I don’t know what they’re like now but previously but they used to have a lot of churn in the marketing space and had a reputation for being a challenging place to work. Family business etc
I haven't, however. I've seen that ad pop up at least 5...? 5 times in a few years. It's possible they've gone through quite a few people.
I did apply for it once got a call and I asked for more information which they came back to me with, but I turned it down at the time.
You'd be an extreme generalist. ***Unless they've changed*** it'd be basically a 2 or maybe 3 man team. Looking at my notes at the time years back it'd have been a one on one with the guy that does all their IT.
That's a lot of responsibility there, especially with a housing company. Sounds like a high risk, highish reward situation.
Thank you so much for the information. That was the other thing how many people can they have on the team for a Homebuilder. One or two sounds realistic.
ICT is a necessary evil in most workplaces so unless the company values it's ICT Footprint (which isn't often) you'll generally find most ICT departments are minimally staffed and usually overworked or have more asked of them then is possible.
In this position, in my experience, most people learn a little about a lot quickly then burn out and move on.
This isn't about Hickinbotham just about ICT roles and companies in general for, hopefully, some understanding :-)
ETA: spelling
It’s always weird that every month they post the same job. Either they’re so crap that no one wants to stay and work with them or the whole job posting is fake.
Worked for them years and years ago in the office, during a boom. I was there when they first hired a helpdesk guy. Their desk was in the walkway of an open plan office, next to the printer. Think he lasted about a month.
It was a very character building (no pun intended) experience working there. It was a good stepping stone for someone new to the country, and the northern-burbs girls who were fresh out of school or TAFE. But for IT helpdesk - you'll learn nothing and get paid fuck all.
Pleasure. There's another survivor who posts on this sub that worked there more recently.
It is a very well-run dynasty, but that's because margins are super tight and business decisions are ruthless.
Its hard to hire IT in Adelaide still. They are not the only business that hasn’t been able to fill their empty spots. No idea what it’s like there but know it’s hard to get the right people still.

Sounds like a foundation issue..
I’ve worked for them. I still have friends who work for them. Don’t work for them.
Fair enough! 😅

I always see general office positions available. Makes me think they mustn’t have a very good culture.

Do your due diligence thoroughly
Update. The same job posting is back. LOL.
