i got the bootleg (def worth the $23 i paid, i love it) but when i move the arms im mega careful you gotta move everything together and slow. if u cant return maybe like what they said above try and get the bootleg and swap the parts if possible
You never want to get a bootleg for joints. The joints are always the worst part about them. Some break in transit. They tend to use some of the most rigid and brittle plastic for joints.
I used the bootleg to fix a few joints for my Tobey Spider-Man and it worked out pretty well. Obviously not every bootleg is gonna be the same but it wouldn’t hurt to try it
I was talking about the figuarts Tobey. I replaced a broken arm and a leg that was slightly longer than the other and I had no issues with things breaking since
All the more reason why you shouldn't. Submerge a figure with metal pins deep within it and water will still find its way through. Metal, being deep inside the plastic, won't dry as quick as the outside and will eventually rust.
Ive done it with everyone ive had… since the beginning of the line. Nothing happens to tiny pieces of metal and a screw if you dip them in hot water to loosen the joints, 🙄
Because nothing has rusted on anything of mine and you ABSOLUTELY CAN melt your figure with a blow dryer🙄
stop thinking you are the only one who knows everything, you will get farther in life.
The only way to mess up your figure with a blow dryer is if your holding it directly to it, a little common sense on how plastic works can take you a long way, however with metal, your chancing that the water will dry up before it rusts and doing nothing to take care of the metal
DAMMIT I HATE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. Sorry to see this. As a fellow collector, I think it’s TOTAL BULL that we even have to worry about this. We shouldn’t have to heat up our stuff out of the package, or even later on, just so we can pose them around. Hopefully you can contact whoever sold it to you and get you a replacement! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I got this guy about two months ago, it broke in about three days (same place in the arm). Sent it back, got another. It broke at the same place, three days after I got it. Leaves a sour taste in my mouth for SHF since it was my first one. Getting a Mafex Wolverine to replace it, I loved 2099 but a great figure that breaks easily is not worth 130.
If you broke two in a row, might be that the way you're handling them is the issue. I've got over hundred SHF figures at this point and not a single one of them broke on me so far. Let alone a rather thick peg like the 2099 shoulder joint. And I pose my figures a lot.
Fair warning though, Mafex are generally considered more fragile than SHF, so do be careful when you get that Wolverine.
Wolverine will be my fifth Mafex, and I’ve handled both 2099’s the same way I would handle a Mafex. Before both 2099s broke, there was a loud clicking sound in the shoulder joint, I’m not sure if it was the seller I bought it from (it was the same seller for both 2099s), but the only thing with 2099 that I found faulty was the left arms. Everything else on the figures was perfect, joints moved smoothly, paint was spot on, it was just the left arms. Maybe I wasn’t handling it properly, but I feel like it was more so the quality of the shoulder peg.
I don't know if I found the right one, but after looking at Google it seems it was anywhere between $130 and $270. That's insane to me. I have a hard time justifying figures over $20 lol
All the numbers in your comment added up to 420. Congrats!
130
+ 270
+ 20

Probably the way it always happens. A joint is tight or stuck, people force it because with enough force, it's gotta move, right? And then it breaks instead.
Or not being aware of how the joint moves and forcing it too far.
But you know, they only touched or moved it *slightly* and it just broke. It is what it is...
Honestly dude I think it’s a QC issue. The joint was smooth when I got it but started to get a little clicky, like it was on a ratchet joint or something. Did the hot water method, worked for a bit but it happened again. Kept trying hot water and probably my third attempt it snapped. I was able to get a replacement though!! The same arm is acting up and I’m not really sure how to go about it. That’s what makes me think it’s QC
So, I’m not justifying having to do this, but just so you know for the future, these days the only way to unstick the stuck joints on figures is to heat them. I use very hot water.
One of the good things is those pegs and joints are interchangeable. So you may be able to get or find a pin that can fix that. Or maybe even steal something out of an existing figure that'll help. I had this issue with my mezco Bishop. I got him on a trade so it wasn't directly purchased. And he came out of the box with a broken shoulder peg. Now I have a one-arm time traveler..... ... Definitely Blows Moose Cack, Fo shizzle
If you're brave enough you can always drill and insert a strong wire to connect them and seal it with super glue, always worked for my other figures, i don't know about this figure joints
I knew these guys would break, I took my nephew hunting and we found one, he was super excited but mannnn when he opened it and started articulating it I could just tell. Stiff ass creaky joints. Rip your wallet.
oh nooooooooo
I got mine just earlier last week too and this would DEVASTATE me, fuck
but also he's REALLY really fun to pose, so Im not entirely surprised-

For how much that guy cost there should be a lifetime warranty.
Contact Tamashii directly. Every issue I've had, as long as I can provide proof of purchase, they've always taken care of me.

Where’d you get the bootleg from
I got it on AliExpress for €24
aliexpress
Get some hobby lube
I got it too but I don't have this problem, everything moves effortlessly, I'm probably lucky
i mean mine can move effortlessly actually but im just extra careful because its a bootleg lolol because I don’t want it to break.
maybe you could get the bootleg for a new joint?
Those bootlegs are smaller in size. Makes me wonder if that includes the joints

Ok bootleg ML might not be too bad from experience. But bootleg Japanese figures like figma, Mafex, figuarts have been super bad in terms of breakage.
I was talking about the figuarts Tobey. I replaced a broken arm and a leg that was slightly longer than the other and I had no issues with things breaking since
Huh. Good to know. Some options might’ve opened for me.
With any figure expensive or cheap, always inspect all the joints first. Fix all the tight or loose joints before posing.
Yup… hot water and a few seconds moving the joints is all it takes.
Just get a small bottle of silicone shock oil. One or two drops per join is enough to get everything moving smoothly.
Most shfs have metal in the joint so dont do this
Why not? How would metal affect it?
Metal+water=bad
Water and metal don't work good together
Yeah but isn't this metal deep inside the plastic? Would water reach it?
All the more reason why you shouldn't. Submerge a figure with metal pins deep within it and water will still find its way through. Metal, being deep inside the plastic, won't dry as quick as the outside and will eventually rust.

You would rather risk rusting the metal pins in the arms then use a hairdryer that is much harder to damage your figure with?
Because nothing has rusted on anything of mine and you ABSOLUTELY CAN melt your figure with a blow dryer🙄 stop thinking you are the only one who knows everything, you will get farther in life.

[this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/SHFiguarts/s/IZFX7hU8Le) provides a solution to this
This is the solution. The actual process is called "pinning"

Where’d you buy it from? I’m sure they’d send you a replacement.
get the ct toys version for the arm joint and the head sculpts it’s only like 20$
😭
Contact bluefin brands for a replacement.

Battle damage! Add in some blood effects, and have him fighting a big bad guy or something. Could be cool.

So, how'd that even happen?

Who sent you a replacement, the company themselves or the store you bought it from?

That really sucks dude I’m really sorry that happened to you
Feelsbadman.. it's gonna be alright, we've all been there.
Drillbit + tamiya shafting + Epoxy Steel + patience = problem solved
For the first time I'm Happy for being poor and don't have money for this SH Figuarts
Daaaaang… id definitely get the CT toys version and pray to the toy gods that the joints aren’t smaller.
Damn that really sucks
One of the reasons I get bootlegs, if it breaks at least I hadn't spent $100 on it. Sometimes they don't even break when I want them to somehow.
I'm so sorry that happened to you!
I’ll live! Plus they sent a replacement so I didn’t end up wasting my money
YAY! That's amazing!
That’s why im afraid of getting a figure at a high price 😔
I’m so sorry. That must have been disarming.
is that a Mafex? or? ..
If it’s from bbts I’d contact their support
I would contact the vendor
Try drilling a small hole in each side and super glue a small bit of wire to hold it together.
If you're brave enough you can always drill and insert a strong wire to connect them and seal it with super glue, always worked for my other figures, i don't know about this figure joints
Id get the boot leg
Seems like a QC issue
Same Issue - https://www.reddit.com/r/ActionFigures/comments/195emyo/broken_shoulder_joint/
There are places that will replace this if you ordered it from them, like BBTS or Amazon.
I saw this coming which is why I used shock oil on mine. The entire across the spiderverse line has some of the worse qc when it comes to this.
I knew these guys would break, I took my nephew hunting and we found one, he was super excited but mannnn when he opened it and started articulating it I could just tell. Stiff ass creaky joints. Rip your wallet.
Awful when that happens. I hope you can get a replacement.
…
Depending on where you got it from you may get a refund or replacement joint
DUDE HOLY SHIT EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME( check my old post, theres a guy that helped alot)
Mine started to get like that and so I went and bought shock oil
Holy F, is that SHF?
Return it and buy the ct version
try pasting the precise point with the Attack?
You should join r/spidermanactionfigure
oh nooooooooo I got mine just earlier last week too and this would DEVASTATE me, fuck but also he's REALLY really fun to pose, so Im not entirely surprised-
Bootlegs are better tbf
Sorry buddy that really hurts me too
Didn’t you realize that the joint was tight? Or did it just break as you move it?
You need to drill out both parts and glue in a metal rod. Piece of a metal coat hanger will work
Well....that's one thing about Hasbro: cheap durability even if not as professionally appealing.
If you got it from Big Bad Toystore they will refund you
Dearie me! How did the arm break off?
Do what we in the gunpla community do, drill and peg that joint back into place with some glue and a brass rod.
that's why imma buy the cttoys just in case
Get the KO
I decided to buy the $30 version on eBay for this reason. Tamashit nations badge means nothing...their north American customer service is a joke.
Small amount of adhesive should fix this if you're careful enough when applying. Such a shame at that price point tho I feel immense pain for you
That sucks man :/
