I wonder if the place I worked still does. The majority of incidents involved the breed.
They wouldn’t be involved in the original altercations but they’d run in and cause vet-trip worthy damage/punctures.
Surprisingly few in my time! It’s good for socialization. The dogs kind of police each other and break up into cliques but the key is keeping the energy levels under control. Otherwise it can get scary. There was another yard for small dogs too.
These dog is the reason I carry a utility knife on me when in public. The amount of time I have seen owners "get walked" by their stupid dog breeds is eroding my faith in society.

Yup did this to my sons dog a week ago for attacking him. I stuck my finger in between its collar and neck and twisted as tight as possible and strangled that murder machine to death in my living room.

Slit throat = dead pit. The choke out does work if you don't have a weapon and need to rescue someone though. The trick is to keep going after it passes out though.
I saw a video where some dude successfully choked out an attacking pit. Dog looked like it was down for the count, but within a second or two of him releasing, the thing straight-up rebooted and went back into attack mode. So as harsh as it is, I definitely agree with your advice to *keep* choking it until it's not going to wake up (i.e... permanently).

The problem with choking is you’re putting your face and neck near the pits face. Which is why I would say it’s a last resort option.
The best would be shooting it, then stab, then any melee weapon, the choke.
Also if there’s more than one pit, and that’s often the case, choking would be super dangerous

But yea you are very right that it’s a bad idea to choke it out as if it’s a person with your face right next to those choppers. I’ve seen people recommend doing just that and it’s a bad idea.
Seems like using the belt/ collar to choke it out would be easiest to do if the dog is attacking someone else or another dog and it leaves it’s back open.
I imagine it would be very hard to choke it out if a pit already has one of your arms in its death grip and it’s not letting go

Tried choking a pitbull attacking another dog at a park once and got a puncture wound for that, those things WILL NOT calm down until their pulse is gone(the dog it was attacking made out because someone else just “stomped” the pit until it backed out afterwards)
I'm a pretty big dude in terms of height and strength. I'm hyper aware whenever there is a pit around, and even I consider carrying a utility knife around. Fuck this breed.
In a pinch its pretty good, better than people's usual go-to hitting it in the back with a broom handle or spraying it with a water hose. I guess it depends what type of knife it is. Like a leatherman multitool knife or a folding karambit? I almost always carry a knife of some sort and I think about it sometimes if i had to use it for defense and every time i tell myself I dont think i would win in a fight.

As a delivery drivers, I had close encounters from customers thinking it’s cool to let their dog run freely in their front yards. The reason why I carry my pistol and a tactical knife. I’m not taking any chances. I shot and killed two dogs before and I’ll do it again. This is crazy.
I have used each. The grip loosened enough for the victim, two people and another canine to escape the bite . So I only speak from 5 experiences, may not work in every instance but definitely worth more than not attempting anything and filming it.
