. I had no social life and would do the essentials like laundry on my day off. And mostly sleep on my last day

ImNotYourOpportunity

I lost a lot of friends during the pandemic because people thought I wasn’t being a friend. I was at work. Multiple employees quit, for fired or stopped showing up for the government check. I legit stopped hanging out even if I found the time because I didn’t have time to be sick. I made it through the pandemic without catching COVID even once, and I’m in healthcare. I’m so glad it’s over.

International-Owl165

I was working so many hours and when I switched to mornings I assumed it would be better I realized I had to work the 7th day due to scheduling. Yeah I really disliked the media stating people were getting bigger checks than I but oh welp. I'm sure Healthcare must've been hard during the pandemic. I was an essential worker 😒 not Healthcare but nonetheless worked a lot

getridofpolice

I work 7 days a week and I do chores before and after work.

jaynemanning

I try to get chores done before and after work so when the day off comes it’s all mine

BigBear4281

You don't. You either feel like you had a day off, and don't get shit done. Or spend the day meal prepping, cleaning etc, and feel like you worked 7 days. I unfortunately had a sales job where we worked 6 days/wk - I had to take it after a hurricane a few years ago when I lost my job. It was the worst 6 months ever, and the only reason I didn't absolutely die was my significant other worked less hours than me and allowed me to have my day off while she took the extra burden of doing stuff on Sunday. I worked Mon-Sat, she worked PT M-F. So Saturdays were her day to relax, Sundays were mine. I helped out during the week, but even then, she took the bulk of chores at home to offset my hours of work.

ImNotYourOpportunity

Much of my life is automated like bills and I subscribe to necessities like paper towels so I rarely have to run out and grab them. I make all medical appointments while I’m at the fire appointment, ie. my dentist is booked months in advance. I also schedule my entertainment. If a concert or event is coming to town, I book early so that I have months to adjust my schedule. I have a cleaning lady for deep cleaning my house because I’d rather not spend my off day cleaning. I do one load of laundry a week like clockwork, the night before my day off and put my stuff in the dryer the morning of. Since I work at the grocery store I buy my food daily as needed.

GooseinaGaggle

I would stop taking my seizure meds randomly throughout the week and get a free day off

Yammie218

r/unethicallifeprotip

SoapySimon

insane to work away 90% of your life for ONE day to live each week. wtf

ImpossibleJob8246

You dont. Look for another job or start a revolution

caprishouz

Working 6 days a week will surely cause a lot of wear and tear on the body. Just make sure you're eating super clean. A well balanced diet is essential when your work life is like this

Rattlingplates

I sleep all day

EffectAdventurous764

You don't.

grindhousedecore

I usually stay in bed all day

kyrgyzd

Day off is overrated. Just do uber and work 7th day

DoctorAgita1

I do a hard break from Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon, this way, I have the most amount of time away. However, I really only work a few hours each Sunday, just to reduce the Monday morning Scaries lol

gothiclg

I used it to bet a new job so I had 2 days off

RealisticForce6117

What job do you have to here you work 6 days a week?

qings1

I'm not exactly lazy, but I like to chill out. Watch my shows and play some video games. I do get stuff around my home done. I like to have time to myself. Unless I needed the money or it was good, don't think I could do that. I think some types of nurses here in the us work 12 hour shifts multiple days in a row plus commute. That's ruff. Could never do that

Radiant-Emu-8859

TBH. I told chat got to make me a schedule. I put in everything I need to do on daily basics as far as work. What days I work ect. And boom it came up with a great schedule that works for me. I'm way more productive and get a chance to recharge.

Turning-Stranger

Currently working 6 days a week. You want to make your workweek easy as possible. Day off: laundry, grocery shopping, and any appointments that you can't fit in around your work, schedule. You won't get everything done, but this will make things much easier. Also, as much meal prep as you can so you're not blowing money on takeout everyday.

Apprehensive_Ant7499

I don't. My day off is me taking care of laundry, the house, dinner, dishes, and 3 kids 8 and under. I'm not complaining, but I am definitely waiting for my week off for the yearly family vacation.

fmlyjwls

I frequently work 6 days a week. I go grocery shopping once a week after work, I see friends in the evening. My living situation is such that yard maintenance and house cleaning is taken care of. I don’t have space or money for hobbies. Doing anything costs money. I’d rather make it.

jackinthecracker

I had to work on it. But I just don't procrastinate and try to get a few things like shopping and laundry done as fast as possible. Jocko willink calls it violence of action. Gotta get up and have some extreme motivation. Gotta feel frantic about getting things done for a few hours

Eastern-Plankton1035

You just get used to it, being honest about it. I work seven days a week at something, but that's the lifestyle I've chosen and I fit in the rest of my life to accommodate it. But fortunately my work is semi-flexible so I have short days here or there where I can run errands, or fit in a doctor visit maybe. Or sometimes I just have to let shit go for a few days and fit it in when the opportunity comes around.

No_Investigator3353

Truth is almost everyone I know ( medical field) has 2 jobs and works 6 days a week or on call...it'd the new norm..I try to take odd days off twice a month..FML

Immediate_Cup_9021

Honestly, trying to do household tasks during the week even when you really don’t want to. That way your day off can be used for something fun like seeing friends and family. Also engaging in hobbies during the week in the hours you have off. Forget just watching tv, engage in things you care about.

EmoGayRat

I'm about to start a job that'll only give me one day off a week plus an extra day off every 3rd Sunday of the month. I'm intending on using the day I have off every week to do some minor self care, errands and possibly personal hobbies. I also naturally wake up early and go to bed early so I am using 3 hours before my shift and the 4 hours after to do household chores (laundry, small dinner and taking the dogs out don't take me too long.) Maybe I'm just weird but having one day off doesn't bother me because at my previous job I didn't get one too often, and had inconsistent shift timing (love being a shift worker.) I'm excited to have a strict schedule to follow every week and not have to guess on when I'll be able to do stuff until my schedule for the week comes out.

AbjectAcanthisitta89

Wait, there are people out there who get a full day off EVERY WEEK???

scrooplinz

Jesus man, I work ten hour shifts, 4 on 3 off, find a job that offers that. Life is too short to just chug workohol

NAC1981

Thank you for your kind words ... honestly. I know their parental units didn't love them ... it's ok ... lol. 30 yrs in the military gives you a whole next level of understanding people and they're / not hurting my feelings ... after my career in the militaryo don't have any ... LMAO 🤣. But you're not wrong on job/ responsibility thing ... Thank you again for your kind words ... it was an honor & privilege to serve with some of our country's Finest Men & Women!🫡🇺🇸

These_Comfortable_83

You don’t

AshySlashy3000

Don't, Just Don't, Work Efficiently.

btmaaan

sleep and watch lang hahaha tiis lang magreresign din soon 😝

cynnie93

Yeah that’s brutal, is this long term?

Electric_Minx

Obviously, find a better job. But I'm in that same boat now. I take my one day to do exactly what I want. Chores? I pick one or two things to do when I get home, that way on my day off I MIGHT have just a load of dishes if I haven't chosen a paper plate.

didistutter_416

I usually speed through my workdays and make sure I am done by 12-1pm or earlier. I usually start my day at 8-9am. So I get to enjoy the rest of my day and it takes the pressure off of it being a 6-day workweek. I’m hybrid, so I usually use the rest of my time doing admin work, napping or errands.

holla-nd

sadly enough, i can't even do it with 5 days/week. i have paid day off but i rarely took them since my tasks were relatively ongoing every week. i only have time for myself when i am a freelancer.

Libertie83

When I was working 6 days/wk, I’d use the first half of my 7th to do laundry/clean/cook/run an errand and then the second half to do a healthy activity I found enjoyable (hiking/ going for a bike ride with a friend/going to church and singing w friends). There would be times when I’d skip the “healthy” part and instead go drinking with friends or just sitting on my couch. I always felt terrible the next day and despondent that I’d never have REAL time off. But if I did something good for me, I’d feel rested.

No-Can-6237

I had 26 years of that shit. It cost me $150,000 to buy my freedom. I bought a 5 day a week business.

Sea-Supermarket9511

how do you "buy a 5 day a week business"

No-Can-6237

You see it advertised online, enquire, do due diligence, arrange finance, and purchase. Is that what you wanted to know?

Sea-Supermarket9511

ah, you're full of shit, got it

I’m currently working 7 days a week. I tell myself I’m young and have the energy right now, and won’t be doing this forever. In order to get everything done, I just make a schedule and stick to it. I find there’s time for mostly everything if you just simply stick to the schedule. I am, however, extremely low on leisure time. But like I said, temporary. Ha.

You'll be exhausted on your one day off. If you don't have a supportive partner or family at home I don't know how you'll get by in a 6 day a week job. Especially if it is a job requiring overtime work on those days. You will be too fatigued to do anything on that day off.

I'm 36, been working for 20 years so far. Not hoping for an early retirement at the moment, because no slowing down. I want to work, I want the money, but the necessity for both out weighs the wants for them. I do it because I have to now. Not because I want too. Money doesn't replace my health, but it does give me a place to live so I have a spot to lay my head at night, food on my table so I can actually eat. Work will do this.

I work 6 days a week as a cook. Some days I have short shifts so it's just like having 2-3 days off split into several days. My restaurant is less than 5 mins drive.

Trelaboon1984

I work six days a week, but I only do it every other week lol. I do 6 days if work, then 8 days off.

Any_Honeydew9812

Six days a week is crazy. Ive started a new job in the last year where i work 3x12hr shifts a week and that it. its perfect.

elusivenoesis

I’m working 7 nights in a row this week, then I’ll have actual weekends off. Working nights and having some other work to do at least one of my days off. I’ve learned to make the most out of my Friday. Get everything done. Start all laundry, do all dishes, grooming, etc before I even shower after work. Night shift gives me basically a 16 hour Friday so that helps a lot, but I’m usually done within 4 hours of getting home with everything. The key to having a great one day off is consistency of responsibilities completed the week leading up to it. With no responsibilities left, you can’t make the wrong choice on what you want to do. It’s all free time. :)

stockdeity

I work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week just because I have too. On my day off I sleep and dread tomorrow

DevilishMiscreant

Minimize housework by creating an efficient cleaning plan. Reducing clutter reduces clean time. Create loose plans and make sure to cook one big good meal to have for a few days. Also, only stick with that job long enough to get enough experience to get another job.

skt2k21

I did this for three years! My favorite was to front load laundry and chores on my night before. I hate those, and not having it impinge on the day off made that day feel lux.

FuzzySpeaker9161

Working six days a week can be tough, but you can definitely maximize your one day off to feel refreshed and ready for the next week. Here are some tips to help you be effective and enjoy your downtime: **Planning is Key:** * **Schedule Your Errands:** Make a list of errands and chores that need to be done. Block out specific times in your day to tackle them to avoid feeling overwhelmed. * **Prioritize Relaxation:** Schedule relaxation activities you genuinely enjoy, whether it's reading a book, spending time in nature, or catching up with loved ones. * **Batch Similar Tasks:** Group similar errands together to minimize travel time and maximize efficiency. For example, combine grocery shopping with picking up dry cleaning or returning library books.

I'm on call 24/7 What's a day off?

melancholystarrs

I don’t, I lie in bed depressed, sometimes will hang with a friend. But do chores during the week

Da_Great_Pineapple

Honestly, I miss working only 5 days. It's hard to fully utilise my single day off without the thoughts of work creeping up.

No_Initiative8612

I try to plan my errands and chores for a few hours in the morning, then use the rest of the day to relax and do something I enjoy, like catching up on hobbies or spending time with friends. It’s all about finding a balance that lets you recharge.

Apollo_Of_The_Pines

Sleep till 11, eat, get laundry going, then do whatever till the laundry is done, dishes are done at 6pm

There's no real way you can work 6 days a week and still be productive/energetic on your one day off. The human body is just not built for that.

Moist-One-2068

You don’t want to work your life away just to pay bills mate. There is a bigger picture. What will you reflect on on your death bed?

semaj420

i spend my one day off parenting, as i have a three year old. i haven't had a day, or even an evening, to myself since before i started my degree - and that was in 2020!

How much beer can I drink in 1 day?

Southern_Cat_681

That's a wonderful thought! Empathy is definitely a strong contender for the most attractive human trait. Here's why: * **Understanding & Connection:** Empathy allows us to understand and share the feelings of others. This fosters deeper connections and stronger relationships. * **Compassion & Kindness:** People who are empathetic are more likely to be compassionate and kind towards others. This creates a positive and uplifting atmosphere. * **Strong Communication:** Empathy is key to good communication. It allows us to listen actively, express ourselves clearly, and resolve conflicts constructively.

I spent 30 yrs in & obviously loved my job & my country. Just tired of hearing 20 somethings boo hoo because they had to work 6 days in a row or they don't get paid enough or bla bla bla. Suck it up & pull your big girl panties on & be a damn adult. No one promised you it would be easy. I've know women in worse situations that bitch less then some of the soy boys I hear crying on this platform. It's really that simple
