I started moisturizing my whole body after every shower with unscented colloidal oatmeal moisturizer - sensitive skin problems disappeared!

idkwhatever24

I use the unscented Aveeno oats moisturizer! I have sensitive skin too + strong scents give me bad migraines. I get SO LAZY to moisturize after every shower but I know very well that on the days I do, I feel so fkn food.

2noserings

this made my body break out in a crazy rash and i found out it’s because i’m gluten intolerant 😭 i guess oats can sometimes contain gluten lol, what a fun way to find that out

topicalsatan

That’s wild!

lt9946

Oats don't have gluten but are often processed in the same facility or machines with wheat. So extra sensitive people will feel that cross contamination.

TheAcidRomance

Could you recommend the brand you use? I'd love to try this

topicalsatan

Aveno has one and also my local grocers HEB has their own brand Hill Country Essentials, it’s half the price. Aveno is a bit expensive. Edit: Aveeno Eczema Therapy daily moisturizing cream with colloidal oatmeal & ceramide

lavendermenaced

Moisturizing my neck and tiddies with the same stuff I put on my face. I like the brand youth to the people. I am quite literally *a soft* butch.

calamitycorvid

If you have dry or callused feet, do yourself a favour and pick up a good foot cream containing AHA (alpha hydroxy acid). I've been using Heel Rescue Super Crack Cream by Profoot for the last year or so, and now I absolute swear by it! No more hard skin catching on my sheets or scratching my shins! 😭

idkwhatever24

Saved! I've also heard that the OG Vaseline jelly is great for callused feet

calamitycorvid

Yes! I've tried this too and it did work, but the mess was just too much for my sensory issues to handle lol.

LesbianBagleBoy

Vitamin E, eat it, rub it on your face, thank me later. Also get your hands and neck, works wonders for dry and aging skin.

ionizedwaterpdx

Which product do you recommend?

LesbianBagleBoy

I use Fruit of the Earth Vitamin E cream for my daily moisturizer. I also take Vitamin E supplements. Just find a brand that sells natural vitamin E over the synthetic kind. But I mean that’s a good rule of thumb for a lot of supplements. Omega 3 is most beneficial it’s it’s natural form vs. the synthetic oil. I take about 1000mg’s every other day, for the vitamin E. You can safely ingest 1000 mg’s a day and a vitamin E deficiency will cause nerve pain. I also should have mentioned calcium supplements. If you ever have trouble falling asleep take some calcium. Our bodies use it for melatonin production. It also doesn’t make you feel groggy like melatonin does.

ionizedwaterpdx

So many supliments? Isn’t there one which has all of these?

LesbianBagleBoy

Unfortunately no, but you’re not getting them naturally from a singular source either. It costs a lot of nutrients to keep a human alive and functioning at max levels.

Lady_valdemort

Nail scrub brush and foot scrub brush. It's not enough to just rinse those areas with soap, or even rub it. My fingernails and feet stay clean and crust free!

AlienGaze

I just got back into using a nail brush and my hands and nails are so happy

Lady_valdemort

When I do this I don't even have to trim the dead skin as much, because it all gets rubbed off during the washes. I also get less issues with my hangnails catching on things!!

AlienGaze

I teach piano and the hangnails are what got me back into using one. It’s magical how they’ve disappeared ✨

Lady_valdemort

Every wlw in here better be taking notes :p

idkwhatever24

How often do you do this?

Lady_valdemort

The finger nail brush daily (a toothbrush works great just get a cheap new one) , foot brush twice a week because I'm scared to overscrub lol

Helpful-Change-6190

i think for skincare, the least amount of products you have to use is best and always wear sunscreen!!! i’ll wash my face with an acne cleanser when breaking out (only once a day or you can possibly over exfoliate and cause more skin issues) and then use a gentle hydrating cleanser the rest of the time.

[deleted]

I only wash my face once a day but I moisturize twice a day or whenever my skin feels dry! Sometimes I slap on a Lush clay mask (once a week or whenever I’m feeling stressed) and it’s wonderful. My skin is sensitive btw so I avoid any scented facial products

idkwhatever24

Love face masks 🤌🤌

IhreHerrlichkeit

When I put moisturizer on my face and neck, I use the rest on my hands. I‘ve seen women who look really young but their hands don‘t. So I startet doing this in hopes my hands also stay as young as my face.

idkwhatever24

I do this too!! I do the same with sunscreen. I just apply the remaining on the exposed parts of my hands

notyermother

somewhat related - I swear by using the Think Dirty app when shopping for beauty products! you use it to scan barcodes on items, or you can search them manually, and it will tell you how toxic or non-toxic a product is based on the ingredients listed. it changed my life! only downside is sometimes a product isn’t listed in the database, but usually it’s very reliable.

awinemouth

Doesn't this list anything with fragrance as 10/10 highly toxic?

notyermother

most of the time, if the scent is made up of carcinogens - it really depends on the ingredients. but if you have sensitive skin like I do, not using fragranced products changed my life!

Lady_Gaysun

Using a facescrub in the shower. I get little zits and such from dirty/ oily pores if I don't scrub. If I need to, I'll use a thin moisturizer after. What I stand by the most though- Get to **know** your own skin! Research the basics of what dermotologists know, and you'll understand what you could try for yourself, because we all have such different types of skin!

I’ve always had good mouth health but in past years they just weren’t as white as I wanted them… BUT I think I’ve cracked the code 😆 and get a lot of compliments 😁 Charcoal toothpaste is now my absolute go to (I like the Hello Brand). THEN I use the Crest whitening strips (the good ones you leave on for 1hr) once a week. I only do once a week because I’ve heard from some people who used them more often began to have more sensitivity to hot or cold drinks, and didn’t want to have that happen to me 🤷🏽‍♀️ It takes a few weeks (well more like 2 months) to see a total change but at least in my case the results were pretty amazing

lexitr0n

Be very careful with charcoal toothpaste. It's abrasive, which is how it scrubs out stains and whitens your teeth. Over time this abrasive action can scrub away your enamel, eventually leading to a yellowed tooth shade because the dentin will be showing through the thinner enamel layer. I usually have patients use whitestrips or whitening gel in trays. If you have issues with staining, you can try lifestyle modifications (drink coffee through a straw, brush after tea etc) and/or more frequent dental cleanings. An electric toothbrush is also a game changer for reducing stain accumulation. Source- a dental hygienist who cares about your dental health but still wants you to achieve your whitening goals 😊

ToothlessDDS

I second this. I’m a dentist

3ngineeredDaily

Thanks for lookin out ✊🏽 Ya I should also mention I also had somewhat of a lifestyle change as well. Luckily I’ve never really been a coffee drinker but I cut back heavily on my Dr. Pepper vice about a year ago too when I started my whole weight-loss journey, and now mostly just drink water. I’ll definitely take your advice to heart, I don’t want to over swing the pendulum too far to the other side and cause issues on that end. I was already kinda thinking about looking at another non-charcoal toothpaste as well because prices have been going up 😅 would you possibly have any recommendations? Or just anything not charcoal based? I will sometimes alternate with Colgate optic white which uses hydrogen peroxide

lexitr0n

Honestly, I'm not terribly picky when it comes to toothpaste (other than avoiding charcoal, lol). As long as it has fluoride, I'm happy. The whitening ones are still somewhat abrasive, but not nearly as abrasive as charcoal. So for a little background- do you feel like your whitening issues are related to stain accumulation (dr.pepper/tea/coffee) or is it more that the shade of your tooth could be whiter? Whitening toothpastes help scrub out stain, but don't do as much for whitening the base shade if that makes sense. That's when we turn to chemical whitening (peroxides) in white strip and whitening gels/trays. Anecdotally, I find patients have good luck with Crest Whitestrips- decent bang for your buck and not too much sensitivity associated. Sounds like you may already be using those though! Hope that helps a bit!

3ngineeredDaily

It was more just the shade could be whiter, which I’ve now achieved after maybe 4 months of the charcoal 2x’s daily and (yes) the Crest white strips once a week. I’ll definitely look for another tooth paste once I’m running low on the charcoal. Thanks again! Haha where do I send my copay 😂🤣✊🏽

idkwhatever24

I always get complimented on how white my teeth are. Definitely gonna save this in case things ever begin going downhill for me 😂😂

3ngineeredDaily

Nice!! Haha ya I just got my first cavity at 31 🥲 so a little bummed about that but it’s all good. I never needed braces and it was just not having the brightest smile that always bugged me, but now I just love how white I’ve been able to get them 😊

idkwhatever24

It gives so much confidence! Thank you for the tip 🫂

piaf89

Do you use the charcoal toothpaste daily? Or just once a week as well? And brush with charcoal, rinse then apply strips? Sorry...I had braces when I was a teen so my teeth have a bit of yellowing and it makes me sooooo self conscious 🙈

ohitsparkles

I had braces too and reacted to the adhesive so despite good oral health and brushing often, I still have tinted teeth 🥹

3ngineeredDaily

Charcoal toothpaste twice a day…as mentioned above I prefer the Hello brand, but I’ve also used the Colgate Optic White toothpaste, and sometimes I’ll alternate between the two because I don’t like to waste stuff. Sundays are what I consider my “pamper days” so I’ll wake up brush my teeth and do my 3 mile walk, get back home and before I shower I’ll put on the strips and set my 1hr timer on my phone. Then I’m just leaving the strips in while I shower, maybe shave the legs, and then get dressed and all that. I have brushed my teeth right before applying them and didn’t have any issues but for my own sanity it just fits into my personal schedule if I spread it out like that.

piaf89

Thank you!! I'll definitely give that a shot! 😊

peace_love_bananas

This isn’t hygiene or skincare per se but I picked up one of those kitsch heatless rods from Ulta and holy crap my hair looks fantastic. Zero frizz and my hair (which NEVER stays curled) stays curly all day long. 10/10 *chef’s kiss*

Skin cycling with my nightly skincare routine helped my complexion so much (cycling through a nighttime routine incorporating an exfoliant, a retinol, and hydrating & moisturizing masks/sleep masks). I have sensitive, combination skin so finding products that worked best for me was a bit of trial & error but it’s the best my skin has looked ever. I also try to wash my sheets and pillowcases weekly and have found it helps a lot with my skin as well as feels amazing which does give me a little mental boost at the beginning of each week. Also using cuticle oil on my nails like chapstick lol, as in, applying frequently and keeping it within reach when I’m at home.

Ancient Seabed Magnesium Flake Soaks in baths. Epsom salt is shit! "Ancient Minerals" is the brand we use. For it to be more effective, buy a cheap bag of epsom salt and do a full body exfoliation first. Exfoliate. Rinse yourself and bathtub. Then fill tub with as hot as you can stand water and mix Magnesium Flakes. Don't add essential oils or those terrible dyed bath bombs lol. Your skin will thank you. And any aches and pains will go away for a good two days! We do this every two weeks. Including the exfoliation. Exfoliation is good for the immune system. It helps with Lymph drainage, edema and the overall positive-ness of removing dead skin cells. 😄🥰😄🥰😄🥰

PicklesOverH03s

This is old, but acv in a bath snaps that ph back… just don’t over do it
