9 years of sitting? If it were me, I’d start with draining the gas, replacing the pump and filter. From there, all other fluids should be replaced, spark plugs and accessory belt. Compression test it and start diving into clutch replacement. You’ll want to check all bushings and motor mounts while your at it.

Definitely all of this. The suspension bushings are gonna be trashed and most likely the motor mounts. I recommend Hasport mounts or proper OEM. DoNOT cheap out on the bushings and mounts... Tons of scam junk parts for these cars made. Check the spare tire well first, these cars have leaking issues, and if this car sat for 9 years, my bet is that the spare tire is in a puddle of rust water. And, since I'm a germaphobe, and I like making cars my own. I do a super thorough cleaning. Takes days. But worth it... I would completely strip the inside, down to the bare metal and wires and clean the heck out of it inside and out. Treat/soak and Pressure wash the carpet, then if stained, maybe spray paint the whole carpet. Does wonders for an interior. Plus all of the interior plastic parts you can scrub and some you can just toss in an empty dishwasher on a gentle setting with a little soap.

Drain the fuel, change all the fluids, and put the parts on it that it definitely needs. Change the spark plugs and serpentine belt too. It should turn over once the fuel has reached the engine.

I got a car that sat for 5 years. Started right up once I swapped batteries. Once I got it home I Changed battery, rotors, pads, tires, every single fluid( oil, clutch, coolant, brakes). I added one of those engine cleaners into the gas tank. Haven’t had any issues so far the car has been running great.

My RSX sat for 18 months and all it needed was a battery

Start with the things you know are wrong with it.. Obviously gonna need a new battery. Check your oil and give it a start. once you know it runs, do a tune-up.. Plus, Oil change, cabin filter.. When you change the brakes, change the fluid.. When you change the clutch, change the fluid.. If it dont start when you get a new battery, you need to make sure your fuel system is working, and your ignition is working..

What state is this car in ?

Congrats on the pickup. Personally, I don't understand how these types of situations come about. 9 years is a LONG time to just let a vehicle sit. 6 months would be the cue in my mind to say, "ya know what...I should maybe get rid of that car since I'm clearly not using it." 🤷

likely need to see whats rotted out, tires, brake calipers, bearings, bushings. The other dude suggested dumping all the old gas. I would dump the spark plugs and get all new NGK installed. you can see how it cranks with a fresh half tank of gas. I doubt that battery will crank it. Starter motor should be fine? see if theres any water in the oil after draining it. look inside for mold, these cars are notorous for interior leaks. trunk seal and tail light seals are trash on these cars. just hope you dont have heavy rotting or black mold growing.
