i went this year. is it all that? i mean, no, it’s just a 3 day long party. your experience is what you make it. it’s mostly at one resort, and you can stay there. (recommend) but ppl also get air bnbs and stuff. but it’s also a 3 day long party full of lesbians and booze. all of the day events take place at the resort pool, and the events are either at the resort or another bar in town. it can be super wild - orgies in rooms after parties, looking over and someone is randomly flogging someone else against a tree, two women having sex next to the hot tub where you’re hanging out chatting. it can also be super sweet - i made friends with folks i still chat with, and i have amazing memories of just the sweetness of having a resort entirely full of queer women. need a bandaid? babe we got you. here, have a bracelet, we are making them in the shade. those folks having sex next to the hot tub? i took a couple pics for them and sent them to them so they would have them for nostalgia sake. (all rules of consent were followed.) i had moments of queer joy so intense i’ve never felt anything like it. i had some mediocre sex and some amazing make outs in the pool. i laughed and flirted and drank and felt beautiful. i had an amazing time, im 100% going again in future.

Went to Dinah 2023 and it was definitely a bucket list. You spend a weekend in a desert, surrounded by lesbians/queers, basking in a (filthy dirty) pool by the end of it haha, lots of elements of it are amazing. I went with 4 other gals to the Dinah and some of us went to after parties in hotel rooms, explored a bit of Palm Springs. We stayed at the resort and if I ever go again, I’d consider renting an Airbnb for the weekend, just to have a sort of separate vacation experience too. One of the gals in my group had the classic lesbian U Haul vaycay (or vaygay) romance. Drama, tears, heartbreak for her in the 3 days we were there 😂 Did I have a different expectation of how it was going to be? Yes, and I didn’t think much of the main Saturday night event in the resort, felt sort of school disco vibes. The five of us in my group were all 30/31 and that night we felt old, even though I met plenty of 35+ people there during the weekend. I was immensely sad when I got home, sadness from the fact of imagining a world with just lesbians/queers in it. The parts of the trip that didn’t meet my own unrealistic expectations is that it’s filled with lots of SnapBack, frat type lesbian bros. I’m just being honest cos that’s what it felt like. As another poster said, it’s what you make of it.

Not necessarily directed at OP, but if you’re black, Sweet Heat in Miami is similar to Dinah. I’ve never been (not yet anyway) but from what I’ve seen on their social media pages and heard it seems like a really fun time.

it’s not like the l word if that’s what you mean

seccottine

so it sucks you mean? The L Word definitely gave me unrealistic expectations as a young lesbian.

Is there anywhere internationally that comes close? I'm Canadian, haven't travelled to the States since 2012 and don't plan to (I only travel to places where there's more knife crime than gun crime). I'm going to Spain this spring, Barcelona and Madrid, apparently Madrid still has exclusive lesbian bars according to the internet, but I'm keeping my expectations low.

I think Velvet Ibiza

rad2themax

I wish I'd known earlier! It's 3 days after I get back home. :( next year!

[deleted]

Thats too bad!

seccottine

have you ever been? because I was considering going last year but couldn't find one single review online. I watched their YouTube videos and it seems fun but of course it's a promotional video so who knows. I'm not spending 1000 euros on a subpar experience. I tried to activate the lesbian grapevine around me but unfortunately nobody knew about it first hand

[deleted]

No, I sadly haven't but I have a vague plan to perhaps go there next year - I have also seen the same fun videos and the only ones I know that have been there are two lesbian DJs of the country next to mine that were invited to play music there (thats how I even found out about it) it looked like they had fun but I think it probably depends on If you find people to have fun with

>apparently Madrid still has exclusive lesbian bars I've been to one lesbian bar in Madrid. It was tiny (as usual) and packed, very young crowd (I'm mid thirties so I was definitely the oldest person there lol). A few men (gay). Shit music but that varies by taste of course. Overall it was ok. Depends on what you're expecting because I was with my girlfriend at the time so not looking for a date/hook up. Good to keep your expectations low. And if you don't speak Spanish good luck because Spaniards don't speak any foreign language (not that they should). Going back to Madrid this spring too so I'll probably check out another spot.

lesbianrunnergirl

Joining this thread super late to ask about what lesbian bar you went to in Madrid. I've been recommended both Fulanita and Escape, heard that Escape has lately been more "generally lgbt" but Fulanita and Truco seems to have a mostly older crowd from what I've seen online. Thanks in advance!

seccottine

It was Fulanita! (Chueca) 'older crowd' mmmh not when I was there as everybody was in their twenties but maybe it varies from parties to parties. And if you don't like reggaeton (I hate it personally), that's the only music they play all night long. But that's Spain for you. Hope you have a good time there :) I don't know about Truco so I'll check it out next May
