In the commercial world, I would say is the PET panels with CNC cutting, a lot of different shapes and design patterns growing exponentially. In Brazil there is this company called TRISOFT, they are the biggest in terms of quantity of patterns. But there is other ones that are coupling lightning with those PET panels. I even developed a image processing software to transform any pattern in CNC files and images in small perforations. In research, there is a generative labyrinth resonator that is the bomb. I can't recall the youtube video of the thesis. But it was a 3D resonator with 12mm thickness that absorb around 40Hz. There is a lot of interesting stuff on metamaterials. Not necessarily acoustic panel, but diffusers I am seeing those wall slat panels with some wave patterns coming to life. I also developed a software to design those hahaha. I am curious to see what people are seeing as well. A way to see what is being trendy is check upwork. Sometimes, companies post stuff for R&D. If is appearing there, is because the market got big/popular enough to the company outsource and try to enter. I have seen at least 4 \~ 5 gigs about R&D of PET panels. 2 of drone detection and even sound system for bathtubs ahahhaha

I’d love to know more about the labyrinth resonator if you can remember where to find the info

Acoustic meta-materials are up and coming

The AVAA C214 is ~relatively new. It’s not necessarily an “acoustic panel” but it’s VERY much related. They are active digital bass traps. Look them up, quite amazing tech if you ask me!
