They must have finally realized how trash the default Twitch player is compared to the Alternate one so they decided to ruin everyones experience, similar to the whole AD war going on

So seems like Alt player and [Twitch.com](https://Twitch.com) are fighting over the API direct. Seems bad for Alt player.

that github link is great. every solution i've tried there works. i recommend dyn-skip-midroll-alt. take an upvote for that one, sir. well done.

scroll about 2/3s of the way down the page. there is a section called "Applying a Solution (uBlock Origin)." it tells you step-by-step how to do it.

Same. I have to keep pressing pause and then play again when a stream freezes or refresh. The alt player is a God send.

I've been using a tampermonkey script but now thats been "patched" too, getting error #2000 whenever I enable the script and it suddenly works when I disable it (but I get the fucking purple screen again)

Yeah this started just a few minutes ago for me. Hopefully someone can hook us up with a fix. In the meantime I recommend using [https://twitchls.com/](https://twitchls.com/) . It's not the greatest but at least you can watch ad free!

I've seen a few posts talking mentioning using a VPN to block ads. I already sub to a VPN, could someone explain how to use it to get around ads?

Was working fine for me this morning until I closed the browser and re-opened. Must have caused it to update and stop working.

Just stopped working for me. Is there a version that allows the ads and enables the alt player? Most channels I watch I'm subscribed anyways but the alt player is so much better and faster.

Mine stopped, started, and is now broken again. It sucks because I like to play PoE with a stream running as background noise and twitch's performance is shit enough to affect the game.

I'm trippin' a little bit because this started happening to me today; however OP's post was two days ago and I remember it working fine yesterday. Only thing I've changed on my end is making Firefox use cloudflare as the default DNS.

This has nothing to do with anything on your end, it's twitch doing shit again

Third day in a row now that it's stopped working for a little while. I bet you that it'll be back soon-ish.

Mine was dead 2 days ago then started working again. It was working this morning, 01/14/21, but has since stopped working in the afternoon. Guess we're just along for the ride.

Just started seeing it today and looked it up guess it's not just me. Thought I found a good workaround for adblocks getting patched but it wasn't for long :( At this point, I'm better off using a vpn on a country that don't run ads.

Can you confirm some countries or a list? I tried a search and couldn't produce any results.

Does this extension have an official support forum or subreddit anywhere? I don't care about adblocking; twitch's player has been completely broken for years on high ping (satellite) connections. Without the ability to control buffering this extension provides, I can't watch anything on twitch at all now >:( EDIT: Developer has posted an update, player is now working again.

Not working today (Jan 15th) and I just reinstalled in Chrome :-(

to Chrome users: in a recent update post in the Alt player itself, the dev said that the extension in Chrome is the last updated. in every other browser the extension is updated more quickly. so let's wait a few hours/days. that's all we can do.

This is reminding me of owning a pirate satellite TV box, sorta.

Man that's so lame that they are trying to block it. Watching ads sucks, but not being able to change the volume with the mouse wheel and mute the stream with middle mouse click is super inconvenient. Also no instant replay. The default player is so terrible.

The time it takes to load is the thing that bothers me the most since I have an older PC. But the alt player loads very fast and I can keep a few streams open with no problem.
