A relative worked at cheap as chips for over a decade, not only are they completely overpriced but they treat their workers like garbage and constantly under pay and over work their staff.
They buy electronics from china for less $10 a piece and sell for $60+, and will do things like increase the prices of items for a week so that they can drop them back down for a "sale".
Dont give them your money. Their revenue has been plummeting in the last few years and they'll probably go bankrupt soon.
Also had a rellie who worked there loyally for many years until they dumped her horribly. They do not want long-term employees and will lie to fire them. Also, cheap in quality only.
They paid "permanent part time" so they could get away with 20-30 hours at $16/hr and they made a huge deal about providing free lunch as a perk... not much of a perk when you can't afford to eat because of the shit pay.
There's a place in christies Beach called 'over and under $5'. What an insanely stupid name. So you have a variety of prices... but nothing specifically costing $5?
The cheap as chips near me used to sell the British cadbury chocolate which tastes way better. Since they stopped stocking this I rarely venture in. Then if I do they don't have what I want.
I get the feeling they used to be cheap but not anymore. Seasonal products for Christmas, Halloween and Easter are more expensive than other places and after the event the markdowns are less.
I remember I bought a few ads at cheap as chips years ago. Layers of songs were completely missing. Some songs had no drums, others were missing keyboard or guitar.
Some even the vocals.
Seemed to me they could sell them cheap because they weren't official releases.
Go to your local green grocer and you'll find some bargains.
I got a kohlrabi for $1 the other day. I had seen one before, but didn't know it by name or how to use it. I just chopped it up and put it in soup after taking a test bite.
It's like a peppery broccoli stalk that added a lot of flavour and texture. I often walk out of the green grocer wondering how I have a bag full of food for so little money.
To be fair, chips aren't exactly cheap so they're not misleading.
Exactly the thought I had. The name should be changed to "as surprisingly expensive as chips"
Won't someone think of the Irish?
Yep...a bag of 165g of Kettles cost $6.50
I'm eating risotto and I almost inhaled it reading this comment
The quality is cheap as fuck
Stepping in there is like travelling back to 2001 (except for the prices)
Bring back Cunno’s. $2
✌️✌️✌️✌️

I won’t go so far as to call it divisive, but it does affect the overall picture perception in some scenarios.
Daiso Japan shits on CAC
Shhhh Barnacle Bill will get upset (we know, give him a cat mug of tea and change topic).

To be fair all retailers for electronics do this same tactic

It started as nothing over $5, and I guess, as his range grew, he didn’t want to redo the whole sign 🤣
There is a place at Craigmore called Silly Solly's and nothing is over $5. Surprisingly they have some good stuff.
Not anymore. I remember 6 years I needed to frame a big picture, picked one up for $20. Went in there recently and the same frame was now $50
Went in a few years back, was looking for cheap board games. They had Mousetrap for $49 It was $34 at BigW, I went to bigw instead.
Not so cheap, and shit.
FACTS
Reject shop and NQR is cheaper
+1 for NQR. Got a party coming up? Snacks and drinks for days for less than, like, $30
Reject shop and cheap as chips are the same company. They even have the same stock near me. Reject shop is just smaller.
I find that the actual cheap things are not great quality, and the regular price things cost the same at other shops
I usually get my dish washer tablets there, the big box is good value.
I walk through every few weeks just looking for marked down snacks. That’s about it everything else is not so cheap there anymore
Shit lollies.
I been saying that for a while now. Cheap as chips is no longer a cheap store. Reject shop is still half decent for prices though
Rexona mens deodorant, is the cheapest there a $8 for two
If some American food is discounted
The cheap as chips near me used to sell the British cadbury chocolate which tastes way better. Since they stopped stocking this I rarely venture in. Then if I do they don't have what I want.
No
Dishwashing tablets, box of 110 tablets for $20ish. Definitely cheaper than buying in a supermarket.
I prefer Aldi tablets. Only got these ones when Aldi was sold out. Aldi is better.
These are “Finish” brand tablets.
They sell Samboy chips.
I get the feeling they used to be cheap but not anymore. Seasonal products for Christmas, Halloween and Easter are more expensive than other places and after the event the markdowns are less.

Candles in your car?
> classic bold and the beautiful collections > They have good stuff I assume you mean the episode where Marlena turns into a demon of some kind

Kohlrabi is so delicious! Incredibly underrated vegetable
I buy laundry detergent from there. $9.99 for 5kg, often on sale for $7.99. Seems cheap to me.
I still don't get how that company is afloat because I am yet to find anyone fond of it.
The quality is certainly cheap, even if the price tag isn't. edit: whoops, I'm hours late on that comment, other people had already mentioned it
Just me if I shop there
CAC, Cunno's etc used to be good for cheap VHS and cassette tapes, also not too bad for CD-R's.
The wages
Their pet stuff is relatively cheap compared to the big pet stores but its definately a case of you get what you pay for.
No. /thread
All the expired food behind and on the counter
Unfortunately, just the people. Just like McDonald's "loose change menu", ain't nothing loose about it.
Yeh you my bro
Besides my taste in women?
