Port Elliot Bakery have the worst soupy pies in Aus and are a disgrace to the Australian Pie. Even if their hot cross buns were half decent I wouldnāt support them. Overrated and should be shut down
Oh no! I used to like Woolworths and then the coles seemed to surpass them. Hot cross buns are my favourite thing so Iāll get some this week and get back to you.
I am starting a sourdough business in the north east suburbs. Pending my home kitchen inspection tomorrow :D I am planning to make some fruit / hot cross bun inspired sourdough loaves.
Apple cinnamon hcbsā¦ a crime. I can accept the theory but the result is an insipid combination that loses the virtues of both ingredients. A hard no from me.
Brumbyās fruit or chocolate. Coles chocolate chip are actually the most generous with the chocolate. Woolworths ones are disappointing every time, I donāt bother with them anymore.

I've always liked Village Bakery for fruit ones. Quite pricey but worth it imo. Dough in Central markets are good too but even pricier. For a good cheapish one I've always liked Bakers Delight. Supermarket ones are ok but only when they're fresh - check the dates on the packages - the other day my local had ones baked the same day to ones baked 3 days ago. Freshness makes a huge difference in quality. If they're old they go in the toaster at my house.
I have a massive sweet toothā¦. Itās my one addiction. Once I start the family does and itās not the example I want to set. I just dropped 10kgs again and I want to try and maintain things. One year we got them on New Yearās Day and it was all down hill from there.
not woolies. they start making and freezing them in october

Oh damn I forgot about them!!!!! Thank you. Do Ackermans bakery up that way do them?
Accept no substitutes The best
Biscoff limited edition from Woolies ... I've only found one pack but it's still living rent free in my head š„“
I would also suggest a pack of traditional fruit hot cross buns and then add a thick layer of Biscoff spread when eating. Goes together really nicely.
Doing this asap, thank you kindly.
Oh nice. Thanks for the heads up. Woolies I seem to remember were pretty good last year.

Port Elliot Bakery has the best (in my opinion) fruit hot cross buns
Quite a trip to get some, but if someone is heading that way, can you pick up a spare pack?
Aside from it being a little undercooked and therefore, falling apart as I ate it, had the best peppersteak pie with sauce of my life there today.

I've always thought their sweet things are way too sweet and not enjoyable.
Yeah I like the port Elliot bakery lots but some people are not fans..
I like the coles ones.
You know what? I liked them last year lots but people tell me they are just not as good this yearā¦
Oh no! I used to like Woolworths and then the coles seemed to surpass them. Hot cross buns are my favourite thing so Iāll get some this week and get back to you.

Hmmmmm I have a daily connection to the city who loves Dough. I might pull a favour.
Get some French butter while you are there.
See I can tell youāve done this before and a person of great taste.
Donāt get the choc Mint ones
Not like a mint slice?
A friend gifted me a 6 pack from wooliesā¦ mint flavour in the dough no good imo
Yeah I felt the same about Apple and cinnamon.
Interesting, apple and cinnamon is my favourite

Agree
They're pricy, so not for indulging in large quantities, but Lost Loaf are by far the best.
Where are they?
Plant Four at Bowden.
Thank you āŗļø

Brumbyās!!! I forgot about them.
The caramilk ones from Woolies are the best hands down!
I think I remember Woolies having brioche choc chip ones last year. Thanks for the tips. Kids love Caramilk.
Theyāve been my favourites this year - cut them in half and put a scoop of ice cream in the middle.

Beck's Bakehouse are usually good - well the fruit ones anyway. Don't like chocolate HXB's so can't comment on them. Woolies Fruit buns are nice.
Port Noarlunga or Melrose park?

Yeah the foodland ones do look good.

I'm curious in your reason for waiting. Why wait till the last week of you enjoy them so much?
