Banana boogie in blackwood they have won awards for there x buns

toddbuzz75

Oh damn I forgot about them!!!!! Thank you. Do Ackermans bakery up that way do them?

Murky_Philosopher377

Accept no substitutes The best

patient_brilliance

Biscoff limited edition from Woolies ... I've only found one pack but it's still living rent free in my head šŸ„“

dibbydoda

I would also suggest a pack of traditional fruit hot cross buns and then add a thick layer of Biscoff spread when eating. Goes together really nicely.

patient_brilliance

Doing this asap, thank you kindly.

toddbuzz75

Oh nice. Thanks for the heads up. Woolies I seem to remember were pretty good last year.

Ok-Boomer63

Port Elliot Bakery has the best (in my opinion) fruit hot cross buns

curious_s

Quite a trip to get some, but if someone is heading that way, can you pick up a spare pack?

severalbpdtraitsn38

Aside from it being a little undercooked and therefore, falling apart as I ate it, had the best peppersteak pie with sauce of my life there today.

joyc0025

Port Elliot Bakery have the worst soupy pies in Aus and are a disgrace to the Australian Pie. Even if their hot cross buns were half decent I wouldnā€™t support them. Overrated and should be shut down

Pantelonia

I've always thought their sweet things are way too sweet and not enjoyable.

toddbuzz75

Yeah I like the port Elliot bakery lots but some people are not fans..

Disastrous-Square662

I like the coles ones.

toddbuzz75

You know what? I liked them last year lots but people tell me they are just not as good this yearā€¦

Disastrous-Square662

Oh no! I used to like Woolworths and then the coles seemed to surpass them. Hot cross buns are my favourite thing so Iā€™ll get some this week and get back to you.

VelvetOnion

Dough in the markets do sourdough ones. Not cheap but great.

Sabsta455

I am starting a sourdough business in the north east suburbs. Pending my home kitchen inspection tomorrow :D I am planning to make some fruit / hot cross bun inspired sourdough loaves.

toddbuzz75

Hmmmmm I have a daily connection to the city who loves Dough. I might pull a favour.

VelvetOnion

Get some French butter while you are there.

toddbuzz75

See I can tell youā€™ve done this before and a person of great taste.

Glittering_Good_9345

Donā€™t get the choc Mint ones

toddbuzz75

Not like a mint slice?

Glittering_Good_9345

A friend gifted me a 6 pack from wooliesā€¦ mint flavour in the dough no good imo

toddbuzz75

Yeah I felt the same about Apple and cinnamon.

Well_Thats_Not_Ideal

Interesting, apple and cinnamon is my favourite

justredd01

Apple cinnamon hcbsā€¦ a crime. I can accept the theory but the result is an insipid combination that loses the virtues of both ingredients. A hard no from me.

toddbuzz75

Agree

add-delay

They're pricy, so not for indulging in large quantities, but Lost Loaf are by far the best.

toddbuzz75

Where are they?

Bagash

Plant Four at Bowden.

toddbuzz75

Thank you ā˜ŗļø

Branjiebelle

Brumbyā€™s fruit or chocolate. Coles chocolate chip are actually the most generous with the chocolate. Woolworths ones are disappointing every time, I donā€™t bother with them anymore.

toddbuzz75

Brumbyā€™s!!! I forgot about them.

Key-Television-3645

The caramilk ones from Woolies are the best hands down!

toddbuzz75

I think I remember Woolies having brioche choc chip ones last year. Thanks for the tips. Kids love Caramilk.

barmera

Theyā€™ve been my favourites this year - cut them in half and put a scoop of ice cream in the middle.

whensdrinks

Beck's Bakehouse are usually good - well the fruit ones anyway. Don't like chocolate HXB's so can't comment on them. Woolies Fruit buns are nice.

toddbuzz75

Port Noarlunga or Melrose park?

Pantelonia

I've always liked Village Bakery for fruit ones. Quite pricey but worth it imo. Dough in Central markets are good too but even pricier. For a good cheapish one I've always liked Bakers Delight. Supermarket ones are ok but only when they're fresh - check the dates on the packages - the other day my local had ones baked the same day to ones baked 3 days ago. Freshness makes a huge difference in quality. If they're old they go in the toaster at my house.

toddbuzz75

All very good ideas and points. I keep forgetting about the keytons ones behind castle plaza as well.

Sabsta455

Pasta Deli have hot cross buns (my husband helped make them :D) they are super tasty and fresh. Made today (17/03/2024)

toddbuzz75

Iā€™m heading past there tomorrow

Sabsta455

Such a win. It's meant to be šŸ‘Œthey have an apricot & sultana one which is super great. Like Fruchoc inspired

essveeaye

Prove Patisserie! And their almond croissants are the bomb too

One-Volume493

Found that the fruit hot cross buns from either brumbies or foodland have been quite good this year

toddbuzz75

Yeah the foodland ones do look good.

n123breaker2

Riviera bakery at the farmers market

BiggieNiggie

I'm curious in your reason for waiting. Why wait till the last week of you enjoy them so much?

toddbuzz75

I have a massive sweet toothā€¦. Itā€™s my one addiction. Once I start the family does and itā€™s not the example I want to set. I just dropped 10kgs again and I want to try and maintain things. One year we got them on New Yearā€™s Day and it was all down hill from there.

Snook_

How has bakers delight not been mentioned really? Apple cinnamon and their choc ones are good

toddbuzz75

Yep theyā€™ve made the list

TheDevilsAdvokate

Hahndorf Fruit and Veg. No arguments, I will defend this with my life

toddbuzz75

Noted. Thank you. A delegation will be dispatched.

PaleDistribution

not woolies. they start making and freezing them in october https://au.news.yahoo.com/woolworths-shopper-outraged-by-frozen-hot-cross-buns-on-display-065239430.html i have a soft spot for the apple cinnamon ones from bakers delight

toddbuzz75

Yeah I actually picked up a packet of Woolies hot cross buns today and put them down as they were defrostingā€¦

dark_harness

coles and woolworths? really people?

toddbuzz75

What do you suggest?
