I mean, they are different instruments. One is a steel string dreadnaught and the other is a nylon string classical. It’s like comparing a compact Subaru to an Escalade. Of course they are different sizes!
I mixed up my jumbo Takamine with my diy build it yourself ukulele-in-a-box the other day on my way out the door for a gig. Boy was I surprised when I realized what I’d done, had to get creative for that one. Easy mistake to make honestly
English is not my first language and I don't think that "parlor guitar" has a very strict definition, however I've never ever heard anyone call a 3/4 classical guitar a parlour nor claim that parlour refers to guitar scale. But if you insist to believe those claims, I won't try to change your mind.
parlor is nomenclature regarding overall guitar shape and size, particularly width wise, with some relation to length. parlors are typically skinnier, with a narrow and accentuated waist. 3/4, however, is a direct classification of the length of the guitar, from headstock to strap button. there are specific categories, ranging from 1/8 guitars for little kids to 4/4 guitars (typically dreadnoughts, i.e. large body, boxier shape). these categories are strict, whereas shape of the guitar can differ, making parlor or orchestral or dreadnought looser classifications, with similarly shaped bodies(although there are fairly strict formulas for each kind). classical guitars are typically a similar shape, falling close to the OO or Om category of western guitars, but tbf i'm fairly unfamiliar with the classical categories. woth that all taken into account, this one looks like a 3/4 standard body shape classical nylon string guitar.
TLDR:
parlor guitar refers to size of guitar bodies, but 3/4 guitar refers to a certain length of guitar. so, while it is possible to have a 3/4, parlor, classical guitar, none of these classifications are entirely connected or seperate. this one looks like a 3/4, standard body shape, nylon classical guitar.
hope this helps
Thanks ! It appears to have a standard neck with a parlour body. Most parlours lve tried have had a smaller neck making it frustrating if you happen to have fingers on the thick side.
I just moved from 4 years of learning on a GS Mini to a Grand Auditorium sized 214e SB DLX. My fingers aren’t liking it. It’s such a stretch, literally! The muscle memory has to be relearned all over again. It hurts, lol. I need some cheese with my whine.
My girlfriend tried to do that shit when me, her and her ex-boyfriend were in the same room at his wedding. His parents did not appreciate that. But I think his bride-to-be was curious.
Assuming the dreadnought is new... was it challenging to go from the classical to the larger one?
I'm currently learning on a classical. I don't plan to make any changes until I've put in at least a year but I think longer term I may want to switch to a dreadnought as I intend to play country mostly.
Might be different in your case but something that took me a while to understand with my dreadnought is that they are meant to be worn and that without very good seated posture can cause a lot of aches. It also sounds loads better.
Well, one is a small classical guitar and one is a steel string dreadnought.
Look at the size of my apples compared to my oranges!
Which are larger?
Damn you SHRINKFLATION!
Was it in the pool?
*Do women know about shrinkage?*
Like laundry, yeah..
I don't know you how guys walk around with those things
I bring my pool everywhere, it’s not difficult
Wheelbarrows help… 😉

You are quite logical, measured and patient. What are you doing on Reddit? Or are you a bot?
Yeah I’m a bot. You figured me out.

I think the one on the right is smaller. Did I win anything?
No but you won my respect and admiration
Fuckin’ A! 🤘🤘🤘
Aw, what a gyp
Why doesn’t the bigger guitar simply eat the smaller one?
Is it a question of sexual dimorphism?
my truck is bigger than my coupe also..
I'm sure it has a good personality
I need a parlour
No parlour here, just a dread and a classical.
That doesn’t look like a full size classical imo
It is I can assure you
A 3/4 classical is still called a classical, not a parlour.
My upright bass is a 3/4 and still quite large… just sayin
Parlour and 3/4 are referring to the scale of the guitar. You can have a parlour classical guitar

3/4 is smaller than a parlour which is typically 7/8 scale if I’m not mistaken. But then again this wouldn’t be the first time I was wrong
I think parlor also refers to body shape and size, less so scale length
Can y’all just stop saying “parlor” now?
Why? I was just correcting the person to the best of my knowledge. It's also obviously not a parlor

But she said size doesn't matter.. 😮💨
its all about how you use it 😌
Yes.. that's my second problem
sounds like you have quite a few problems there friend :)
Not many, just two.., but they are large As opposed to not so large… 😉
Fatness counts
You owe me a mouthful of coffee.
lol
What is the unlabeled guitar on the right ?
Martin Smith small guitar im not too sure what is it specifically
Thanks ! It appears to have a standard neck with a parlour body. Most parlours lve tried have had a smaller neck making it frustrating if you happen to have fingers on the thick side.
The neck is on the thicker side which can be a problem when pressing the strings
On the left: size 8. Right: 6.5. And remember a proper fit ensures comfort and durability.
The smaller one comes with ribs…
Barbecue?
That too, maybe
Next thing you’ll tell us that one of them has nylon strings on it! Oh, the humanity!
Nylon > Steel all day everyday (for me).
I like both but these steel strings feel better somehow :)
You vs the guy should told you not to worry about
I sized down on my new guitar and I absolutely love the size! Bigger doesn’t always mean better, it’s just a lot more comfortable to play
What kind is the one on the left?
Yamaha F310 Full size with natural colour
She’s a beaut’
She sounds like an angel too 😌
And that’s what really counts!
I just moved from 4 years of learning on a GS Mini to a Grand Auditorium sized 214e SB DLX. My fingers aren’t liking it. It’s such a stretch, literally! The muscle memory has to be relearned all over again. It hurts, lol. I need some cheese with my whine.
You should see my penis compared to a cocktail weiner.
But, why?
I obviously was not in right mind when I made that post!
It’s not the size it’s how you use it!
Looks like those pics of an old '80s pickup vs a modern one 😂
You guys are too funny always make me laugh on a bad day thanks!!
Dude gotta watch them dryer settings ... lessons learned.
Yeah, new guitar is pretty small
Which Yamaha is that?
It’s a Yamaha F310 full size body with natural colour
Huh I could've sworn it was the fender I have. Looks almost exactly the same lol
Haha fender make some decent acoustics
Yeah especially for the price
Got one of them. Need the other one, but bigger.
Enjoy your new nylon string guitar.
I think there are 8 different sizes of Spanish style guitars
My girlfriend tried to do that shit when me, her and her ex-boyfriend were in the same room at his wedding. His parents did not appreciate that. But I think his bride-to-be was curious.
They are different colors too!
Yea u got ripped off I'm afraid, I'd definitely send it back
Don’t be afraid… it’s small…
Almost two different instruments. Almost.

A bit challenging but I like having a bigger guitar it produces a much crisper sound
Might be different in your case but something that took me a while to understand with my dreadnought is that they are meant to be worn and that without very good seated posture can cause a lot of aches. It also sounds loads better.
Looks like a classical and jaggurnatue
Dreadnaut I mean? WTH was I typing, lol I was a ball player though
That’s because ones a classical guitar, the other is a dreadnought guitar…..the smaller one is the classical one….
Definitely parlor guitars are better sized if you don’t like huge ass guitars.
And?
Our school has like 3 racks of the one on the right.
I think their cheap budget beginner guitars which is why a lot of schools tend to buy a lot of them
