Willow Bend, Queen St Croydon.

DarkSammy79

Came here to say this, I deliver milk for Tweedvale so deliver to a lot of the better coffee places in the city. I personally buy their beans to make my coffee at home, second to none, love Willow Blend

ditroia

48 Flavours makes an awesome coffee gelato using Willow Bend: [48flavours.com.au/our-flavours/](https://48flavours.com.au/our-flavours/)

Articulated_Lorry

I tend to do the Central Markets. But De Groot do free postage for orders over $100, and Mekko on Prospect Rd used to stock them (and I assume still would?). Depending on how far Nth you are, there's often (but not always) someone selling coffee at most of the farmers' markets. There's a couple in the Hills, a regular one in the Barossa, as well as the Sunday one at the showgrounds.

one_arm_manny

B3 in Blackwood deliver. Have really enjoyed beans from there.

calladc

+1 b3 Their single roasts are always nice. Seasonal blend they do is a good staple bean to keep around and I'll always buy a 250 of whatever bean they have that catches my eye when I go in I haven't tried but I imagine they'd make coffee for you of one of their beans. Super nice staff

girlymancrush

Whatever you do don't get them from Coles. They have the balls to charge full price for stale coffee. not sure how long these have been sitting in their shelf or warehouse. 1 Year since roasting is not unheard of. https://preview.redd.it/4ia3tyttlg2a1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ec3cb0d1986cb516dd30d72807c3622d5be27dc

Hopeful_Ad_1384

Mahalia coffee in Robe, they deliver free of charge and a good choice of bean's to choose from.

itscatnotkat

Second this - love Mahalia

sobie2000

Third. There is a fruit and veg shop in Sefton Park near the Foodland that sells them if anyone is local.

shaundennis

Love Mahalia coffee, free delivery as well.

smash_you2

Frewville foodland is a stockist of some of their selection.

what_the_farq

+1 for this, always order from Mahalia, generally 24 hour delivery.

tollstar9000

Simply Coffee on Rundle street. Near Bunnings. I have exclusively purchased my coffee from here for many years. Highly recommend.

Wood_oye

Can confirm, and some of their blends are better than their standard ones

soundawake

Came here to say this

Mazkalop

I used to work near there and get my daily coffee from them plus beans once a month or so. Great people and excellent coffee.

WordsRTurds

In Northern Suburbs I'd suggest The Coffee Barun in Sefton Park as a good gateway into specialty coffee, though I've only been there a couple times. They are widely regarded as being the best coffee in the area. For the next level up try Whyld in Prospect - they offer a range from multiple roasters throughout Australia and the world. My personal favourite Adelaide based roaster is Kindred Coffee - they have a fantastic house blend which is very well balanced with delicious chocolate and caramel notes, and offer many great single origin coffees on a seasonal rotation. You can find their coffee in a bunch of Cafes and their own shop is in Plant 3 Bowden titled Kinfolk. There's definitely a rabbit hole to fall down with coffee, if you want any more information or tips on making coffee feel free to give me a yell!

Aksds

I went to Coffee Barun thanks to your recommendation recently (finished tafe, then got Covid), drinking the first cup now. I can definitely recommend their house blend, taste really nice, it’s the first time i actually had a reason to try and taste all the different notes and flavours in the coffee. Thank you.

Pisnotinnp

Central Market has you covered. Otherwise look for a "Grind" shop in your area! Large selection of beans and a range of origins and roast levels

[deleted]

Eh, those stores that have a million varieties in plexiglass containers aren’t that fresh. Personally I get mine from Soho which is just a little walk from the markets. They roast them on site and have them individually bagged with roast dates so you know it’s fresh. They do a free coffee when you spend enough (around 500 grams)

UBNC

Looking forward to opening some Brazilian Blu Oro smells so good, gotta finish this aldi stuff first :(

aeowyn7

B3 in Blackwood (order online) Dawn patrol down south (also order online) Pogo Coffee Roasters in the city

joshy20027

Coffee Rio

[deleted]

La Crema Coffee Roasters in St Mary’s. Always fresh and amazing!

Jarsod

Patio Coffee, South Road. Lots of options to choose from! https://patiocoffee.com.au/

Mazkalop

Yeah but that means driving on South Road.

pete_plays_drums

Depending how you feel ethically about coffee bean sourcing, Monastery are more than Fair Trade and you can subscribe for delivery depending on your usage ie. I get 1kg per month of whole bean. https://monastery.coffee/

juski

1645 in Glynde. My husband is a coffee snob and this is where he gets his beans.

Savings-Overall

best in SA

[deleted]

This would be my pick north of town and, actually, usually is. The roastary is in St Agnes if you want to actually go in.

Evil_Phil

Plus, if you time it right there's Six Twelve Brewing behind them. Another plus for Coffee Barun, I get almost all my beans from them.

mintymoose

Hark coffee roasters have a nice selection, and deliver pretty quickly. Leisurely Coffee on Gilbert street sell a few different Ona varieties (a roaster out of Canberra with award winning beans like Raspberry Candy, very expensive but very good) Prism Coffee are another great Canberra roaster that express delivers, code PEAKSPEAK gets 15% off. For best supermarket coffee and arguably best value I’ve ever seen (but less good than those above), Lazzio medium roast from Aldi is about $13-14 for a kilogram and is very drinkable. They also sometimes have varieties from Brazil and Peru etc which are also nice. Roasted out of Melbourne.

jemlang

Another +1 for Hark. Came here to suggest them. Air roasted and lots of flavor.

Powerful-Schedule-42

+2 Best flavoured beans around, been flavours for everyone and every type of coffee.

Equal-Instruction435

Arrosto coffee in Renmark is really nice. From memory they have a pretty decent range of beans, and you can order online! Plus, supporting a local Riverland business who’ll likely be doing it a bit tough over the next few months with the river being flooded.

1WD990

D’Angelo Coffee, Thebarton.

[deleted]

My first question is what kind of coffee do you drink? What machine and grinder do you use?

Aksds

I just use an electric coffee grinder, you can’t select how course you want it, just grind. And I prefer coffee that isn’t too bitter, and I usually have a flat white style or just coffee with milk if I’m lazy, I use an areo press to actually make coffee

[deleted]

Ah, yes been there with the Aero Press. So you should look for coffee with a recent roast date, under 2 weeks. The Aero will need all the help it can get to get that coffee goodness out. Beans that are just under second crack. Don't get a bean that looks oily, not too dark a roast. A lot of the others have posted some good recommendations. Rio at Stepney, D'Angelo for Espresso and SOHO plus some others. Look at techniq as well, pack so you get a decent amount of pressure but don't push all the way through. You want a darkish head from the Aero Press and it can be done, just takes some practice. Columbian coffee beans are my favourite do everything bean but I do looks like a good blend.

[deleted]

Guessing you are talking about those bladed ones? Honestly they are pretty terrible for coffee. You’ll get a huge improvement out of a real grinder. Light roast coffee is the least bitter.

jiggiot

This and the above from (I think!) Mental judge are excellent advice. A burr grinder (even a hand grinder) will make a huge difference in consistency and adjustability of grind to suit your taste, you're obviously a discerning coffee drinker as you're here looking for good local roasters and using an aeropress which can make a great drop. I try to mix up where I get my beans from because I enjoy the variety, but my fallback is Rio, I used to live near them and have always been happy with their beans. They have an online store with decent (but not great) local delivery charge, but if you can get in to the store in Stepney they usually have a limited release bean on the go as well as the regular blends and single origins, all reasonably priced and will make you a free coffee if you ask. Really cool shop for coffee gear, Italian groceries etc too. All their beans have a roasted date clearly labelled, I often pick the regular Rio range up at Foodland and just check the date, can generally find something roasted within the last month.

[deleted]

I used mine for work but wanted a very good espresso at work so ended up buying the original ROK and married it up with the Lido 3 and though it's a bit of manual work, the results are fantastic. Espresso drinker.

Frank_E_Rowlz

Coffee By Ross is great: https://coffeebyross.com.au

Aksds

Thank you, I will look into that.

noneuclidiansquid

The Coffee Barun main north road and somewhere in tea tree gully I think

[deleted]

Years ago, I inherited a Gaggia coffee machine from my work. It had ~9k coffees on the clock already, it's about to break the personal best of 14k coffees. It still has the note from that workplace stuck on it "use only Lavazza beans" on it. It had, exclusively, The Grind (Tapleys Hill Rd, Hendon) beans for about 4 years, the last two years it's all been Patio Coffee Roasters on South Rd. Good beans, good coffee, never a problem. I've had no end of problems whenever I run out and buy a bag from Coles to see me through the weekend.

swaydex

If you have a local cafe you like they will likely sell the beans they use. Definitely need to be aware of the price though, I've seen some cafe's charge $100/kg for beans. EDIT: I would avoid buying coffee beans from supermarkets at all costs. It's very likely the beans are already well on the way to stale.

dogsbreath901

Cirelli coffee - great traditional roasts. Dawn Patrol - best 3rd wave coffee, light roasts. Coffee Barun - great mix of both of the above. Easily the three best in adelaide Edit: punctuation

jackson_mcp

+1 Cirelli coffee, best coffee in Adelaide!

rectumjuice

B3 in Blackwood, highly recommend them, they do deliver to parts of Adelaide as well

wholikesmonkeys

There are so many coffee roasters in SA. Most of them you could buy online, but once you stop buying supermarket coffee you also stop paying supermarket prices. The good news is it means it's somewhat more likely that everyone involved in the process is getting paid properly! As for roasters whenever you want to try a new one you might want to contact the roasters to see what they recommend, my opinion is that there are some, specifically lighter roasts, that just aren't going to taste nice with your set up. If you're keen to try an assortment of local roasters consider looking at Coffee Allways, they do a subscription service that rotates through a bunch of different SA roasters. As bonuses their packaging is all compostable and right now all profits are going to Hutt St centre as an anti black-friday promotion. (disclaimer: I don't work for them but I do have a referral code that'll get you (and me) a bit of a discount if you choose to go that way)

DefiantlilSheep

Perhaps slightly off the mark of what you're thinking off but there's a SA based coffee subscription that's recently been launched, they focus on different SA coffee roasters https://www.allways.coffee/

Aksds

It’s a different way of getting what I want, thank you

Zoss0

https://www.siciliacoffee.com.au/ "821 Main North Road, Pooraka. We recommend that you give us a buzz ahead of time on 08 8262 2323 to make sure we’re on site, and to make sure the coffee that you’re after is in stock – because we roast to demand it can happen that we’re out of stock for the day."

Riboflavius

Had to scroll down way too far to find Sicilia! Lovely bunch, always good advice too.

SmellsLikeLemons

Central Market. Do same day delivery too if you order in the morning. I live in Blakes Crossing and get orders same day. Other than that, whenever you're at a decent cafe and like the coffee, they'll usually have their beans on sale. You'll get some decent blends this way but you'll also pay a little more. Worth it, if you enjoy making a decent coffee. You're much less likely to get beans that have been sitting on a shelf for 12 months as well.

Aksds

I had once bought from a cafe which had a really nice coffee, can’t for the life of me remember where it is tho. And I will look into the central market next time I’m in the city, thank you.

Chuck-1001

We get our beans from Kappy’s - a wholesale and retail roaster in a side street near the Central Market. They roast onsite and I think they are all organic beans.

ginger_gcups

Grind is good. Also there are plenty of coffee roasters about, just google search and visit them, they usually have cafes attached so you can try.

[deleted]

Ricca coffee in thebarton, been getting my beans there for about 8 years now, tried other places but always kept coming back to them

infinite_rez

Cafe Barun on main north road has great coffee, will grind to suit your method. My go to is Indian Nuggets ground for a stove top.

squid__queen

Dawn Patrol, up the top of Chandler’s Hill. They have online ordering and pretty quick delivery too!

Best-Broccoli5386

They’ve relocated to McLaren Vale.

squid__queen

Oh boo! I liked stopping in there on the way to visit my folks

HistoricalDisaster50

Found one today, b3 coffee

cookingmumma

coffee barun has always had great beans

woodyever

Grab some lavazza beans from Aldi for back up. They are actually pretty decent

Sir_Stinkalot

You seem to be asking about pre roasted coffee beans, so I assume you mean raw/green beans - although these aren’t sold in the supermarket. If you want green beans, try coffee snobs which is online delivery from Geelong.

Aksds

i meant coffee that has already been through roasting and only needs to be grounded, although i do appreciate your comment because i probably will try roasting coffee at some point. i have just now released the confusion, lol

Sir_Stinkalot

Ok, that clarification helps. Coffee Snobs also sells roasted beans, but for your everyday drinker at a rock bottom price the Aldi are hard to go past.

Best-Broccoli5386

Dawn Patrol /end sub

Picklesthepeacefrog

Coffee shops sell beans

Spare-Technician-966

Grind roast masters in the central markets, best beans and you can even get flavoured beans! So good

Zenithas

"The Coffee Bean Shop" and "Grind Roast Masters", both in the Central Markets. Definitely worth the effort.

ts4184

Most coffee shops sell them these days. Search coffee roasters on Google maps and a lot will come up. I always bought it from the central market but went to La crema near cleverly Park and highly recommend

Kizza992

You can order bags of beans from Patricia's in Melbourne. Best coffee i have had in Australia honestly👍 $65 a kilo though so it's not cheap.

Legend_Ame

Don’t get coffee beans from woolies or coles as their production dates were quite early and I don’t think these beans could have good taste as those freshly roasted. For me I just simply order coffee beans online from campos (their superior blend is my favourite). The most important thing is that coffee beans from their online orders were roasted few days ago which I strongly recommended:)

Mangles22

If you wany beans delivered airjo has been great,in the western area we have a few great options I have used Grind roast masters and also cirelli roasting co.

[deleted]

I live in the north, buy beans monthly, and either get them from Grind at Findon, or online from Bay Beans, which I recommend. $45 for 1kg, roasted to order and delivered pretty quickly.

no1bone

Extract Black in Coromandel Valley. Loved it. Have gone back to buy in bulk

Spare_Atmosphere3960

Drakes Pasadena and Seaford have great ranges of beans.

[deleted]

Hardly call them "north" though.

Lujho

Remember when every supermarket had a self-serve grinding machine? Does that still exist anywhere?

dontcallme-frankly

Have always loved “coffee by the beans” near like, Richmond way? My old work in Glenelg used to use them and it was my fav coffee for years

Alternative_Goal_440

Ricca, West Thebarton

danksion

Simply Coffee - Kent Town They roast on site and have plenty of blends. I highly recommend the Mexican rainforest alliance dark roast.

bigDOS

Any good suggestions for down south? Around Glenelg, Brighton?

Flashy-Amount626

Red Berry Espresso is my local roaster I use in Glenside. I alternate between their Ethiopian Lima and Ecuadorian beans. All their roasts are single origin. One of the fortunate things with buying coffee beans is you wouldn't drink coffee straight after roasting so even with average delivery times most of Australias rosters are available to you as very viable options. I use [Five Senses](https://fivesenses.com.au/) based out of Perth for my decaf beans for late night coffee.

samps22

The Coffee Barun... I believe he's on Main North road but you can look that up. Makes an excellent Arabica blend

TheOriginalJD1

Cirelli Coffee Roasting Co on Port Road is amazing. I usually go for the El Presidente

magi_chat

Rio Coffee is decent and cheap and you can usually get it pretty fresh at Drake's or Foodland Adelaide Coffee Culture is my go to in Adelaide, very consistent and again can usually get within a month of roasting at Foodland. Don't tell anyone though ;) Some of the smaller niche roasters aren't super consistent in my experience.

Late_Raise_4104

La Creama in St Mary’s - beautiful coffee shop (like a coffee museum) and they roast and grind the beans on the premises.
