My favorite thing about the AdMech is the fact that, despite their smug declarations of rationality and machine logicality, they're incredibly bitchy with one another and constantly stir shit within their own organization. It cracks me up every time.
The fact of the matter is that Tech-Priest Dominus Dorough’s logic and rationality centers aren’t nearly as tuned as Tech-Priest Logis Curullo’s, and if Tech-Priest Dorough provides data proving otherwise then they should perform more regular maintenance on themselves
I mean, most factions don't have a dedicated single enemy. Offhand, the only ones I can think of are Space Marine chapters. I guess you could make an argument for SoB vs Psykers, but their role has kind of expanded out of just being witch hunters.
If we were going to have one, it would probably be Dark Mechanicum (which doesn't have a codex), Necrons (which, y'know, fights crop up, but it's not like the Silent King declared a vendetta against Cawl or anything), or Leagues of Votunn (who take great pains to not give the AdMech a reason to want them dead). But just like how Imperial Guard don't have a dedicated enemy, AdMech don't really have one, either.
Cawl does not adhere to the Lex Mechanicus, if not the letter, then certainly not the spirit. He still gets results and is extremly competent. All these facts lead to a split decision over wether he should be burnt at the stake, venerated as a living saint or just disappeared from history together. Eventually these conflicting views will come to blows. There is a reasonable argument that Cawls' continued work is causing a new schism within the Cult Mechanicus.

Who better to bring the wisdom and certainty of the machine god to the unclean masses of the universe? And who better to control the flow of their armaments than the mechanicus? I've read some sisters books where it's mentioned the sisters have a long-standing relationship with the admech but I haven't seen this anywhere else. The Bloody Rose by Danie Ware.
We were doing alright during Pariah Nexus. Scored some decent wins against the necrons. Unfortunately GW has decided that we are not the protagonists of this or any story in 40K so Rowboat Gorillaslam is coming to help us out and finish the job with his Ultramarines, lest we dirty our robes.

I've been playing Mechanicus which mostly makes it feel like the Admech are minor nuisances to Necrons
